Scarves MYH's Scarf Showcase - and philosophical ramblings about how I built my collection

Thank you dear MYH! I often wear the FP simply draped over my shoulders with the triangle point down my back. Then I pop on a long sweater, trench coat or leather jacket and allow the lovely tendrils of silk peek out of the sides. No tying necessary!!

I also like to roll it, rather than doing a bias fold technique, which gives it a nice effect. I also wear it on my head, a la Marilyn Monroe, when driving my convertible with the top down!

One last bit, if you play with it you can definitely fold it into a square. I do this all the time when I put it in my MaiTai scarf "book" while traveling. I agree they are a pain to fold into a triangle but a dream to wear! Lol!

You look so great in yours! I really like how you've tied them! Please do reconsider putting them into rotation this summer!! I'm with you on not being able to wear either of mine (square or triangle) as a top. My boobies are just to big and I'm nowhere near a size 2 at the moment. [emoji24]

I'll try and put together some pics for you, but I just spent the morning spring cleaning and I'm wiped!

I love the jersey but only have the 90 format! Your two are fabulous! Love the en desorde bold graphic. It us a lot easier wearing a tee shirt under the top. I don't like being chilled but they are perfect for hot climates. Thank you for your sweet words but the only Elk twill that I nearly bought was the taupe, Aqua and pink one. The pattern was too tiny on my person, like many of the AF designs can be. I'm like froufrou on this, graphic scale suits my wardrobe a lot better! My jerseys are The Taro and CMSC. And I am a size 10, not 2 but somehow the 90 format ties perfect.

OK, I was going to post about some other scarves today but since Blushingnude brought up the large jersey pointus, I decided to go where the wind blows.

I will be the first to admit, I don't wear mine often. I have exactly 2. One is the en desordre in the knotting cards Blushingnude posted and the other is a purple/turquoise bolduc. I really like both of them but I tend to not reach for them. But I think I need to rectify that situation. Thanks BN for reminding me I had them in my scarf collection.

I bought them because they are incredibly soft to the touch. I could not resist taking them home. I was kind of a scarf newbie back then and had no idea how I was going to knot or tie them. I just couldn't leave them at the boutique. They were so soft. I think I bought them in the spring of 2013 but since then, I don't see as many around. I think only Flamingo Party was issued in this format recently. The border has a very sturdy knitted detail in a contrast color. And they come in a really cool triangle H box.

At first I thought they were indestructible. But after I wore my en desordre carelessly on a plane and got a big ole snag in it, I realized I had to be a bit more careful than I was being. It's not to say they are fragile. They're not. They're actually really sturdy. You just gotta still be kind of careful. After all, they are silk.

OK, you will not see me modeling my silk jersey pointu as a top. I'm going to put that right out there. First, I think you need to be a size 0 or 2. Second, you need to be small chested. Third, you need to be comfortable not wearing a bra. I fit exactly zero of these three criteria so you will have to oogle the beautiful model on the scarf knotting card if you want to see it worn as a top.

Would I buy more? I don't know. Because the two I have are different than all the other scarves in my drawer, I tend to feel they will require extra work tying and I'm usually in a rush to get out the door. But you know, now that I've flung on my bolduc one to snap some photos for you folks, I can see that it's really quite easy. Hmmm...maybe I should rethink them. Oh and also, folding them up is kind of a pain. They don't fold well into squares so you gotta do the triangle. And that totally messes up the feng shui in my scarf drawer. So the two I have are just kind of flung into a scarf "junk" drawer. Do you guys have this as well? A scarf junk drawer. In mine, I have my cashmere brush, jersey pointus, gavroches, non-H scarves, DH's pocket squares, and random scarves that need washing. I know, I know....this is no way to treat my scarves.

So if some of you have these cool jersey pointus, please pull them out and show us how you tie them! I want to know too.

Here are pics of my En Desordre and Bolduc. And I finally downloaded an app to blur my face so you can see I wore it to the Reagan Library standing in front of his plane.

These are both really beautiful! I wasn't familiar with inter jersey scarves. They look great on you.

I have the Flamingo Party jersey and it's basically a 140 cut in half on the diagonal. I didn't like it at first, but after a few tries (and with the help of my SA) I LOVE it!! At first I thought it was very limiting, but really you can wear it just like any other square scarves (some of the fancy knots excluded).

The soft drape is so beautiful to wear and it's great in the summer for its breathability. Now that I have the triangle, I don't wear my squares as often [emoji4]

MyH is right, the model is tiny. You can totally wear either square or triangle as a top, if you are petite, bc the fabric has a nice stretch.

Oh wow, I didn't realize it was that big!! Interesting...

