Inaccurate. My BF and husband just came back from Paris (where they have a home, she is a citizen). They were asked at department stores, at Alaia Petite Boutique, and at at least one Chanel store.

Boutiques wasn’t part of the pass, departments stores up to 20 000m2 were but since the 8 no longueur.

For the departments it depends on city.

If boutique like Chanel did ask them they are against the law.

Please discuss France's restrictions factually only.

Take it seriously and follow to protect you and others:

See above.

Obviously, this thread is all about travelling to Hermes stores in Paris, and therefore travel advice in these unsettled times is necessary. You will only get the correct advice from official French sources (see above). It is not helpful for random strangers to advise otherwise, no matter how well intentioned.

It is also not helpful for members to go OT by discussing the management of this thread. Please simply report posts that may break our rules.

Any further speculation, or response on anything other than following official French (and therefore for the sake of this thread, Parisian) advice on travel advice for foreign nationals whilst in France (see above) will be deleted as OT.

Thanks @papertiger. Please delete my post with the links to the certificate application and to the TousAntiCovid apps. I stand by their accuracy and was merely trying to be helpful to other Paris travelers facing similar challenges as we faced :flowers: (the website is not clear that you can apply the instant you have a ticket, for example) but I am not the French government.

Hello Everyone,

I’m finally back home and ready to share my Paris story. Grab a drink because this will be a long one.
I was in Paris only for 4 days including a Sunday so I already knew the chances of me getting an appointment were not good. So I started applying 3 days before I was going to Paris but were rejected each time. I was rejected about 6 times in total and my husband was rejected 8 times. So on my first day there I went to the George V store and bought a pair of Oran’s and asked the lady who was helping me about a leather appointment. She said that she didn’t have authority to ask the other leather SAs about cancellations and told me to try and come in early in the morning as they are relatively less busy. So I woke up the next morning and went straight to the George V store by 11 am and asked the lady by the door about cancellations and she said there weren’t any and that they have been really busy. I even explained to her that I didnt receive the rejection email since 2 days but she was quite rude and just said sorry no appointments. So we went to the FSH by around 12pm. I entered and walked up to a lady by the door and asked her about appointments an again explained how I wasn’t receiving rejections emails either and that I was leaving the next day. She said okay follow me and said you need to talk to this lady about leather appointments. The lady was busy speaking to someone else and a gentleman was standing right by her side so I walked up to him and relayed the same story again. To my utter shock he said let me see if I can make an exception and walked away for 5 mins. Within 5 mins a lady came walking towards me and said I am sorry to keep you waiting Madame I’m here to help you today please follow me. I was SHOCKED as you can imagine my jaw was practically on the floor. So I followed her to the first floor and we sat down on a table and next to me there was a couple who were being shown 2 birkin 30s for size. We spoke for 10 mins and got along really well and then she asked me how she could help me today. So I gave her my wish list and said I’m looking for a mini Kelly or Kelly 25 or birkin 25 in a neutral colour like noir /etain or etoupe. She then asked which leather and I said Epsom or Togo. She didn’t write anything down but she kept repeating what i said so she could remember. She then said I want to be honest with you we don’t have an mini Kelly’s but I can check for k25 or b25. She then said I’ll take 10-15 min so feel free to look around which seemed like a good sign. She went away for 15 mins and came back with 1 box and kept it on the table at which point I was already disappointed as I knew what that meant. She then said I don’t have exactly what you’re looking for but maybe you will like this. I was just so disheartened in that moment that my husband could sense it through my mask so he clenched my hand below the table. But then she said let’s go somewhere quiet so I can show you what I have for you. I just started feeling a roller coaster of emotions as I had never heard or read anything like this before. I always heard that if they put the box in front of you then you are not getting a b/k so I had already given up but then she said to come to another section so I was just really confused at this point. We then proceeded to a quiet corner on the same floor and she said I don’t have any Kelly 25s today only birkins and started opening up the box. As she was unboxing it she said I hope you will be happy with this but if you are not please don’t feel any pressure to take it. I said okay and out came a Birkin 25 in Ebene Togo leather with palladium hardware. She said this is the closest to a neutral that she has in stock. I was ECSTATIC. I never imagined that I could actually get a birkin in Paris without any purchase history but the stars just aligned and I grabbed the bag. It is definitely the closest to a neutral colour and it looks almost black in certain lights. To sum it all it’s all about luck. Whether it is getting the appointment or them making an exception. It just depends on the day and mood of the person you speak to and nothing else. There was nothing special that I did in this entire process and that was my first time in FSH as well. So all in all it boils down to luck. I hope I haven’t rambled and hope this helps someone. I love all the success stories on the forum but never thought I would be one of them so I just hope this gives hope to everyone ❤

This is so wonderful to read! I really think the SAs at FSH want to please you and make you happy. What a terrific experience! I also bought some Orans to try to get an appt and later did via the online system at FSH. My person had no emotion so I thought for sure I was out of luck. But before he left to check inventory he actually said let me see if I can propose this birkin for you. And came back with an orange box! It is a roller coaster of emotions for sure!

I agree about the FSH staff wanting to please. My SA asked me what their reputation was out there which I thought was so cute. They (some anyways) do genuinely care and she seemed very empathetic to our stress with not being able to get appointments. She explained that resellers made it really hard for everyone and while they wish that they could help everyone, they simply cannot but do try their best when possible.

Would anyone happen to have a contact at George V? I would like to purchase a jacket from them but it’s difficult getting in touch with the store from abroad.

Also, my FSH SA said that Paris stores have stopped transferring most items due to low stock.

Would you mind elaborating on what you mean by transferring? Do you mean all Paris stores have stopped getting stock in or stopped sending stock out to other locations? I’m still in Paris hoping to get a bag lol, so I’m curious if that’s what you mean

Sure. My SA said it’s best to visit other Paris stores for items I want since most stores have stopped sending stock out to other locations.

I was told by the lady helping me in George V that sevres usually has good stock and if you go first thing in the morning chances of getting a leather appointment are good. She actually told me to try sevres before FSH. She said George V had the lowest stock amongst all 3 stores.

Thank you for sharing that! I ought to try going back to Sevres again sometime soon in that case ..

Can you or someone share how “stock” works in Paris? Do they have an atelier attached to FSH where they can supply the goods more readily? Somehow I thought I had read that before but then I read another article on LinkedIn that says they have 51 ateliers in France and just opened a new one specializing in bags like Birkins/Kellys near Bordeaux. Do they truck them into the French stores on a daily basis?
