I was so sad on your 1st appointment but I also immediately felt relieved by your attitude! Its very rare to read that the SA will you many options of what they have in store.... it seems more like "i offer you this xxxx and thats it, take it or leave it" or at least i haven't read much stories where SA gives you options up front to choose from, so lucky! Tells us if what you were wearing (shoes, handbags, clothing etc), do you think anything of that sort influenced your luck in getting a bag? CAnt wait to see the pics! xoxo
Actually - I had on Black trousers and a nondescript black shirt - both from Zara - Valentino sneakers on my left foot and my husband’s havaianas on my right...and my winter Moncler coat and a Chanel scarf - very simple - no jewelry - we were literally just popping in to ask if it was a possibility to see someone...I don’t think it’s what you wear- but I do think that being positive and polite and engaging can go a long way- I do believe they will try to help you- if they can - and I’m also positive they are the bearer of bad news more frequently than to make someone’s Birkin dreams come true ...it’s tough and I’m sure exhausting for the SA’s too ...

Firstly - Annabel’s what a gorgeous bag ! I was eyeing a similar one at Ann’s Fabulous Finds ...but it’s now gone...
Anyway - as promised - my story and experience at FSH ... It was mine and our family’s first ever trip to Paris and it has always been a dream of mine to visit the magnificence that is Paris...but onto the important stuff...prior to arriving in Paris I sprained my little toe in Munich and I was limping around Paris while wearing the only thing thing that I could fit my swollen toe comfortably- and that was my husband’s Havaianas ! Not the chicest way to tour Paris - but what does one do ??
We arrived in Paris , Friday January 29th in the afternoon - I had already applied for an appointment the day before - but I was unsuccessful (which I hoped I would be as we were traveling on the 29th)... and promptly reapplied for the Saturday... and I was successful for a Saturday appointment promptly for 10.30 !!
The next day we woke up nice and early and made it down the street to fsh - it was surprising to see a long line of people waiting outside (at least 20 people)-My heart sank a little thinking they had changed back to the old system ...the doors opened and everyone made a dash for the upstairs...again - I got a little panicked thinking all the said bags would have been gone and my chance with it ...as ridiculous as this sounds- but when you are there - it’s hard not to get caught up in the moment ...we lined up to show our appointment emails/texts to a lovely lady who then assigned an SA to whoever was next ...and we met with a young and lovely blonde -she put us aside and asked what me what I was looking for - I was looking for a 35cm Birkin in orange or blue- preferably with gold hardware and a sturdy leather ...she went away for a loooooong time - and of course I thought that was a good sign - she came back and regretfully told me there was nothing with those specs in the store...she was so sweet and sincere - I did not at all doubt her honesty.
She gave me her card and asked me to come back and check with her while we were still in Paris - and then let me know I could email her before we visit Paris -she told me she received over 100 emails a day !
Even though I was disappointed- I did brush it off and said “it’s just a bag - but if it’s meant to be- it will be!” I feel that way about a lot of things in life- even Hermes leather goods ! I did observe that no one was walking out with big orange boxes - but I did see a pouting wife and an annoyed husband loudly protesting it was their last day...I completely understand their frustration ...the store was super crowded and busy and we spent the rest of the morning buying gifts for family and DH went shopping .
The following Tuesday (Monday was New Year’s Day) we went to the Sevres boutique to see if they had anything - what a lovely store ! When I enquired about looking at a bag - they luckily had appointments left for that afternoon - when it was my turn - (the SA was the first I had seen looking harried and clearly frustrated) - she made it clear from the first moment- “we have no more b/k/c”...but surprisingly I wasn’t disappointed...
on our way back to our hotel - we noticed FSH was still open - and we decided to see if our SA from my appointment with available - but no luck- it was super crowded ...so with another shrug of our shoulders we left .
While this was going on- my husband kept on getting rejected for an appointment. On Wednesday night my husband suggested - why not pop in and ask ? Our hotel was literally a minute away - and we were flying out Thursday afternoon ...so we popped in and for the first time it was very calm...lovely...we enquired at the desk and let them know I had an appointment the previous Saturday morning (showed them my email) and our SA suggested we pop in - was it possible to speak to someone ? Yes- of course madame !
We were asked to wait and we were approached by a lovely SA who took us to a back room and asked what we were looking for- we made some small talk - she remarked she’d visited our home town (we haven’t lived there in 15 years) and mentioned she had her purse snatched there (uh-oh!) ...and then we got down to business - She went away and gave me 3 options : a 35 Black Kelly (I have one) and 2 35 Birkins- one in cuivre and the other in a printed canvas ...she told me she could show me both - and showed me a picture of the printed canvas- it had chains on it- something I’m sure I would have preferred in a kelly ...I told her I’d Like to have a look at the cuivre first and if it’s possible to see the printed canvas if the cuivre didn’t work out ...so she then showed us to the leather room that was behind us - and proceeded to unpack the cuivre and explaining it’s palladium ...oh no ...I had my heart set on gold hardware-but I thought - let me see how I respond - and she took it carefully out of the box - wowza ! it ! The cuivre is a warm copper that is a cross between potiron and gold - I asked to try it - and it just ...looked and felt right- it is a much more casual bag than my rouge grenat GHW 35B- with a completely different feel and vibe- so with a huge grin I literally pounced on it and almost embraced everyone as we were leaving FSH - it was so nice to have everyone so happy for me (at least I thought they were - I was pretty euphoric !)
The leather is a new one called Novillo - it is a cross between swift and Togo ...it is so much lighter than my Togo 35B .
As we left fsh - we checked our emails and my husband received a confirmation for the following day at 1!! We went back to fsh the next day and told them we weren’t going to make it and to give the appointment to another (hopefully) lucky person !
I promise I will post some action shots soon- but our 40 foot container was delivered and I’m busy organizing the house - but I wanted to at least share my story with you all - as wonderful as the photos are - I think the stories are just as great - I have fervently been following your stories for a few months and cheered you on when one is touched by the H fairy and felt your heartache when you’ve left fsh without your dream bag - thank goodness for all you lovelies here on the forum ...thank you!

