I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Not to go way off topic, but if each bag takes 18+ hours to make (that's the party line), that's USD$44/hour without the materials costs. I'm sure there is a thread somewhere breaking this down. The rule of thumb a few years ago was that designer bags were priced at 13x manufacturing cost with much of that cost in marketing, so $800 makes sense, but after materials that's low wages for someone who studies five years...
ETA: I debated saying this, and mods please delete if inappropriate, but the 'ultra superfakes" cost much, much more than $800, which also causes me to doubt this number.

I got this number from The Economist where not all analysts are 101% certain of their analysis. So we could be right (or wrong). Hermes will never publish this number so it was a punt

Oh I thought the appointment system was just for FSH. Didnt know it applied to Sevres as well.

I was planning to go sometime in January for a B or a K after my fail in August, is the stock really really low ?

I don't know if this is true. Based on my experience and only of my experience sevres had more options and when I went more ppl were offered bs and ks at sevres. I'll let other weigh in as well. As of last week yes appt system applies for both hermes sevres and Fsh (those were the only ones that I went to four days ago). Good luck!

Hi all, this is my first post on TPF. I arrived Paris on Tuesday last week around 11am and headed to Sevres Hermes (where an SA served me 2 years ago) I showed her my wish list consisting of non leather and leather goods. After which, she showed me a b30 in etoupe but I am really looking for a croc bag (my first!) so I turned it down. Sigh, i never had much luck with exotics. I was pretty exhausted from the shopping so I went back to my hotel to rest (initially was thinking of rushing down to FSH to see if i can score an appointment)

The next morning I queued at FSH main entrance around 8.15am and there were about 6 people in front of me, there was a bit of "queue-cutting" but I was too darn excited about the whole experience so I didn't really care heh. Could feel my heart racing for the next 2 hours!!! Ahhh.. Finally, the main door opened and everyone was pushing from the back (yikesss), but i guess they were all too excited and nervous to get in! I became about the... 18th in line? But still managed to see an SA immediately. I have never met him before and unfortunately didn't manage to catch his name.

He seemed pretty distracted when I first met him but warmed up slowly after we sat down and offered me a cup of coffee. I told him I was looking for a small Kelly or Birkin in Croc. He asked what about Ostrich but I told him I was only keen on Croc.

He took off and my coffee came! Other customers who I saw in the queue were sitting around me at the first level waiting for their SAs to return. After 10 minutes, I heard their SAs mentioning there weren't any bags (i am assuming they asked for leather b/k). One of the customers was very disappointed and said she has been coming for days. I felt bad for her as I almost froze to death (literally!!!) just by queueing once at FSH, i can't possible imagine queueing numerous times.

After close to 35minutes, my SA finally returned with nothing in hand and I was pretty bummed, ready to leave and have lunch. HOWEVER.........
He told me to come with him into a room so he could show me something and my heart started going crazy again. He started unwrapping the box and I was screaming like a child and told him he needs to go faster!!! He just burst out laughing. It was a blue marine croc kelly with ghw!!! He asked if I wanted it and I was like R U KIDDING ME. I was in a fabulous mood so I shopped a bit more around the store.

Ps. I was wearing a basic trench coat with a plain top and black jeans. I don't think appearances play a big part in the whole process heh. Just my two cents! Happy new year everyone.

Congratulations on your purchase! It's interesting that my sister was actually looking for a non-exotic Kelly, but they offered her a crocodile Constance in Paris, then two other crocodile Kelly (different colors) in her own country. She turned down all of them, because she's scared of exotic skins. I told her that lots of people would die to have an exotic Hermes, but we are the very minorities -- yes, I am scared of exotic skins too. So sad, otherwise, she would have gotten both Constance and Kelly. :(

yes this is swift. i'm not very knowledgeable of this leather but hear its delicate. Although i would have prefered togo but just happy i got offered this.
Swift is not as delicate as a lot of people would think just because it has a smooth surface. When you have a light scratch, just rub it off with your fingers. There are enough oil in the leather that the light scratches would disappear. I like Swift due to its light weight and it added a level of sophistication due to the smoothness over the grainy Togo or Clemence.

I've just tried Serves, not an appointment system but still need to meet the 'host' and wait for SA to be assigned. Before they assign any SA, they will ask you what you want. In my case, they immediately tell me no B/K so indirectly they asked me don't waste time here... well, maybe that's a better way to manage expectations? Lol...
