I agree that you buying all your mom's purchases for almost a month might have put a red flag up. Why didn't she want her name on the purchases? I've
Had the misfortune of being behind what I think was a reseller. Lots of multiples. It does get frustrating. I don't like when people take every last one of a item, and make it hard for people who make personal small purchases.

Its not that she doesn't want to put her name on the purchases, I thought I just pay for it for her. I like to pay for my mom bc I think she deserves the 'pampering' plus my line of thoughts was that if I make enough purchases -- Coach would start sending me coupons like many of the tpfers gets in the mail. I guess I was stupid, if I had known it would have the opposite effect, I would just had my mom purchase it.
The other reason was also because I get money back from my credit card so I figure more discount!

oh by all means we didn't even make a dent in the stock -- we didn't clear out anything, there were always tons left behind -- we only did random 1-2 per item, different color of the same style etc.

^^Absolutely! I do think they need to tighten their return policy. I could never return a bag that's even 6 months old personally, but Coach needs to revise the policy before complaining about it. Abusive returns, though, then I can see how that could flag someone. I was told at one of my boutiques a person returns weekly, so it's pretty much like she's renting the bag rather than buying one, kwim? One of these days they will learn like Costco did. Even L&T went to a 90 day policy because of all the abuse. But at least they made everyone aware and warned in advance...not handing out a letter suddenly banning for life. IMO, though, excessive should be obvious. If you can't settle on a bag, then maybe the brand is not for you. That I do get.

I'm so sorry this happened! After reading through this entire thread, I think the letter resulted because of the purchases of multiples and the volume of products bought not just by you, but by your mom and for other family members. Regardless, it's absolutely not acceptable. I think about what would happen if say I brought my mom to the outlet with me to do some Christmas shopping. She would do the same thing! We would be buying wallets and wristlets galore because who knows how many family members we have. And believe me, the women of my family love Coach and many other brands.

Seriously, I don't get why they don't warn you about the letter before hand. It's obvious who the resellers are. No offense to Asians (I'm Filipino myself), but if you see an Asian man purchasing 20 signature purses with a wad of cash, that's a freakin' reseller. Not some girl buying gifts for family members or her Bridesmaids or whomever.

This is super frustrating. I love the Coach product itself, but their policies are toilet crap. That's why I'm kinda glad I don't see as much at the outlets as I used to. I've really been limiting my Coach purchases. Again, I'm so sorry this happened. I really hope you call them up and give them a piece of your mind because they are targeting the wrong people.

OP, I am sorry for you have to face such a letter. Call the customer service on Monday, and tell them about how disappointed and humiliated you are with the letter. I keep all my receipts and my purchase, except a few that I bought as gifts for my mom, sister and SIL.

My mom is coming next month, I need to keep in mind to be moderate. I think I will just give her cash to buy the things she wants.

I can't believe that, I really hope you call CS on Monday and get everything sorted out.

Maybe if they put this sort of effort on getting rid of FOACH bags, they would be better off.

I guess you can buy as much is you like if the SA allows you too. But it comes down to the exchange/return policy, maybe they should set a limit and still allow you to purchase just cut down on the returning. I can understand returning something due to quality or you purchase two of something and you return one because you wanted opinions or compare it to your wardrobe, but holding on to purses for months and sometimes years and then returning is ridiculous and we read about it often here on tpf. You can always use cash-cash is King! Good luck to you.

I hold on to the bags-- yes, guilty of that.
but I have NEVER returned 'old' bags -- old not as in used, old as purchased and never took back to store --if you check my purse closet-- its all on the side of the wall that has all unused bags.

If I don't return it within the 1st 2 wks, you can be sure my lazy butt won't be taking it back.

If its an exchange, I do it like right away while the stock is still on the floor -- and my exchanges usaully are the small wristlets b/c sometimes it just don't match the purses/wallets that I thought it would. Thats like a less than $20 items, should that have that much of an impact?

It looks the returning part wasn't the issue. What Exactly did the letter say? Can you put it on here? Thanks. Do you ever purchase at boutique?

I am really sorry this whole thing happened to you. I wouldn't want to buy Coach anymore either... you deserve a free bag of your choice IMO! I think we are dealing with a company that has a lot of problems with customer service and mostly consistency. For example I wanted a price adjustment today and one SA tells me I need to bring in the bag unused for it.... and when I go to pay another SA says just the receipt is okay. I mean I know they are an outlet store but the outlets are so widespread that they need to get their standards of procedure down!

They are trying to maximize their profits by having outlets but do not know how to deal with everything that comes with having outlet stores...the craziness of it! As for trying to stop the resellers there is pretty much no point in attempting that because what happened to you is evidence that they are just going to alienate loyal customers. Even if they stop 90% of resellers (which they won't) it is not worth it if they alienate one loyal customer who isn't a reseller! This forum is proof that there are people that are really devoted to the brand who are going to spend a lot. How can they be sure they aren't targeting a loyal customer who just loves handbags? They need to change the return policy if they are going to respond with a letter if people use the return policy. I have had SA's encourage me to buy and say "you can return later". This whole thing pisses me off too... again I am sorry you went through that and the way they gave you the letter was so unprofessional. I hope they offer you some kind of compensation.

yes, I purchase from the boutique, not as much since i know it'll make it to the outlet for a much cheaper price. That's why I tend to wait on my purchases. But from time to time, I do get it at the boutique esp when they tell me there are hardly any left in inventory -- then I know there is no way in hell I could get it at the outlet.

The 1st sentence on the letter says it all, it says we notice multiple purchases of the same items and to us that indicates you are a reseller..and we appreciate your ENTREPRENEURSHIP but coach has its bS high standards and blah blah blah. and how coach try to control its standard...and end with so don't shop with us again.

I am thinking of sending a letter of my own to everyone I have ever gifted that if they are still in possession of coach items that have not been used, please send it back to me as there is a manufacturing defect & I need to return them to Coach -- its such a bad quality that none of you should be using it. And state I'll reimburse all with cash for the return of such products.

I'm going ask my mom to pull back all the items she took with her-- and I'll be sending her a travelers check and she can use the money to buy other gifts instead.

The more I read that letter the more pissed off I get

Of course I buy multiples of small items, they're great stocking stuffers, great gifts period for any occassion but its not like I'm in there every freakin day buying your stuff nor is it in the case of every month!
