SAs come and go over the years, and from one visit to another, you can see many different ones, especially at FSH. I have one SA for shoes, one for clothes but a new one almost every time I visit for bags. As for loyalty, they couldn't care less when it comes to scoring a bag, because their database of "loyal" customers is long! I have one SA for everything at Sevres which is convenient and sometimes allows me to ask for bags without an appointment, but it's usually when I'm not after B or K.
Thank you for the information. I am going next week. Wish me luck

I just had my appointment…

For background, this is my fourth trip to Paris in the last year or so (I live in the US, but I have family and work in London so I’m able to get to Paris pretty often). I was able to buy 2 Birkins and a Kelly several years back with the old system (lining up), but haven’t been able to get an appointment online on any of my recent trips. I don’t come to Paris for Hermes, so I haven’t tried asking for an appointment in the store.

After 3 tries, I got a surprise email last night that I had an appointment at George V today at 5:30pm. I was excited, but frankly had low expectations given fashion week just wrapped up and George V doesn’t have as much stock as FSH. Also, my life isn’t very glamorous these days so I wasn’t even sure what I wanted or if it made sense to splurge on another bag…

That said, I haven’t bought an Hermes bag in several years and figured it could be several more before I had another chance, so I might as well give it a shot :)

My appointment time changed throughout the day but ultimately was around 4:15 (about an hour early). I was running late and didn’t have time to change into something presentable before my appointment, so I showed up looking very casual (jumpsuit, sweater, sneakers, canvas tote bag) and wet (it’s raining today).

They asked for my passport, told me to wait and maybe 15 minutes later someone asked me how they could help. I told the SA I had a handbag appointment and she had me take a seat.

I asked for a Kelly 32cm, retourne, togo, in a few different colors (didn’t specify hardware). I mentioned I already had a Kelly in Colvert so if she didn’t have one of those colors, I didn’t want anything too similar. She was super nice but sort of looked at me like I had 2 heads so I lowered my expectations haha…

Less than 5 minutes later she came downstairs with a big box and asked me to follow her. I was stunned. She pulls out the first color I asked for (Vert de Gris) and asked if I needed anything else. That was pretty much it - said I got lucky and they had what I wanted.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think she even looked at my purchase history (which is pretty decent, but not excessive, and nothing in the last 3ish years). I’m convinced it was just luck.

I’ll post better photos later but here’s a quick one. I LOVE the color so much.

Lucky!!! I’ve been diligently applying for appointments and still no luck. I think I’m at attempt 30. And the bag is gorgeous!

Absolutely love your bag but love the way you laid out this story even more! :yahoo:

congrats! It’s a nice color!

Did your appt time change a lot? I always wonder why this happens to almost every appt. maybe some cancellations, SAs calling in sick, clients being turned down right away, etc? What’s the point of having an allocated time if it changes in the end lol

Splendid! Vert de Gris is one of my most favorite colors. It's such a chameleon. Wear in good health! :hbeat:

If it makes you feel better, I’ve probably tried 30 times over the last year - all rejections.

You’re likely already doing this, but I’d recommend selecting “no preference” for the store. Up until this trip, I was only selecting FSH and never had any luck. I always assumed the other stores would never sell me a bag I wanted, but I’m proof that you never know!

Yes! It was different every time I checked. At one point it was almost 2 hours early (and I panicked because I was at an antiques fair outside the city picking through antique linens ).

I’m convinced it’s automated and changes throughout the day depending on where they are in the queue of appointments.

It was actually super nice being late in the day so I didn’t have to plan the whole day around Hermes. I love Hermes, but I love Paris (and its food and antiques…) even more.
