This is sooooo dumb! If coach had such a tiff with resellers why don't they ban their product from eBay, but to ban paying customers without 100% proof of their actions is ridiculous! BOOOO on you coach!

Sorry you got classed in with the true resellers. You have just been financially fortunate to be a generous gift giver. I haven't the fortune of being related to anyone that gives such generous gifts. I hope costomer service will retract the letter.

Hey girls.. I did some googling and I found this letter from 2009 I'm sure it's the same one the OP received.
http://www.justanswer.com/questions...roduct-s-at-a-retail-location-pay-full-retail

yea that's the letter they tweeked it a little but not much.

and I'm not like that person whose buying out an entire state and then some, for resell overseas.

I'm NOT even buying out 1 store, not even a shelf!

I do do it for Chanel sales though :) but I can't resist on those, they come so infrequent. but I have no need for Coach since the outlet provides different things each time.

Gosh, wonder if CHANEL will send me a letter :-P for being a compulsive shopper.

So...it's buying multiples of the same items that triggers the letter?

Okay.

Well, then that falls completely on the shoulders of the SA's working the cash wrap. If it goes against Coaches policy, then the SA's should speak the he** up! How are you, a customer, supposed to know what is and what isn't allowed if you're not told?! The inconsistency of this situation (and all of those like it) drive me nuts...it's a policy so it should all or nothing, and it should be made very clear...outside of that, everything else is complete and utter BS.

I mean, honestly, how could you possibly anticipate this? If Coach is taking your money and keeping their mouth shut during the process of the transaction...they should not, under any circumstance, be allowed to go back later and punish you. If it goes against company policy, then it needs to be addressed at the time or not at all. And if it's not going to be addressed, then they need to make that stance null and void.

For such a successful company, it astounds me how completely inept they are. This is Business 101...we're not talking rocket science here.

OP, I'm so sorry that happened to you, that just sucks! TBH, I've refrained from buying gifts for family because of the "letter," and I try not to buy multiples (though I like to have backup bags, crazy I know but that's just me), so if Coach didn't have the stupid letter they'd get a lot more sales from me. I hope you can get somewhere with CS.

I mean they weren't even full size wallets -- if we really appeared like resellers due to the volume, wouldn't they think we'd be smart enough and target all the purses and the full size wallets on clearance? bc those are the true money makers like all the other asian resellers that were there buying. Everything fitted in our hands, we didn't even need to use the big brown bag resellers uses!
ugh! this so irritates me.

I gotta say, I am somewhat offended by this  You are making it sound as if ALL the resellers out there are Asian. You could've simply referred to them as just "resellers"....did the fact that they happen to be Asian, really matter?

I also didn't realize that using those big brown shopping bags automatically labels someone as a reseller. I often ask for those brown bags whenever I'm buying several items that cause me to have my hands full. I am by no means a reseller, and I don't think I've ever bought multiples of anything (unless it's the same bag - different colour/material kind of deal). My outlet is about 1.5 hours away, so when I do make the drive up there, I like to "stock up" and make my trip more worthwhile, as opposed to driving that far just to purchase one item. So in conclusion, I'm Asian and I sometimes use those big brown shopping bags. I would hate for other people to judge me and label me as a reseller

I don't do much returns at all! I hate doing returns unless I really see no use for an item --

my sales people for other brands -- even ask me to return items I don't use b/c they know I'm holding on to it b/c I feel bad for returning things. They even tell me not to worry about their comission and to just take it back to them -- that gives u an idea how little I return...on anything!

This sounds a little strange to me. I've always heard that Coach SA's don't work on commission? So why would they tell you something like that?

Oh the gifts for extended family are def. not generous, I'm talking about those toss out 9.99 key chains and those wristlets for $15 dollars...and like little bags for like $50 bucks....
If for extended family elders, I buy those discounted handbags under $100..
so you see what I mean Coach outlet having 'economical' gifts --
where else can you find that?

I only go beyond the $100 marks for grandmas, moms and sisters --
don't get me wrong, I'm not that generous!

I got other things to buy for myself then spend it on everyone else!:D

PIss on 'em. I've gotten bored with Coach recently and am moving on to other designers. This just solidifies my decision. I am going to return my NWT items & um, get rid of gently used items and move the hell on. So sorry for you, OP, but don't let em get you down!

No I said sales people from other brands -- I didn't say Coach --
I meant like my 'premium' designer brands

to make the point even at higher price items, I don't even do returns that often

and if you read the posting before it, I call it asian reseller is because when I was there, there were the asian resellers there who did that & someone made the comment how the asian market has Coach as such "hot' item-- I'm not categorizing anyone, I'm just agreeing and stating that I did see that. sorry

but you should be careful! bc if you do that -- you sound like me an occasionall spurge shopper - you might end up getting a letter to...so be careful

I just want to clarify -- for those who thinks I'm buying 'tons' of multiples -- I know I'm kinda making myself sound that way -- but I don't
to put things in perspective I walk out from the outlet usually with 1 shopping bag -- except for holidays do I get the 2 bags treatment ---
and the time with my mom, our purchases only came out to 2 bags -- and it was never filled to the top, and losely packed. so that's how small the items we got and how 'much' of the multiples--- I might give the wrong impression too. bc I know some of the tones coming from you ladies are like 'yea right, your not a reseller'
notthat I need to proof anything to you guys-- but I just wanted to vent and warn ppl.
and I don't need to be attacked twice in 1 day.

I've never had to fill out any paperwork either, it's strange.

They always do it when you take it back --- its just a small slip. its not even offical looking just a tiny little slip

maybe its store dependent? not sure, but I remember doing it even in my teen years -- back when they had it right on the bottom of the receipt.

No one is attacking you. No one is accusing you. We're angry right along with you and we understand your frustration. But we do try to keep generalizations to a nil.
