No  I went in right when the store opened and asked for a Kelly 25 in Mauve Sylvestre but the SA said that color isn’t in production this season? I was so confused since everyone on the forum says it is one of the colors for this season and many were offered different bags in that color. I also said I like bleu glacier and she said that’s not available this season either even though it is according to this forum?

I told her any pink or pastel/Light grey colored Kelly would be a dream bag for me and that I was also ok with Kelly 28 or Birkin 25. She said ok and went to the back for 15 minutes and when she returned she said madame I am really sorry but we have no birkins or kelly’s. She was like “but we have other bags if you’re interested?” so I was like sure I’ll take a look. She didn’t bring me any bags in boxes but instead just led me 3 feet away to where the glass display cases on the floor were, showing me the mosaique and some other bags in dark colors that I was not at all interested in. I said no thank you and left the store.
Overall really disappointed in that experience. I’m actually heading to Lyon tomorrow to see if I would have better luck there. We’ll see.
Sounds frustrating! I hate it when you say ‘I’d like a black kelly 28’ and they show you a green bolide - I mean great- love Hermes but I am not just going to buy something at that price, just because it’s available. Disappointing because I think it only encourages re sellers. Best of luck further on - and don’t give up . It’s coming!

Hiya lovelies! So I’m new to Hermès, I plan to go to Paris next week and while I’m there I hope to score a birkin 25 ! I heard they screen you from head to toe. I think I’m over thinking and this might sound silly but I was just wondering what I should wear? I tend to dress causal but I don’t want to look too casual that they think I’m not worthy of being offered one. Thanks so much ladies x
Parisians are very particular about what they wear- don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I mostly shop in London so dress code here and in Paris - is casual but still considered. I ve read in this forum that ladies(&gents) visit in their gym clothes (hope they shower first!) and it makes no difference but personally I’d still make sure my clothes look look smart & comfortable-but I tend to do that anyway.

Thank you sm for ur encouragement! I won’t give up just yet! :)
I was also frustrated because the SA kept telling me all the colors I was naming that are 100% in production this season are not in production. I feel like sometimes we know even more than the SAs

This is true. We are sometimes more updated than them.

I thought carefully about how to dress given it was my first Hermès bag appointment as well. I lived in France for a few years and casual elegance seems to be what’s revered. Additionally, when you dress to go outside, being presentable is a form of being polite to society (so no flip flops or hoodie sweatshirts in public.) But now, there is a lot of influence from american street fashion trends (I did see some midriffs and crop tops on the street which would have been taboo ten years ago.) I’d put together an outfit that seems classy and elegant, without trying too hard or wearing too many brand logos. For my visit where I was offered a birkin, I wore a simple long-sleeved fitted black dress, tied my hair in a long ponytail, and wore a pair of Oran sandals. Less is more!

I think you were too specific with your colors. I’ve speak with an influencer on Instagram and she told me she just special ordered a k25 in mauve sylvestre because mauve sylvestre was in production only for smaller bags like Constance mini (25 is indeed considered as bigger bags).
a color being in season does not mean it will be in every size: I’ve also asked my SA in FSH for rose Sakura b30 or Kelly 28 and she told me no stock and she double checked with the manager and she said that unfortunately this color is only produced for b25 or Kelly pochette mini Kelly

I’m really sorry for you FSH can be a hit or a miss

Wow that’s so insightful! Thanks for letting me know - I had no idea. I guess I wanted to be specific with the colors I wanted so it didn’t seem like I was willing to take any color to make them suspect I’m a reseller. Now that I know some colors aren’t produced in every size I will keep in mind next time I ask!

PS my appt was at Sevres - maybe that could’ve contributed to the low stock of BKC?

It is okay to be specific but you also need to be open for options. The goal is to give the SAs an idea on what you are looking for and what options you would consider in case what you want is not available. This way you are helping the SAs look for a bag from the “range” that you like. That is why the words “any size” or “any color” is frowned upon, imagine how are the SAs supposed to look for a bag when a client says that.

Sèvres has indeed less stock than FSH.
also I’m not sure how Covid has affected production but rose Sakura was a color for spring summer 2021 and I’ve asked for it in end of March. My SA said it was too early and also mid June… still no RS. That’s when she told me it will not exist in 28 or 30.
Maybe fall/winter colors have begun now… therefore no more pastels ?
Keeping my fingers crossed for your visit in Lyon

I don't think they judge you by style per se. They are trained to scan who appears to be a reseller for sure. This was confirmed by my SA at FSH. You can come casual or in a suit but the vibe they are assessing you on is whether you are the actual end user. She explained to me that they are well trained in this regard. In fact, even the online appointment system has algorithms to detect resellers but she didn't elaborate on it. I assumed it could be a combination of nationality, passport numbers to attached phone number ratio (if 1 phone number tries using 5-6 passports for example - it could flag it) and possibly number of attemps etc. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

That’s probably true but I’m certain they judge you regardless - they have a finite number of bags and they have to make a calculation on who they should give those to, which is also the reason they have your appointment far from others and whisk you to secret rooms to show you your bags. They don’t only turn down people just because they might be resellers. I’m sure it’s also because they don’t think some person would be a good hermes brand ambassador. I had a marketing professor in paris who worked at hermes who talked a lot about the hermes brand and the way they cultivate scarcity so I think it would go against their ethos to just offer bags to anyone who had an appointment who didn’t appear to be a reseller.

