When I asked a FA for the custom form on the return fight from Barcelona last November I was told they are no longer needed. In fact she said they don't have any on board.

When I was coming back from Paris last month, the purser was walking down the aisles with the forms. However, when I asked to get one, she replied "they don't want US citizens to use these forms."

Hmmm. Maybe this is a very recent change? I was in Paris at the beginning of November.

It might just be something to do with destination. I'm located in NY, so usually fly into and end my trip at JFK. But last month trip, I entered the country via Chiago O'hare, as I was transiting for a flight to Seattle.

Interestingly, I don't recall seeing any of the kiosks at ORD, so I don't get how one is to go through immigration and custom without the blue custom form. Oh, I got the form on the plane as I'm not a US citizen.

Btw, custom guys at ORD were great! They knocked down several hundreds dollars to make my declared amount even thousands and just applied 3% for all. I ended up paying much less than expected.

Oh, and I always declare the prices without VAT. :)

ONG! Still can't believe it! Live from the mothership!

My friend and I arrived in Paris on Sunday, January 8 and lined up on Monday morning. Both us scored: presenting my B25 in rough grenat in swift and my friend's K35 in rough grenat in clemance! Detailed story will follow later today. Thanks for allowing me to share our joy and exitment!

Congrats! Love the color!

If I wait in line before fsh opens, am I able to make the appointment for my husband and not for myself? I may not be able to return for an appointment later in the day but my husband can, but he will not wait in line for an appointment. Hope that makes sense. Thanks ladies.

Another shoutout to declare! Honestly, before delving headfirst into the world of Hermes, I had never declared but after reading the advice in this thread, I persuaded my DH that is essential (as a frequent traveler, he was more worried about prospect of future bag checks slowing him down than any tax amount-heh!) . Well, his honesty paid of when the customs agent waved him through without any tax despite declaring a Constance and other H goodies of sizeable amount...now he is a believer!

Congrats! Really love both!! Stunning color!! I really like the Birkin but I think I am more of a Kelly girl because I need the shoulder strap to carry my bags....so thinking about scoring a Kelly soon!!

I dont think it matters who goes for the actual appointment. The appointment time may move around though. So if you provide your mobile number you will receive the text about the appt times. If he is going you may want to provide his mobile number.

Good luck!

Please help!

I was able to score an Alligator handbag in Paris and came back to U.S yesterday, happy as a clam.

However, I just got a phone call from US Customs, asking me to pay for the custom taxes. Apparently, they said French Customs notified them because it's exotic leather. And the tax rate could go as high as 100%[emoji31]

Does anyone have experience on similar situation? Shall I consult with a lawyer?

I don't know what to do now...100% is way too much...

TIA.

I hope you sort this out and don't have to pay 100% of the cost. Keep us posted!

Hi, everyone! This is my FSH story and I am not a good writer lol.
Went couple of times to FSH myself but was told that they have no Kelly's in stock, but I can check Sevres store if I want.
Yesterday I decided to line up with my husband and get two appointments. Since I was a bit over the idea of standing in lines in winter, I almost didn't go to FSH yesterday, but then decided to give it another try and lined up around 10.10am. Our appointments were for 12pm. So not so many people in line this time of the year.
I was told no Kelly's again. But my husband, on the other hand, managed to get me a Kelly )) He told SA that my first color choice was etoupe, then any other neutral, then "fun" colors, any hardware (but preference for gold) and Togo leather (although I was ok with other leathers as well, but my husband called me asking about leather choices and he couldn't understand word "epsom", so he just said Togo [emoji23]).
His SA was very lovely lady, she helped to get the accessories for the bag and I think she chose nice stuff, cause my husband doesn't understand women's fashion and could have been sold on anything less nice and useful. But she did great. She picked twilly, rodeo, insert ( and passport cover for my husband).
I am not sure about the insert since I can see its edges pushing leather when bag is closed, but I already shipped boxes home, so can't exchange it.

((Overall most of the staff is very nice at FSH, day and night comparing to my home store. The other day I tried to see if I can pull the care tag off my new beanie hat (not a Hermes hat), but it didn't work. So to my surprise few second later I saw SA with scissors coming my way lol And I was not makiIMG_1484076073.318372.jpgIMG_1484076073.318372.jpgng a scene out of it, so don't know how he noticed that. Also I was not trying anything on or buying. That was very nice of him.))

The bag is Kelly 28 Retourne in Bleu Nuit Togo with GHW. I am tall and at first sight retourne style seemed smaller than I expected, but it still looks good on my frame. Next time I can expand my choices to size 32 retourne which will probably look like 28 sellier. Cause I think 32 is easier to find.
Thank you all for your helpful advises and stories! IMG_1484075362.602793.jpgIMG_1484075378.936677.jpgIMG_1484075395.273609.jpgIMG_1484075407.940680.jpgIMG_1484075420.994168.jpg
I put the twilly on the bag myself, so it doesn't look perfect. Have to practice.