What an awesome story! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us! I do believe the attitude is everything! I hope your toe recovers quickly. Can't wait to see pics!

Total newbie here. Hope you all don't mind. Does Hermes have an international database of all purchases? I recently bought my 1st Hermes piece, a bastia, for my birthday. Met a very nice SA that I'm sure I will go back to every time I make a future purchase. I'm slowly dipping my toes into Hermes waters, but my goal one day is to own a Kelly. My question is when I go to Paris in the future, will they see my purchase history and will that help me with a Kelly? It will take some time I know, but if I get offered a Kelly in the States should I pounce knowing that I may not get one in Europe even though it is cheaper to buy it there?

Here is my story. It started with me requesting for an appt on Saturday before getting on my flight on Sunday. I received a notification that I was not granted an appt. I have to say I felt sad and started to wonder if I’ll even get one during my trip. Left for Paris on Sunday and landed around 10:30am. First order of business was requesting an appt for Tuesday. I got to my hotel around 1pm on and after freshening up, I headed to FSH. I had renewed my passport and wanted to make sure they had connected my profile with this new passport. So, I purchased a clic H and a couple of cashmere scarves. When I went to pay, the cashier asked me if I had changed my passport, I replied that I had because my old passport expired.

At 7:30pm, I received a text indicating that I was granted an appt and it was for 11:30am.

On Tuesday(today), I got to FSH and my appt moved out to 12:20, went to Laudree and got tea to pass time. The time kept changing between 11:50-12:20. At 12, I went into FSH and checked-in with the hostess. My hostess asked me to wait and check my phone for a text when SA is available. It took about 20 min before I got the text(12:20ish). When I went to the counter where the Hostess was, a cheerful male SA greeted me and asked me if I was “Ms.Lastname”. I said yes and he said let’s go upstairs. I told him my friend was shopping in the men’s dept and I would let her know before going upstairs. He said he would go with me. He commented that he liked that we were in the men’s department and that my friend could join me if I wanted. I said she would once she was done shopping. Me and the SA then sat down upstairs and he asked me what I wanted. I told him I wanted a Kelly 32 but, wasn’t 100% sure on size. He said I could do 28cm as well. We then started talking colors. My preferences were Black, Bleu Nuit or any darker neutral. My SA told me to give him more options and encouraged me look at colors as 28 was a good size to play with color. I told him I loved red and if he showed me Red, I'd take it but, I have too many reds. He told me he'd be back and left. He came back shortly with one bag sized box and 3 smaller boxes. He said I have something nice for you but, give me few minutes to show it to you. I didn't understand why we were waiting(we were waiting for a private room). He then let me to a private room and started to reveal the bag. Before he started, I told him that based on the size of the box, I thought it was a a Kelly 28. He said "you have a good eye". It was a K28 in Black with gold hardware. I jumped in my seat a little. OMG! Exactly what I wanted. He then showed me an insert which I took and charms(dog collar like). The charms were clunky and noisy, I turned them down. I then asked for a GA Garden party which was sitting on display and a Halzan. After completing my bag selection I bought other things in the store as well.

The SA checked my profile while we were talking colors and leather, he said he liked that I had various H items( I had been to FSH on one previous trip back in May last year). The minute I saw the SA I had a good feeling about it but, didn't expect to get a black K28 GHW at all. I'm thrilled to say the least and I showed it by buying a bunch of things I didn't think I was going to buy.
