Would like to ask you lovely ladies a question - I will be taking a train in to Paris on Tuesday, and after checking in at my hotel, I will only be able to pop by the store at about 3.30pm. I have read so many stories about not being able to get an appointment on the first try. If that is the case, should I try for an appointment for Tuesday? If I do get really lucky to get an appointment, but it is in the morning when I am not there yet, could I still turn up later in the afternoon ? Would I be “penalized” if I miss my appointment timing ? TIA!!

Just to remind you to be alert when you arrive at the train station, pickpockets are at work!!
My hubby’s wallet was stolen from his messenger bag even though it’s worn right in front of him!!

As for the FSH appt, I’ll just try for Tues. Even if arrive later (if you get an appt earlier), just explain that you could not make it earlier.

I was (almost) robbed in Paris, too. Luckily I had my herbag with me and luckily (too) I tend to stuff everything I really need into any shopping bag - even my purse. We all know how hard it is to get into a Herbag, and that she has that hughe advatage of that little attached purse and the additional compartment in the front. So I realized a pull and just a hand trying to pull out the little pouch out of my bag. I yelled (I am pretty good in yelling) and pulled my bag nearer to me. As my money and my cellphone were in the shopping bag and my ID was in the pouch nothing happend, but I was shaking.
 
Wow thanks for sharing all your stories about theft in Paris. I was careless because I stayed at the ritz and it was expensive bags/jewelry everywhere. It felt like a no big deal, but those vip also took car to wherever they needed to go. DH was adamant that all H and jewelry stay at the safe when we walk out. But I had to have the phone with me for obvious reasons.

On a side note: went to Cannes today but of course H is closed. Are they relationship based for selling rare bags as well? Lots of H in south of France... st tropez, marseille and Monaco. I remember reading Nice store was relationship only.

Lastly, my SA mentioned something interesting. He said when daily FSH delivery arrives, all bags and products are limited to the same few color/leather combo for that day. That’s because the craftsmen get large pieces of same leather to work with and afterwards produce bags of the same combo. So therefore if the store didn’t order a say birkin in that combo, then that color/leather B will not show up in delivery.

Ok here's my detailed Paris trip:

I was in Paris from this Wed afternoon-Saturday noon and tried for appt everyday using my and DH's phone. On Thursday evening, after another rejection for Friday, my cell phone was stolen at a restaurant. It was a beggar woman holding a sign at our table asking for change, when in fact her sign was to cover my phone and she slowly pulled it off the table. I didn't realize until too late.

I was very sad after this incident, and basically didn't even care about Hermes at this point. It is a huge inconvenience to be without a cell phone during travel. However Friday afternoon I decided why the hell not and try for a Sat AM appt before my flight and voila, I used my DH's phone and passport and he was approved for a 11:35AM appt. I was SHOCKED.

My Ritz hotel car is supposed to take my to the airport at 12:30PM the latest, so 11:35AM appt is really tight. I showed up at 10:35 and explained my flight situation and the leather receptionist was super nice and said no problem, you can have your appt now. I did not bring much H products with me this trip, so I only had a Kelly 28 R and some H strappy sandals on. My dress was Chanel. DH was wearing H polo and petit H cardholder haha (he's a good sport). I was introduced to a very nice SA named Thomas (not sure about spelling). He first asked if I had any France purchase history and I said no. He asked where I got my bag and I said USA. He also asked whether I wanted to look at "other items" first or bags first, so maybe if I dropped big $$$ first on other items, he would've produced different things?

Anyways, DH answered bags first and then "other items" later, kind of insinuating we will gladly buy other items as long as there is a bag product first. He said sure and started to take my wishlist. My first item was a croc Kelly and he was taken back and said that would be very hard, and asked if I was open to Ostrich. I said only dark ostrich only. Next item I said B30 Black, K28 Black or Red Sellier. And after that pretty much anything in neutral colors and flexibility in size. DH emphasized we would just like a nice souvenir LOL. He asked what bags I have already and I gave him my list plus upcoming SO which he commented wow you have a lot already. I think finally by this point he realized I know what I'm talking about and definitely not a reseller.

Thomas explained in detail that July and Aug are vacation days for the craftsmen, and production decreases up to 50% at this time. There was no shipment on Sat (don't know if this is every sat) so everything left in store was from the day before. Added on top of the fashion week bringing in VIP and rich clients, stock is lower than usual. (side note: Ritz Concierge also explained July 7th is the first day French people start their holidays) We also chatted about how nice the new appt system is vs the horrible lines before. He hated hated those lines and I was like yes they sound horrible etc lol.

Finally he went to the back to check stock and after less than 10 min, he came out with an orange box! At this time I saw people being shown GP, Herbag, roulis, Evelyn out on the main 1st floor. He asked that we go up to the 3rd floor to view it and I knew right away that it must be good item!! When we got up there, he produced K28 Epsom Sellier in Rouge Casque GHW. I emphasized earlier I want true red only and I must say it is a gorgeous vibrant bag. He told me that he only checked for K and not a B and that I will have to decline the K for him to check a B. For B I only wanted black and he said that's difficult. K black was also not available (despite one being on display). So I said yes to the Red!