MYH- I was rolling in bed this morning when I saw your post and seeing that you brought this design up makes me :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:. Love your story on a renewal love but it is sad for me because at the height of my H scarf craze, I had three CWs of this design. I was caught in the moment as the design was very popular that season. Unfortunately, I bought the orange CW of the silk version and two other CWs in the CSGM. First, the orange CW didn't work as the color was too sharp and too much orange tones in it. The CSGMs were okay but I must say that the crane eyes were giving me the goosebumps. I couldn't get rid of them no matter which way I try the bias fold so I finally let go of all of them. It was a rude awakening that I have a fear of animal patterns, especially big eyes showing on the clothing. So now I'm not buying the Tiger Tiger or other designs with big eyes staring at me. Am I pathetic or what ???

You make wearing these look incredibly easy!! And the colors on the bolduc - those are my colors...

All righty! Shall we keep the scarf partybus going? Ok at this point, I don't even remember which scarves I have covered and which ones I haven't. So if I repeat myself, I'm sorry!

Today I wanted to play with my black kellycut that I found in Paris at FSH so a natural match for this clutch is my Colliers de Chiens scarf.

I really do have mixed feelings about this scarf and waiver back and forth on it constantly. Here's why.

I originally bought this scarf because I wanted an "evening" scarf. I definitely categorize scarves based on design and cw into dressy evening, daytime casual, bright and fun, etc. and when I bought this scarf, I was lacking in the dressy evening category.

One of the reasons I bought this scarf was for the design. For some reason, I just cannot make the CDC bracelets work for me. I think I type too much throughout the day and the spikes just interfere with that. Also, although I love how this bracelet looks and think it is beautiful on others, it just doesn't seem to coordinate with my existing wardrobe. So instead of forcing it, I'm at peace with CDCs not loving me back. The plus side is my wallet thanks me for this reprieve. So when I heard H was going to make a scarf in this pattern, I was all over it! I could finally join in the CDC party in a way that works for me!

I think this literally was the first one to arrive in KOP in July of 2013. I didn't even wait to see the other cws (very unlike me) but I think I might have been at my peak of scarf obsession back then. Throwing caution to the wind! :lolots:

I loved how the yellow in it was like gold jewelry. I loved the touches of Colvert blue in it too. Resistance was futile so it came home with me. What I didn't realize was how much yellow was in the border. And tied in a cowboy knot, a lot of yellow shows. Grrr...so my solution was to tie a biased fold necklace with it most of the time to hide the border. And I do like it that way but it doesn't have as much versatility as I would like.

So this scarf went from a rating of "Love" to "Neutral" after I figured out the yellow in the border didn't love me back.:rolleyes::rolleyes: And to make matters worse, the only handbag I had to match it was my black lambskin Chanel flap which I no longer really used or liked after discovering Hermes bags. So I didn't have an evening bag to use with this scarf until now! :yahoo:

With a black kelly cut in my collection, I think this scarf is going to make a comeback! Now I have the right accessories and bags to coordinate with this scarf. And I have an en desordre twilly that perfectly matches all of it. It was my first time tying a twilly onto my kelly cut and I really like it! I hope you can see it because it blends in with the scarf background. I threw in my grand loop necklace and some VCA for fun into the photo.

It's really interesting how a scarf can go in and out of favor with me based solely on having the right handbag/clutch to coordinate with it. So that's an interesting lesson for me...I must make sure I have an existing handbag in my collection to go with a scarf before I buy it. And having the right accessories helps a bunch too!

Here's some photos of my CDC scarf.

This yellow border I'm constantly trying to hide
This has to be one of the most amazing combinations of scarves/bag/accessories I have seen! And by the way, I am so jealous of your new Pico!! I will only consider gold toned hardware on bags and jewelry, and I would love a Picotin, but the palladium hardware always holds me back...but yours....:cloud9:
Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful H adventures with us!

Hi MYH! I blame you!😁 I've been reading your thread so much that I finally convinced myself to buy a 90 😍😍😍

MYH, I also feel ambivalent about jersey but your blue bolduc is beautiful! I only own one jersey, a 90 cm Chevaux de Karnak in purple, bamboo, and teal. I love the design and the mousseline colors did not inspire me, so I went with this one. I figured, I ought to have one jersey, right?

WRONG!!! It is one of my least worn scarves as it just looks so flat and uninspiring on. I wish it had the crispness of a silk twill, which is also why I don't like the plume 140s. Another scarf format that I have one of and rarely wear.

Re: ELeK, I wish the H gods would listen to our pleas but as has been discussed in the Fall 2016 thread, so many patterns I like but can't find a suitable cw. I dread H re-releasing ELeK and not liking the colors. Oh the horror!!! :rain:

Well DH and I were supposed to go somewhere today but neither of us were feeling 100% when we woke up, so it has turned into a lazy day at home. I swear I haven't been drinking. I'm just in a kooky mood so get ready for a wacky post. If you just want to see pretty pictures, feel free to skip ahead to the end.

Today didn't start off great. Neither DH nor I felt well so we cancelled our fun plans. Then because I had some free time, I decided to take care of some household chores that have been on my list. :rtr: First I had to call our cable company to complain about our crappy service (seriously, we haven't had on demand or dvr working for 3 weeks now) and hassling our insurance agent about why our insurer doesn't want to renew our policy. It turns out there were a couple of big commercial claims recently with our agent and they got dropped! :blah: and we were in the cross-fire. Ugh! And they are only now working on getting us a new policy and the old one expires in 3 weeks. Seriously, being an adult sucks sometimes.

