I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Hi, I too have an SO waiting and ready at FSH since feb, I was to go by May but doesn’t look like it, I would say Early August is probably a safer bet to plan for, weather is great and all this should died down by now... if it changes you can always prepone bookings, it won’t be an issue at all! Btw what are the specifics of your SO? Would love to hear!
I would love to hear your specs as well, I just posted mine.

I think you should go for trying for appointments as early as you’re comfortable - but definitely go for Oct 4! It’s most likely you won’t get it for that day because October is the start of golden week (chinese national holiday) so there will probably be a lot of tourists shopping. Paris also has a lot of sales at Galeries Lafayette and other dept stores and causes more tourists to come spend then too.

Thank you!! Yes — exactly! Can’t believe how stressful the whole thing is! Always trying to remember that “I’m in Paris— I should enjoy myself!”
Thanks so much for all of your advice! I successfully bought my Birkin 30 Bleu Nuit in France in October 2019. This thread was amazing to read. Thank you ladies for all of your support!

If you want to hear about My Birkin Story, feel free to check out my YouTube video (Juliet Picard Channel).

I also have an unboxing video which you can also watch on my YouTube channel that has footage from the Hermes boutique in Lyon.

Thanks again ladies for all of the support! Just wanted to share my success and thankfulness with all of you lovelies.

Congrats on the bag! I'm glad that you didn't settle for the Rose Pourpre and held out for your dream bag! Everything just fell into place for you.

Thank you all for your input and advice, I really appreciate it!! I think that I needed a healthy dose of reality from people who understand, as my cravings had taken ahold of the rational part of my mind. I am normally a very pragmatic gal but I always crave Paris in the springtime and autumn and apparently this year was no different. I was actually in Paiis this exact time last year, so I think that was a trigger for me. I think that I am going to try to go with the flow in the near term and continue to plan my November Paris trip with the hope that H FSH will be accommodating. My SO is B30 gris etain Togo with rose tyrien interior tonal stitching and phw. When I was at FSH n November when my SO wasn’t ready yet, my SA mentioned that I did not have an obligation to accept the SO when it arrives & I told him that was not going to happen, of course I was going to accept her. Little did I know that all of this would happen in the meantime. It’s also why I try my best to not use words like never and always, since you just never know what the future will hold. Thank you again!

Hey Izzy,
could you just have your SO shipped?
Talking from a personal point of view, no handbag, scarf, croissant or cheese (hard choice here! heheh :D ) would be worth risking my life :D

That is definitely worth considering and potentially asking H given these recent events. I will definitely give it some thought. While there is no doubt that I am beyond excited for my 1st SO, I also really want to go to Paris as I just love it so much. But there are some thoughts weighing on me, one is that I am currently in a really low risk environment and any travel would increase my risk much less a large densely populated city like Paris. That does not excite me and definitely gives me a lot of pause. The other is that the Paris of my memories (as recent as November 2019] may not be a reality in today’s environment and thus live up to my somewhat modified expectations which also gives me pause. What if I cannot go out and about like I like to do (which is highly likely) then even though I would physically be in Paris I really would not be enjoying Paris. I have to be honest in that I am now checking Google everyday to see when France might open borders for non EU visitors, September seems to be a timeframe that is getting tossed around, so your suggestion definitely has merit. Thank you for sharing!

I read an article recently in the front section of the NY Times, I think Sat or possibly Sunday issue, that showed a picture of an empty [section of the] city. People have to carry a piece of paper indicating why they're out on the street -- exercise, seeing a doc, groceries, etc. -- or get fined. I went to Paris in Oct. 2019 and it was quite nice, weatherwise, etc. But this time around you would find stores and museums closed. Well, hopefully this is a once-in-a-lifetime worldwide closure.

I have been watching David Leibovitz on IG stories and he’s been showing and explaining the process as well, it’s been quite interesting. I think that I read somewhere over the weekend that the government is not going to give guidance as to restaurants reopening until the end of May. I believe the H is preparing to ‘open’ mid May as the quarantine is to end May 11th. It does seem like it’s going to be interesting as to how opening of the city progresses.

Hey guys, Parisian here. I don't think it would be wise to plan any trip to France before September. I don't see how they would reopen the borders anytime soon. The quarantine was supposed to end on the 11th of May but they're saying now that it will depend on which department you live in. Paris is flagged as a red department (high risk), therefore it's still uncertain how things will evolve for us here. No one knows.
For now, we're not allowed to go out except for groceries, medical emergencies, work related emergencies or family emergencies. We have to file a form every time we leave our house and people who are not abiding by the law are fined. What's tragic is that many people seem not to care. I keep seeing from my windows people outside just enjoying their days. Will keep you updated. For now, all unnecessary shops are closed (incl. Hermès).

Thank you very much for sharing, I really appreciate it. I am crossing my fingers that my scheduled November trip will work out.

Thanks! My May flight was cancelled and I'm trying to figure out when to reschedule for before the anticipated second wave hits. Looking forward to your updates and please stay safe