Afterwards he asked if I needed a fourbi and I said I already have one. We walked around the store and picked up a beach blanket/towel and a men's sweatshirt. DH said we must buy some stuff from him because he did us a favor by giving us a coveted bag. I would've bought a few more small things but we ran out of time.

Our total was under 9000 euros before VAT refund for everything, and we walked out very happy. We thanked him many times. We left the store at almost noon and rushed back to hotel to finish packing. I don't know why we were able to get a bag today vs all the other people during the appt but I am happy. Perhaps it was just the right color combo, what I'm wearing and a genuine connection with the SA. I wanna thank everyone here who's shared their FSH stories, they were really helpful for me.

A couple of important things I can confirm:
-You can show up to your appt early (or later) if needed
-Hermes employees gets 5 wk vacation a year and most take it starting July 7 (since I doubt they are allowed to leave during fashion weeks) until August.
-Maybe no deliveries on Saturday, so go early Sat as possible.
Love reading your story and so so sorry to hear your phone got stolen on your trip but having been able to score your Kelly was very nice! Congratulations and have a great day.
 
@mochipuppy i am so sorry your phone was stolen. They'll pull up all antics to be able to take advantage of any situation. I almost got my phone stolen too in Galerie Lafayette.

But on the side note, congratulations on the beautiful RC Kelly! RC is trully a magnificent red, and thanks for sharing your experiences too ❤️ Special shout out to DH who is super supportive!

Haha yes. He hates playing the Hermes “game” but cannot pass on a chance to get a rare bag haha. He’s a good sport and was giddier than me when leaving the store LOL. He told me if we might miss the appt due to the flight to nice, he said just change the flight. H is more important

Thank you all so so very much for reading my earlier post and responding with candid and direct feedback as requested, with @footlocker seeming to hit it head on. The candidness and feedback from you all's experiences really helped put things in perspective for me and helped me to realize that they were not playing "mind games," as I felt. In my naiveness to really want a purse and hope for the best, my mind was racing in all areas. I also had to get my husband in the game and help to understand that even those these are extreme luxury goods, the availabity and sales process is on a totally different level we were not use to, even though I did a lot of research!

Based on your feedback, it put me in another mind frame and I looked at things from the angles you all presented, and then became very grateful for the relationships that I quickly built with the Hostess and Men's Sales Associate, which I felt were genuine, but questioned when I didn't get the bag on Thursday.

Listening to your feedback, I took action and went the "extra mile" to secure my bag!!

Another post to come soon - but again, thank you all so much for reading my story and taking the time to provide valuable insightful feedback!!

“Follow up to Sad but Interesting Paris Story” that actually has a happy ending and I thank you all for your feedback!

So after review of you all’s thoughts and feedback on my 1st post, I decided I should not give up on trying to obtain my “dream bag” on THIS trip to Paris.

I talked to my husband and we agreed to extend our trip - wanting to change from Friday evening departure to Saturday evening departure with hopes to visit FSH for the 4th time on Friday afternoon or Saturday!

So we make a flight change and were scheduled to leave Sunday morning!

Here I am, desperate and ready to go again, and not wanting to be told NO and deflated all over again!

We go on our tour Friday morning, so mid-day I e-mailed the HS and asked could I stop and hopefully get an appointment with a leather specialist and she promptly responded to my e-mail saying to come, but it had to be within the hour. Well, where we were located and still being on the tour, there was no way I was going to make it in the hour. So I immediately thanked her and explained that we were extending our stay with one of the hopes of actually going home with a bag.

I then immediately went to the scheduling system and requested a Saturday appointment, and then followed up with her via e-mail and regretfully apologized that I couldn’t make it within the hour, but that I put a request in the system and was hoping “begging, pleading, praying” for a Saturday appointment! She responded saying good idea with putting in system as she was off on Saturday, but would also put in a good word with another Hostess and the Men’s Sales Consultant “MS”. I thanked her and my husband and I enjoyed our afternoon.

Well, around 7:40 pm I received the text and e-mail that I did not get the appointment, so needless to say I was a wreck, but I wouldn’t give up!

I immediately e-mailed the HS and MS and said that I didn’t get the appointment, however my plans on Saturday would be to visit FSH and hopefully get seen.

My husband and I showed up around 1:30 p.m. and I was lucky to find the MS that I had built the rapport with and e-mailed. He smiled and we seemed genuinely happy to see each other.

We small talked for about 30-45 minutes and then he asked me to find my husband in the store and have a seat in the dressing room. I moved quickly and we were all sitting, then he stepped away and came back about 15 minutes later with a Leather Sales Consultant that had a large box in her hands. She handed it to him and walked off!

He said I hope you will love this, as I think this is the exact bag you want!

I opened it and was in SHOCK. It was the B35 Clemence Rouge Casaque which was the bag I really wanted! I jumped for joy and kept expressing my thanks!

I purchased the bag along with a twilly, Sandals, and 2 belts!

As you all stated, being nice and friendly along with persistence and follow up really pays off!

Mochipuppy, I visited the Cannes store last Dec. According to the SA, if she has a B K or C, she’ll sell it to me. I bought an Halzan 31, along with a huge plate and a bracelet but didn’t manage to get any B K C from there.

Indeed, u have been receiving wonderful & VIP treatment from both SA at FSH. U are a lucky lady ;)
