Hi ladies, I'll be visiting Paris at the end of June (during the summer sale). I was wondering if I can't get an appointment at FSH, should I go to Sevres or George V at 10:30am to try to get an appointment? I'd like to get a K28 or B30.

Also, if the bag costs €7,400, does it include VAT?

Thanks!

The price includes VAT. They only gave me a credit card refund option not cash. 10%. I received the refund via my cc in about 2 months.

In my experience Sevres requires purchase history to get a B K or C. Not sure about George V as I've made Sevres my main store in Paris. I've never had luck with FSH but have scored B, K and C's at Sevres before. It helps to go to the leather section a bit later, after the initial rush dies down. Maybe go in around 10:30, shop around for other goodies first before letting your SA know you're interested in bags?

Wanted to share my very recent experience at FSH.
1) Previous purchase history at Hermes: A few wallets, perfumes and colognes. Never tried building a profile at a store mostly because I didn't think it was worth the effort. As a result, no SA relationship and definitely no concentration of purchases in a single shop.
2) Was indecisive as between Kelly and Birkin, but think I preferred to get the Kelly because of the cross-body strap. Was open to either.
3) Went to Paris for Easter weekend. Signed up for an FSH appointment for Friday, and Saturday, and didn't score either. My hotel is across the street from the FSH store so I figured I'd stop by and throw up a stink. The SAs assured me it was random. I bought a scarf in protest, and said I'd consider buying another if they gave me an appointment (it was an obvious joke).
4) FSH was closed on Sunday and Monday. But I got an appointment for today... at 1820.
5) Definitely didn't think there would be anything left by the time I got there. But my appointment came, and the staff was extremely friendly and honest with me. I made very broad requests (basically, I asked for a Kelly or Birkin in certain sizes and in broad color categories; I didn't want an exotic leather or weird colors, esp not for my first Birkin). SA went down and came back with a big box.
6) Box contained a 35 Birkin in (I think the color was) Azure. It was a bit too loud for me, and I declined. She said they have a 30 B Epsom in Etain, and a Kelly in some green color in stock, and she could try to bring them, but no guarantees they would be still there by the time she went downstairs.
7) Kelly was apparently sold, but the 30 B Epsom Etain came up. From what I knew about the color from seeing it online, I wasn't sold. But when I saw the bag in person, I was in love. So I bought it.

I asked the SA whether I should come back another day for a Kelly. She said not in the near term but to try for the Kelly later this year. I will likely do just that.

Overall, I'm really happy about this bag. At the end of the day, it's just a bag. I'm glad I was able to get one without much effort or buying items from Hermes that I didn't really want (i.e., I'm not buying a bag I don't want to get a bag I do want). I also don't like overpaying (i.e., I'd never buy a Birkin in the US). I was very frank with the SA about these points. I was thinking my candor would be so off-putting that she'd refuse to sell me the bag. But it made her more candid and I think I made a good SA relationship, although I don't know if/when I'll ever use it again. I bought the second scarf.

Advice for people ITT wanting this bag and from FSH, with my anecdotal evidence:
1) Don't travel to Paris on weekends for this. If the appointment thing is truly a lottery, the lottery pool will be a lot larger for what is probably the same fixed number of spots. The math just doesn't work in your favor. If I go again to buy another bag, it'll easily be for Tues, Weds, Thurs. Never Fri, Sat, or Sun.
2) Wear a good attitude. I saw a lot of people who were obviously eager, anxious., envious (?), or otherwise just unpleasant. Just go in and have fun. If you don't get what you want, it's NBD.
3) I was able to get a B on my first try without even putting in that much effort. It seems like in the past there was a line system. I'm so glad that's gone. I don't wait in line unless it's for fast food, and fast food is the only exception because the line should move quickly right? Anyways, my point is I think people over-emphasize the relationship building aspect here. It's definitely applicable for everything non-FSH, but from what I can tell the only way your relationship matters is your spot in the day your appointment falls on (but I don't have a lot of data to support that unfortunately). When the person was trying to pull up my profile, it was hilarious because she didn't find anything. Although I had pulled out my wallet to show a leather color I liked, so she knew it wasn't my first Hermes purchase.

Pix are here. Sorry for the lighting.
+100. I started reading and following about the Hermes shopping forum late year when the lines were horrible, and sitters camped out overnight to get a spot. I visit Paris frequently enough (used to live there) and now my good friend has moved there. There’s always a reason/excuse to fly over, don’t get me wrong as I’ve always loved Hermes and purchased several things over the decades (no history to speak of since it was so long ago) but since my banking days, my lifestyle is a lot simpler now, and hardly fancy or dressed up.

