I have no patience for folding these triangles in squares. I need to channel Marie Kondo. She would surely approve of your square folding. Your image of wearing your silk jersey tied around your head when driving your convertible sounds so chic! Tell me you wear big sunglasses too. Perfection!
I find folding it into a square sooo much easier than the blasted triangle! Although, I'm not gonna lie...during the summer, it chills on my closet island unfolded quite a lot bc I'm lazy. [emoji15]
And yes, one MUST wear large sunglasses while wearing a head scarf, zipping around town with the top down! It feels positively glamorous! [emoji41]
Ps-I'm madly in love with pretty much all of your twillies! I need to step up my game. I only have 5 and I'm jealous! [emoji30]
Love this!!And on the subject of twillies, mors and fandarole...Maybe you could try this combination?
What a beautiful collection of twillies and your ideas for tying one on are so fun. Will see if my new one works out. I am twins with the MP on. That and the en Desorde below are the two I actually do wear now and then when I don't feel like a scarf or shawl. They have the right scale and balance of graphics and pattern for me. Thanks for sharing these great ideas!
Here you go dear - CMSC jersey - the 90's really stretch out great for tops. It is my only jersey so far, along with the Taro. I released a navy blue Mors many moons ago.
Re: twillys : i love them but like my H bags naked. I just love to see the clean lines of my bags, though I see that you do a great job dressing yours up, especially with charms! So I fell for a Les Leopards this afternoon and not sure how I will use it- but the colors just were too fun to pass up! Will post a photo on the SS thread tomorrow.
MYH, love your dissertation on the twilly. You have some real beauties in your collection. I think I'm up to 14 now too and I will admit that I rarely wear them on my bags. I'm just getting used to them. But they are so darned cute. Can you explain the farandole twilly technique ?
Thanks! My sis was feeling uninspired with her bag which was passed down from her BF's mom. I said, let's jazz it up with a twilly and I wound it through and she was so pleased with it. But then I had to give her a twilly from my collection.![]()
OMG thank you so much. I never ever thought it was possible. The few I've seen look very obviously re-done. I will send you the bill for all the plisses I'm about to buy....Sigh! So beautiful on you!
BJS- I rinsed my plisse in water. Then stretched it out on the tile floor. I put a bottle of detergent near each corner. I smoothed out portions that looked like they needed it with my fingers. Then I left it to dry overnight. You might have to repeat a second time. That pretty much took the pleats out. I did run the iron over it quickly. You can perhaps see the faintest shadow of a pleat here or there but if I did not tell you I doubt that you would know and it doesn't detract from the design. I like plisses. For this one I wanted it open to see its full glory.
This is a great scarf that has always intrigued me. NICE choice!!!i got the Ex-Libris à Carreaux!
Can we please go somewhere and chat about silver hair and which colors look best?I had Ex- Libris en Kimonos 90cm in my collection, but sold it!! I know, I know..how could I? I had the black/sepia/lagoon colorway. I don't remember the exact names. It didn't work with my blondish hair. But, here is the hard lesson learned... I let my hair grow out to its natural color over this past year. It is now a platinum, bright silver, and it would have gone perfectly with the scarf! So,consider long and hard before selling a grail scarf![]()
These look so fun!!! DO NOT start me on another obsession, do you hear me??? PbP has just made me add plisses. I can't add another format, no no no no. I must avert my eyes...OK, I was going to post about some other scarves today but since Blushingnude brought up the large jersey pointus, I decided to go where the wind blows.
I will be the first to admit, I don't wear mine often. I have exactly 2. One is the en desordre in the knotting cards Blushingnude posted and the other is a purple/turquoise bolduc. I really like both of them but I tend to not reach for them. But I think I need to rectify that situation. Thanks BN for reminding me I had them in my scarf collection.
I bought them because they are incredibly soft to the touch. I could not resist taking them home. I was kind of a scarf newbie back then and had no idea how I was going to knot or tie them. I just couldn't leave them at the boutique. They were so soft. I think I bought them in the spring of 2013 but since then, I don't see as many around. I think only Flamingo Party was issued in this format recently. The border has a very sturdy knitted detail in a contrast color. And they come in a really cool triangle H box.
At first I thought they were indestructible. But after I wore my en desordre carelessly on a plane and got a big ole snag in it, I realized I had to be a bit more careful than I was being. It's not to say they are fragile. They're not. They're actually really sturdy. You just gotta still be kind of careful. After all, they are silk.
OK, you will not see me modeling my silk jersey pointu as a top. I'm going to put that right out there. First, I think you need to be a size 0 or 2. Second, you need to be small chested. Third, you need to be comfortable not wearing a bra. I fit exactly zero of these three criteria so you will have to oogle the beautiful model on the scarf knotting card if you want to see it worn as a top.
Would I buy more? I don't know. Because the two I have are different than all the other scarves in my drawer, I tend to feel they will require extra work tying and I'm usually in a rush to get out the door. But you know, now that I've flung on my bolduc one to snap some photos for you folks, I can see that it's really quite easy. Hmmm...maybe I should rethink them. Oh and also, folding them up is kind of a pain. They don't fold well into squares so you gotta do the triangle. And that totally messes up the feng shui in my scarf drawer. So the two I have are just kind of flung into a scarf "junk" drawer. Do you guys have this as well? A scarf junk drawer. In mine, I have my cashmere brush, jersey pointus, gavroches, non-H scarves, DH's pocket squares, and random scarves that need washing. I know, I know....this is no way to treat my scarves.
So if some of you have these cool jersey pointus, please pull them out and show us how you tie them! I want to know too.
Here are pics of my En Desordre and Bolduc. And I finally downloaded an app to blur my face so you can see I wore it to the Reagan Library standing in front of his plane.

Gorgeous on you moma! I will want to read about best silks for silver hair too. Been wanting a streak like Jahna's lol.And I also recently acquired a CSGM, which I have worn about every other day this winter, honestly. I love love love this shawl. In the first picture it almost looks like MyH and Pirula's 90 silk CW, which I adore!!!