So grab a glass of wine, tea, coffee or your beverage of choice—this may be a long post.

So my husband and I have been planning a very belated 25th anniversary trip to Europe (we are about to celebrate 29). But due to job changes and then Covid, our trip was postponed until now. My husband wanted to get me a Birkin (my first) while we were in Paris. He had read on the Amex platinum forums about concierges being able to get appointments for people. I told him I had read on here that with the new system in place that “making a phone call” from the concierge was a thing of the past.

In his conversations with the head concierge and general manager at our hotel, he was told that the concierge was part of some concierge society (not really sure what that meant) and could get us an appointment at FSH. The concierge emailed my husband back in July that we had an appointment at 11:30 on 9/13. I had my husband email the concierge back to check if it was an appointment for the leather department or just some random appointment. I explained to my husband that it had to be with the leather department or it would be worthless (probably). The concierge was furloughed as the hotel was closed for remodeling until 9/1 so we heard nothing back. Fast forward to now, while we’re in Europe.

As I was concerned about the appointment, both of us started registering through the online system starting the day before we arrived. 5 attempts for both of us and 5 denials for both.

My husband, at my request, emailed the concierge (who by this time we’ve now met in person) to ask about our appointment. Who should we ask for? Where should we go? We never heard back from him despite him answering another email my husband had sent. Needless to say, I was very skeptical of what was to come this morning.
While we were out for the evening last night, I went through the possible scenarios with my husband. If the appointment is really for the leather department, then this is how it should go. If it’s not, this should be plan B, plan C, etc.

So we got ready to leave this morning and went downstairs to get a cab (didn’t want to show up sweaty, etc from taking the metro there). We were greeted by the hotel general manager (who is wonderful, by the way. We had drinks with he and his wife our second night here) and the concierge. The concierge said he would accompany us to the store and wherever else we needed him. At this point I was starting to feel a little more optimistic. Until then I was seriously thinking it was just something he made up.

We arrived at the FSH store a few minutes before our appointment time. The concierge told someone who greeted us why we were there in French (so no, I didn’t understand a word, but heard our name). They then had us wait for a minute at a small table by one of the checkout desks (not far from where you walk in). After a moment or two we were greeted by a lovely young female. My husband had gone to the restroom so I started chatting with her. We talked about her recent return from vacation to Corsica and felt a good report being built. My husband returned and then the young woman introduced us to Valerie who would be our SA. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed as I hit it off with the first young woman. Valerie started pointing to the different parts of the boutique and asked where we’d like to go. My heart sank a bit because I thought she just thought we were there for general shopping and not for the leather department. My husband spoke up and in French told her I was looking for a bag. At that point she took us upstairs to a quiet area, which I hoped was a good sign. She asked me for my wishlist and after taking note of it all, she read it back to confirm. My first choice was a B30 in black with gold hardware. She said she would go check and be back.

Meanwhile, a woman across the room was being offered a dark blue birkin (didn’t hear the precise color) and then a black Constance mini. There was a couple sitting to our right who had been looking at watches (we were in the fine jewelry area).

After about 15 minutes Valarie came back with a large box and a small box (about the same as their shoe boxes). She said she thought I’d be happy and pulled out the most gorgeous B30 in black Togo leather with gold hardware!! It was love at first sight.
She then showed me what was in the other box. It was a new style that just launched (forgive me that I don’t remember the name. It started with an “A” I think). It was is etain and you can wear it folded over with a long crossbody strap or by the 2 small top handles. It was cute but I already own 2 more casual hermes bags so I politely declined.

I then asked to look at some scarves, rodeos and shoes. Valerie helped me in all areas, unlike normally where they hand you off from SA to SA in different departments. She was basically like my personal shopper. I ended up buying a rodeo and a scarf as well.

In a nutshell, I can’t be more grateful to our concierge and my husband for giving me what will be an experience I will never forget. It was beyond anything I could have hoped for.
I would encourage anyone to talk to their concierge ahead of time to see if they can do the same thing. Had it not been for him, I would be leaving Paris with amazing memories of an incredible trip with my adoring husband, but no birkin.

Thank you for letting me share my story.

Oh wow! Your hotel is amazing! May I know which hotel you stayed at? Congrats on scoring your dream bag!

That could be really frustrating! You probably are right and knew your H colors well. But I guess that is also another way of them saying: "I am not selling the bag that you like to you!"