The idea to visit the mothership began after my Easter trip was booked. Why not give it a go I say? I was more keen to buy a new belt with buckle that I consigned a few years ago cuz back in the 90s belts were crafted shorter since women didn’t start wearing jeans lower like they do now. The first 2 attempts were rejected and finally got an appt first thing Saturday morning. The door opening scene was hilarious, not far off from Black Friday at Walmart! I was assigned an older really sweet SA who asked me the usual questions. We discussed sizing and thought B30 would be the right fit. I happened to carry on me a similar style tote she estimated was equivalent to 32, I’d be open to 35 since I was reluctant with going smaller than 32, but wouldn’t kick the 30 out of bed. I specified 3 family colors: black, brown/beige and grey and flat out said no pink, red, blue, green etc. they’re beautiful I’ve seen the reveals here but just not for me. We discussed the Kelly which does come in 32 , that’s also a possibility. She summed up that Birkin must be my first choice and Kelly my second, I hadn’t even thought of it in those terms now that I think about it, so I just gave her a Gallic shrug, whatever she thought was best.

I used the waiting time to people watch... saw some nieces with their “uncles” haha, a woman in kitted head to toes in Chanel easily worth 50K. I had zero expectations about the outcome once other SAs started coming back from downstairs and I overheard that B/K have been sold out since Friday, and due to Easter no delivery on Sat blah blah blah. Surely I can buy my belt now. Lo and behold my SA eventually (15-20min later?) came back with a huge box with little boxes on top. I experienced a prolonged Sally Field Oscar moment “is that for me” and “you really liked me” and I wasn’t too exacting? She found B35 in cuivre (copper) which is a brick/dark brown color. It’s a lovely color very particular to the French I find, have really never seen American or Italian designers attemp it. She also brought up a rodeo charm that I accepted and an insert which I declined as I already have something, and theirs don’t seem to fit exactly the inside as I though it would. Kinda odd.

We spent the next 30 minutes looking for belts and the hammered H buckle that I loved and found out it was introduced in 2005. They didn’t have the belt in tan and black color, so I got the black and grey instead. Then we went downstairs to settle the invoice. I asked for a few moments to search online which of my Visa or MC had sufficent credit, I truly was unprepared! My fallback was to use Amex but got it from here the pros and cons said about using it (thanks ladies!!). I then Skyped cc bank about large pending purchase and oh yea, I’m traveling and it’s a legit charge.

My main takeaways is with an experienced SA , they know how to read between the lines, body language and try to deliver a positive shopping experience. I also suspect that there is quite a bit of bartering going on among the sales staff as to who gets to offer what (size, color etc). There’s not enough inventory to meet demand on a daily basis so they must take turns to make their sales. Wouldn’t surprise me that my SA has been at Hermes 15+ years, hence she has a track record of closing sales. I asked for a white shopping bag instead and went my way back to the apt on metro.

I realize how lucky I was to have had such pleasant and enjoyable shopping trip, maybe she picked up the vibe that it wasn’t the end all and be all for me. I met up with good friends in Paris, ate really well and just enjoyed my time as I have always.

Congrats on scoring this beauty for your first B. I'm from the US and have been paying more than European prices. Although it is very easy to say that US prices are a premium, I see it as the same if you do the math and start adding travel cost to Paris. Plus it is a random draw of luck to score an appointment, get a friendly helpful SA or just to be turned down and come home empty handed. It is a bonus to have on the trip but I would not plan it solely to visit FSH. For the time and money you save and potential disappointment, I find great enjoyment shopping in the US with my loyal SA. From the other threads, I'm seeing that it is much more easier to get your dream bag in the US without throwing in a ton of purchase. Whether it is due to price difference and people getting it overseas or just a pure decline in the popularity of Bs & Ks, the chance is much higher than a few years ago. I would still visit FSH is it is part of my travel plans to Europe but I would not solely do it for this purpose. But that is just me.

I was in Paris for three days last week and tried to get an appt online 2 days in a row and then finally got an appt the last day when I asked the SA in the womenswear section to help me... I had purchased over 5000 euros the two preceding days. Although I was happy to get my appointment, I wasted 2 hours in the store with my appt shifting from 12:45 pm to 3 pm. I think I would have much rather spent the afternoon at Le Petit Palais. After all that, there were no Kelly pochettes. She brought out an alligator Constance wallet which I also saw at CDG duty free.

A disappointment for sure and I don't think I'll be wasting my time again that way. I'll just stick to my home stores and the ones that I visit travelling around the world.
Thanks for sharing your experience. What I just heard is exactly the reason why I don't want to travel to FSH solely to score a bag. There are lots of 'excess' inventory of other SLGs and non Bs & Ks worldwide that you can get so it seems redundant when FSH offers them as a consolation price to turning your down for a B and K.

