Nordstrom Returns Delayed Recently?

I mailed a return about 1 week ago so I am not expecting a refund anytime soon. It is not a high value item so I am not too worried.

This will probably be an unpopular opinion but I will state it anyway. Nordstrom is staffing customer service and their warehouses with a much reduced staff. This is for financial as well as safety reasons. At least I have not read about widespread cases of COVID-19 in any Nordstrom facilities.

Someone else stated that if a mail return would not be feasible for you right now it would be best to hold off on purchasing for the time being.

I am willing to be inconvenienced and experience a drop in customer service during these unusual times. The reason being I want Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack to remain open. They are already experiencing financial losses and many employees have been laid off/furloughed. If they close completely the financial loss would probably be more than they would be able to recover from. They have already extended returns I believe for 45 days after their stores open for the Rack. I would guess that Nordstrom’s policy will not be any different than their usual policy which is very generous.

I stated this when I started the thread but - I don't think any of us are arguing that Nordstrom should be putting their workers at risk to get us our returns faster. This thread is about getting information on how delayed returns will be, not complaining about it. Everyone is just sharing information.

Thanks for clarifying - several posters in this thread acknowledged that many warehouses are working with skeleton crews in order to social distance, so we're aware of the reason behind the delays, we're just comparing return processing times.

Dropped off my return on 4/11.
It was picked up by Newgistics on 4/16.
It was supposed to be delivered by Newgistics to Nordstrom on 4/20, but it has been stuck "In Transit" since 4/19. It's currently 4/25, so I'm not very hopeful.
At the very least, I paid using a gift card, so my refund, whenever they get the item should be quicker than if I used a credit card.

Just got the notification today (4/28) that Nordstrom received my return. So, all in all, 17 days total. Not terrible, considering the promise of 14 days in normal times!

Still have to wait 72 hours to get my refund, but so excited to use my gift card to go shopping again

Hi Nordstrom sent shoes to me from a store. They were the wrong version. Problem is no receipt nor shipping label and appeared to be a floor model. Like a person went up to the floor grabbed shoes threw in a box. These are $950 shoes. I understand that there are issues with the virus, however they should stop selling if they can’t handle customer service. 3 nights in a row, I waited on line for 3 hours (total 9 hours) for customer service to pick up. I have written emails with no response. There are no stores to return item to. Customer service is non existent. 10 more days to return. Do not sell if you cannot handle or do not man customer service!
Just go into your account and start the return from there.
You will get a PDF with a return label or you can print it directly from the website.
I received two bags from my local store by courier and I can see them on my account, I could very easily initiate a return.

My printer broke. They should provide a receipt and shipping label or not ship out.

Does anyone have any advice on returning to Rack? I have 3 items totaling about $400 to return to Rack. The shipping label for a rack return costs $6 (? I think)- so it isn't free. But at this point, I wonder if I'm better off waiting? By the time I buy the label and ship it back, some of the stores might be opening- at least according to the WSJ - retailers are limping back opening brick and mortar. I am in San Francisco.

I celebrated too soon. It's been 72 hours and no gift card in sight. Who knows how long this refund will take to arrive. ‍♀️
