Kind of understandable. The date code was an internal industrial marking, just like this new chip. It is for them, not for us. There is this very small and very vocal minority of people (us), who know about the codes, but most Vuitton customers never knew about them and didn't care.

I just received my Speedy B 30 in Mono from an online order. Luckily, I came across a news article beforehand mentioning LV will be getting rid of physical date codes in favor of RFID tags/microchipping, so I wasn’t surprised. I’m curious as to how this will impact the resale market too. Needless to say, I will hold on to my LV online order receipt.
I truly appreciate everyone's contribution! I was becoming upset that I could not find the date code on my brand new Felicie so I searched the web for answers before going back to the boutique to return it. Thank goodness I found this thread! I will surely miss the date codes because it has sentimental value. The speedy 30 I purchased last October was made the week before the pandemic shut down New York so it will always be special to me.

The Fashionphile founder/president gave an interview with Marie Claire and talked quite a lot throughout the interview about how the LV and Chanel RFID and microchips and blockchains will and/or will not impact the business of preloved. If you're interested you can listen/watch through Marie Claire. I posted this in the Chanel forum too, since they just started with a new chip also.
new bags don't have date codes anymore. they have identification chip now.
Had a brand new speedy b mono 25 from the other day with no date code either, just the LV made in France stamping on the side leather
OK thanks for that I didn't know...has anyone experienced red stitching showing through on seams if slightly pulled apart of de speedy 25...I didn't know if it was going to mean the canvas would tear in the future ?
Yes, I have had the same thing on my Speedy DE. I could see the red stitching very clearly even without slightly pulling apart. I abused the bag for 5 years and as far as I remember, it stayed the same as day 1. No loosen part, tear on canvas or anything else even though the brown piping has badly rubbed off. But I was sure it was strong from the beginning. Use your own judgment. Return if you have a feeling it will become a problem in a future.
Yes it’s a chip inside now- I called as soon as mine came! So weird. You have to take it in to find out where/when you’re bag was produced.
I’m going to miss my date codes. I’m sentimental and I liked that little bit of uniqueness in my items.
