Hello can anyone help I purchased a an older speedy bandouliere unfortunate with my stupidity I didn’t read the description for the bag the outside vachetta doesn’t have the Louis Vuitton made in stamp it’s states that the outside vachetta was replaced not by Louis Vuitton and the rivets on the sides are not Louis Vuitton rivets but when I checked the date code it comes up invalid date code vi 872.. this means the bag is not authentic correct?

Id get authenticated with ProAuthenticators. You can look them up on facebook, its $10. You just send photos and they response in minutes

I had been stalking the giant monogram reverse Onthego MM for a few months now which have been sold out online this entire time but I asked my SA to be the look-out in case her store received one. Then, I noticed that either in April or May (2021) the price for this bag online increased from $2,6XX.00 (I think it was $2,630.00 specifically) to $2,770.00.

My SA contacted me a couple days ago to let me know they just got a couple of them in, and she would hold one for me. I went into the store (she works at the Louis Vuitton inside Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas, NV) and I purchased it without taking a closer look at it.

When I brought it home, I inspected it and noticed there is no “Made in XX” label or date code tag sewn in or printed anywhere in the bag. I googled it to see if maybe the date code was just hidden really well and I was simply overlooking it, and was linked this PF thread talking about the date codes being replaced with chips!

So, I texted my SA (who was recently promoted to a manager position by the way) this morning to ask about it and she confirmed that yes, all date codes have been replaced with chips inside the bag that only Louis Vuitton locations can scan and read. I asked her when this change went into effect, and her response was 2019!!! She said she believes that all bags manufactured from 2019 to present should have chips instead of date codes inside of them.

Can anyone dispute this? Does anyone have a bag made in 2020 or even 2021?

I’m concerned about resellers who “authenticate” LV products and their claims that “all LV bags manufactured after 1982 have date codes”, because if my SA is correct then this is no longer true....

There must have been a transition period as I have owned a Speedy b25 that was deemed defective lately that was manufactured in very late 2019 and it had both a physical date code inside (stamped) AND a chip that could be scanned. My SA showed me the data on the company phone when I returned the bag.

As far as I know they have now started to only use the chip which makes sense given that the physical date code is probably a lot of work to stamp/sew into the bags and it doesn‘t help them with any information that they couldn‘t gain from the chip anyways. I am absolutely fine with this and don‘t mind at all that the bags won‘t have the codes anymore - but then again I only buy from LV directly and am not concerned with the whole second hand and fakes problem.

I have a watercolor bumbag from this year and it has the date code tag. I have not scan it to see if it has the chip as well. As far as I understand there is a transition period during which bags made contain both.

Just adding to our 'database' here that I just received my Coussin PM (yet another black bag but I love it!!) and do not see the date code anywhere. Meanwhile, I did purchase the Pochette Métis Monogram Reverse in March 2020 (right before everything shut down b/c of the pandemic) and the date code tag is in there.

Adding to the thread because I just had to do an exchange of my Pouchette Metis Noir (glazing...). I didn't bother to look for the tag in the old one, but was searching for it in the replacement and couldn't find it. Thought I was just being an old lady by not seeing it. LOL Must be chipped!

My bag has the microchip. Walking out of a store yesterday it set off the security alarm. Luckily the security officer was understanding when I told him the purse had a microchip. Has anyone else had this experience? I am not going to be happy if every time I go shopping, I have to explain this as I’m being chased down by security!

Interesting, I had bought a new bag with chip, haven’t worn out yet, if it does set alarm off, that would be so annoying !

Oh, I‘m glad I found this thread, because I had posted a question regarding this issue in the Neverfull Club without a reply so far!
So my new Empreinte Neverfull, that came on Tuesday, doesn‘t seem to have a date code , neither on the bag nor inside the pochette. I first thought that maybe I just couldn‘t find it, because I had seen pictures online of that exact bag with date codes. And it‘s a new model, it was only launched two weeks ago, so why wouldn‘t they bring it out without date codes right from the beginning? But seemingly they did! One picture of a date code that I saw online showed that the bag had been produced in week 7, which would be mid February. So I assume that they changed to hidden RFID (?) tags with the beginning of March.
How is your empreinte neverfull holding up? I just bought the turtle dove color and am scared to keep it due to the discoloration I read about

The ID chip is very tiny and not designed to set off anti-theft alarms. They are not compatible.
Didn't they left a larger card/sticker/etc, that has an actual and quite large anti-theft chip in a pocket or something?

That was my hope, that they had left an anti-theft tag on my purchase. As I was talking to the security officer, we verified no tags were left on and I passed my purse through the sensors just to make sure that was what set it off. This happened at Academy Sports. I had to go back to the store again to exchange the size, and the security went off again! Also went to Ulta and Target but had no issues. Someone said stores have different levels of sensitivity they can set their sensors at. If I go back to Academy, I guess I will just leave my bag in the car.

This is interesting. The Date Code chip should not be able to do this. Did you also try with a completely empty bag?
