honestly I dont think that many countries can simply 'afford' to keep their borders closed for like half a year. If I recall correctly, Paris is the most visited place in Europe and so many hotels, restaurants etc are depending on foreign tourists. I know shopping is only #firstworldproblem, but I am pretty sure that the limitations will be lifted in late fall for most non-Schengen tourists.

In most part of Switzerland restaurants, shops etc open next Monday, still with a few limitations, which are absolutly bearable [emoji4]

I really hope this is soon over and we can enjoy the nice parts of our lives again [emoji173]️

Hey guys, Parisian here. I don't think it would be wise to plan any trip to France before September. I don't see how they would reopen the borders anytime soon. The quarantine was supposed to end on the 11th of May but they're saying now that it will depend on which department you live in. Paris is flagged as a red department (high risk), therefore it's still uncertain how things will evolve for us here. No one knows.
For now, we're not allowed to go out except for groceries, medical emergencies, work related emergencies or family emergencies. We have to file a form every time we leave our house and people who are not abiding by the law are fined. What's tragic is that many people seem not to care. I keep seeing from my windows people outside just enjoying their days. Will keep you updated. For now, all unnecessary shops are closed (incl. Hermès).
Thank you for this, I used to travel to Paris regularly for work related reasons, pre Covid and miss your beautiful city. I agree with you about no travel plans till at least September. When Paris ( or London ) re opens it will be a tentative attempt. When you are allowed to move freely again please post some photos - would love to see.

Of course!
The prime minister gave a speech last thursday by the way. Shops and businesses will reopen on the May 11th (excl. bars, restaurants and coffees) and we'll be free to go out and move around (as long as we stay within a 100km radius from our home). People can't travel longer distances unless it's for family or other emergencies.
They say we might have to spend the summer holidays within EU or France (depending on the progress we make and how fast the virus spreads).
The borders are still closed but they say that people who come from abroad (outside EU) will have to be quarantined for 14 days, this is not applicable to those who come from within EU.

I have such hope that this goes well for the EU countries. Are people wearing masks?

I would say half the people I see in Paris when grocery shopping wear masks, which are not mandatory. There are few available and as a rare product they are VERY expensive even for disposable masks. I'm afraid some families will struggle to buy them, especially those which already have money troubles in the end of every month
My DH and I always wear masks and very rarely go out. I am sewing dozens of fabric masks that I mail to my whole relatives and acquaintances, and they seem happy to get them.

I am trying to get an appointement at FSH the next days. I feel quite uncomfortable with such shallow concerns, BUT I have been irritated as I tried numerous times to get one in the past year, and never managed. I don't appreciate the fact that this shop seems to be dedicated to tourists and that local customers hardly ever can have an access to its extensive offer. Not wanting to be rude to you, fellow TPFers :-)

I think it's a brilliant idea. It's true that Parisians are not treated properly in FSH. The shop is indeed dedicated to tourists. I never managed to get a birkin/kelly either. I was offered an orange birkin one once but I declined (as I was looking for Etoupe or another neutral color).
It's not a shallow concern, don't be sorry. Just keep us updated, would love to hear about your finds.

Just got the SMS, no appointement for me tomorrow

I guess there is less SA working so not as much appointment. But you will for sure get on this week.
They must still personal shopper via locals try to get bags.

I need to go to Paris before the end of the month for work, will for sure take advantage of it to go to FSH.

I live in Belgium so still possible and allow for good reason.

Can you keep me update how it went for you? What are you looking for?