OK in times like these, that's when I retreat to my happy place. My silk, jewelry, and bag closet. :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: Just seeing the beautiful silks all lined up in my drawer puts me in a much better mood!!!

So I was reviewing the scarves I've already covered and duplicated (LOL!) and realized I have never showcased my 90cm Ex Libris en Kimonos. What's wrong with me? I love that scarf. But I think I know why....I'm afraid of using or wearing that scarf. It's so precious. I think it's the most I have ever paid for a scarf on evilbay. To buy that scarf, I had to write the seller a letter explaining why she should sell it to me. No kidding. Have you ever been the buyer in a seller's market for a house and you need to write a letter explaining why the seller should sell their house to you? Yeah, that was me. And the seller told me she had already gotten 10 other requests similar to mine. And I don't think she was lying. And of course I was trying to negotiate a little discount because the price was sky-high. So in the end, I must have made a pretty compelling argument because she contacted me a few days later and said I have been chosen to be the new owner! :yahoo: So now you see, I'm terrified of ruining this scarf. It's not easy to find another. So I baby it. I just let it rest in the drawer most of the time. You know you have these scarves too. I'm not the only one right? I think my blue Turandot falls into this category too.

OK, now a short rant directed all the all-powerful Hermes gods. Please, please reissue this design! Why do you keep rolling out Chasse en Inde? Everyone who wants that scarf already has it. Don't you want to create a scarf frenzy in your boutiques? If so, reissue Ex Libris En Kimonos. I'm sure we will even be in such an intoxicated state we will buy other scarves as well. Heck, I even might buy a Chasse en Inde as well if you would just reissue this design. And don't do a bunch of funky colors please. Stick to the jewel tones thank you. That way I can buy multiples, back-ups to my back-ups, you get the picture. You will make beaucoup bucks if you would just reissue this design. In all formats too. 90cm, 140cm giant silk, and 140cm cashmere. And oh...70cm too. Why not. And please don't discontinue that format. I think you need to hold a management meeting right away to discuss how it was a bad decision to cut that size out of the lineup. You can still reverse your decision. It's not too late. Thanks in advance! I'll be waiting to see eLenK next season ok?

All righty!! Now that we got that out of the way. What to say about eLenK? I love the Japanese-y woodblock navy waves in the corner. The red crane makes me smile everytime I unfurl the scarf. And the best part is the crane shows up beautifully when the scarf is tied on the bias. The only thing is with this colorway, you gotta stock up on navy clothes. I don't really love it against black. But lucky me! I just bought a navy silk shirt from Apostrophe (another boutique PbP taught me about in Paris) and I now have a navy bag too! My blue indigo Picotin. So I am set. I am a happy girl.

Now I know some of you have hoarded all or almost all of the cws. Would you be so kind as to post pics of them here on this thread so we can all drool and weep silently at our iPads? Pretty please? Think of all us poor souls that only have 1 cw. I have even heard there are a few amongst us that are still searching for their first eLenK. Feel sympathy for us and post your treasures. Thank you!

A few photos of this glorious scarf with some accessories and different knots. Ooh- and look at that crane eyeball I got to show in my George V knot. It takes skill to make hairy eyeballs appear! :lolots:

Darling - you are one of a lucky few. I know alot of people that would kill for this scarf and cw.

Yup, this is THE colorway over which I swoon. Same to you Pirula

Yo Hermès! What she said. [emoji106]

Twins twins twins!

Omg this is your funniest post ever. I hope Hermes corporate is listening. Yeah! What she said! Plus we want more designs in general in 140 silks!

You wear this so well that... Well, you made me want it. I was lucky. I found a plisse for a steal and de-plissed it. Yes, that does work by the way. I think when you are finished going through your scarf collection we should add up how much you cost me and how much I cost you and whoever cost whomever the most buys drinks next time we meet.

I didn't have a chance to respond about Colliers de Chiens. Twins on that one too, but purchased independently before I became your scarf groupie. I was on the fence about that one too but seeing your post made me appreciate it more. I'm giving it a second chance.

I have two color ways of ELeK. The other colorway was enabled by Tango Tosca and I paid through the nose for it. But I didn't have to write a letter. So I suppose I'm lucky. If I average the two out I think I paid only a bit over retail.

But come on, you have to wear that beauty more often. Don't let it languish in the drawer. It's too pretty.

you said it PocketBookPup ...that's what I am .. your MYH scarf groupie sista. She's the great enabler...for sure.

Add me to your scarf groupie list! I'm so enjoying your stories - this is such a wonderful thread! I have a business trip to Lyon in the fall and because of your wonderful descriptions of H in Paris, I've decided I need to extend my trip so I can check out petit H at Sevres!