Thanks. I think we agree. I would never make a trip specifically to Paris to visit FSH or get the Birkin/Kelly. We were already planning to go there (and were very close to just doing Barcelona instead, in which case definitely no Hermes bag purchases would've happened). And had my hotel (the Crillon) not been across the street, I probably wouldn't have even tried for FSH. I don't like to take huge chunks of time out of my day to shop for things as I visit Paris mostly for food, art, museums, etc. But the appointment process (including the previous two requests) and bag purchase process literally didn't take more than 30 minutes. IDK if I'm special (i think every millenial suffers from special flower syndrome) in that they "decided" to let me purchase one (and that too a neutral color...). I refuse to believe that I am, and therefore the other conclusion must be that getting the bag just isn't that hard. Just don't do peak travel times like weekends, esp holiday weekends, holiday seasons, peak tourist high seasons, etc.

But yes, obviously, making a trip to Europe JUST to purchase the Birkin at a lower price defeats the purpose of that trip. It helps that I'm frequently in Europe for work anyways :-). With that added convenience. there's rarely any point to buying any of my European-made luxury goods in the US. True to form, I've bought all my Chanels, Hermes, Celines, Rolexes etc. in Europe. And my Loro Piana SA in Europe knows to send mail my purchases to my US address so I get the full 20% VAT back :-)

Thank you to everyone who shared my excitement about my new Kelly. I'm back home and want to share more details about my experience. Leading up to my trip I emailed my SA requesting an appointment. We met last March when I got my K28 Bleu Zanzibar and she gave me her card and told me to send her an email to make an appointment next time I’m in Paris. I sent the e-mail three weeks prior to my trip and I didn't hear back from her and I settled with trying my luck with the online appointment system. I decided to try contacting her one more time and followed up with a second e-mail when I was on the plane ready to take off that I would be in Paris the next day. When I landed on Wed 3/21 around 11am I signed up for an appointment request online which was super easy. I was travelling with my mom and after dropping off our bags at the hotel we went to lunch. While at lunch I checked my e-mail and my SA responded! She asked if I can be at the store by 3pm. It was 2:10pm when I saw her e-mail and luckily we weren't that far from FSH. We quickly ate and headed over. Walking into FSH, I noticed right away it was much quieter than last year. We walked around a bit and then went to the leather dept front desk and gave the name of my SA that I had an appointment with. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and nice enough. My SA came out to greet us and took us upstairs to the women's clothing section. We spoke about the new system briefly and she is much happier with the online appointment system. I wasn't sure if she would only take my requests or would she help my mother as well. Luckily she took both! I asked for a K32 in neutral color with palladium hardware only. I requested gold, etoupe, gris asphalt etc. My mother requested a Birkin 30 neutral didn't care about the hardware. We waited for about 20 minutes. During that time we relaxed, browsed, and people watched. There were some chic women shopping around the women's clothing dept. My SA reappeared with two large boxes. First she helped my mom and showed her a B30 Barenia with gold hardware. She talked about the Barenia leather and it was STUNNING! My mom was unsure because as beautiful as it was the leather wasn't for her. My mother prefers pebbled leather than smooth and she couldn't commit. The SA offered to go back and check something else for her. She came back with a Barenia Faubourg Gold B30 with palladium hardware and my mom was sold! She loved the leather so much more. Next was my turn and she got me the second color on my list and I almost passed out from glee and jet lag. K32 Etoupe Togo with palladium hardware. I think this size suits me so much better than my K28 so I’m happy I was lucky to get this. Also I should clarify this was all happening on the sales floor in the women's department and not in a private room. It was quiet but there were still people walking around. I did see one couple being offered bags the same time as my mom and I. I was so jet lagged and loopy I forgot to ask for anything else and bought the bag and left soon after. I did go to H Sevres and George V locations the following days of my trip. I highly recommend the Sevres store! I've never been and it was so nice and easy to shop around. Later that Wednesday evening I received a notification that I didn’t get an appointment through the online system. I never tried again either. I wonder if I didn’t have the appointment with my SA and requested one as a walk in, would I have been seen because it was so quiet. So here is some more eye candy of the bags my mom and I got at FSH. You’ve already seen my Kelly but here is my mom’s B30 Barenia Faubourg!!

Congrats on your double score! Such beautiful neutrals! Mind sharing how much is the price for your K32?

Hi everyone! I’m going to be in Paris in June and only have my sa’s first name to hopefully be able to find her at FSH when I’m already there. I was wondering if anyone can perhaps put me in contact with their sa so I can either let them know ahead of time when I’m there and my wishlist or maybe they can put me in contact with her prior to me getting there? It would be greatly appreciated!!

The H angels were watching out for you and all the stars were aligned. You're indeed lucky to be able to go to Europe often for business trips and I would do the same if I were you and skip the high prices in the US.

May I know how did you get the full 20% refund? Although I didn’t buy anything from FSH during my last visit in 2016, the SA told me they only give 10% max via cc. I got that same rate back for my purchases from H at Cannes last Dec, so I presume it’s the same. I did enjoy 13% refund from my Chanel purchase @ Rue Cambon in 2016 n was given a choice to opt for cash refund.

Will be most helpful to know because I’m visiting FSH in Jun. TIA.

Thanks!
In my experience George V is highly relationship-based as it's much smaller store compared with Sevres and FSH
