MYH, that gorgeous scarf was a serendipitous find!! LOVE it with your bee necklace, and I am going to give your George V knot a try!! What fun you and Pocketbook Pup must have had together! Can't wait to read the rest of your story, and thanks so much for taking the time and effort to share this with us!
Thank you Hclubfan! I'm glad you agree that it's a beautiful scarf and that it was a great find to go with my bee and pearl necklace. I would love to see you George V knot after you've tried it out.

PbP and I had the time of our lives. I have memories to last a lifetime. It was such a special week.

Thank you for sharing the George V Knot. I will have to try it out.

Jacquard scarves are so lovely. I have only one which was coincidentally my first H scarf (H Sellier) and keep eyeing the ones Jan has for sale. Adore the bees!

Looking forward to seeing your day 1 big purchase is.

I think I have time for one more post today. Then I really have to get to my chores. But I'll be back tomorrow with more to share and I'll definitely be reading all the comments too!

So let's rewind to Day 1. We both arrived in the late morning and were ready to start our new adventure together by early afternoon. PbP suggested we try our luck in the famous line at FSH. I've never been to FSH and was a complete newbie and was very grateful to have a veteran line stander to accompany me.

When we arrived, the line was about 30 people long. Look familiar? And that's just the front of the line.
ImageUploadedByPurseForum1460487427.350038.jpg

It snaked around the perimeter of the first floor. We joined the back of the line and started chatting. It was moving S--L---O---W--L--Y and I was so grateful to have a friend to chat with. I cannot imagine how people manage to stand in that line all by themselves. On the positive side, I figure a slow line was a good sign that most people were getting shown what they asked for. After about 1.5 hours (I'm not sure because I didn't look at my watch - it could've been 2 hrs) we reached the front and went up together. PbP told the SA what she was looking for and when the SA asked me, I shyly asked for a Kelly Cut in Epsom in black or another dark neutral color. She asked me if hardware mattered and I said GHW preferably but SHW is fine too. She then said they just received a shipment of Kelly Cuts and would I be ok with swift leather because she knew that she definitely had swift. I said I didn't know and she showed me a pink sakura wallet in swift and I asked if it scratched easily. She said not really, its just like a typical leather, so I said yes, swift would be fine too. Can you believe I was going to be picky at this point? What was I thinking? I blame it on the long flight over.

She went to go look for our bags and I turned to PbP and said, I think we are going to get lucky on our first day and first try. She came back and asked us to go upstairs with her and after showing PbP her bags (none were exactly what she wanted unfortunately), she opened a little box and there was a black kelly cut in GHW. :faint: TBH- I've never held a kelly cut before nor seen one in person. I've only seen photos online. So I asked to hold it and I looked in the mirror and you guys are going to think I'm nuts now...I wasn't sure. It was longer and squatter than I thought it would be and I think at this point, I was half-asleep from the flight. I asked PbP what she thought and she said "you gotta take it. You've been wanting it for a long time." So I took a leap of faith and thought, I must just be in a fog and will get used to the shape and will grow to love it. BTW -this also happened with my Gris T K32. I didn't really like it at first but now I love it. So I told the SA I would like to purchase it and that's the end of the story. We went to Bread and Roses afterwards for a small bite to eat and I was in shock. I couldn't believe I had been so lucky on Day 1. PbP thought I didn't get the full experience because I didn't get rejected a few times and then get the clutch on my last day. She said it's more exhilarating when it happens that way.

Here's a photo of the box and the kelly cut in our hotel room.

After playing with my clutch back at the hotel, I decided of course that I loved it. I used it almost every night while we were in Paris. It's perfect for dining out because you can place it in your lap and then put a dinner napkin over it. I love that it has a little handle. I can carry it using the handle or in a typical way you hold a clutch. It's thin enough so that it easily can be put under your arm as well and be comfortable. The black leather is so divine and the interior has a little pocket for a hotel key. I dare not put my phone in that little pocket though because I don't want the outline of my phone to indent the leather. I also like that the kelly cut can be dressed down to go with a casual outfit or dressed up to go with a more formal evening outfit.

So here she is, my beautiful kelly cut. I feel very lucky to have her and everytime I pull her out, I can't believe she is mine.

So now I have a little dilemma. I have a black fendi clutch and a black dior clutch with chain in my collection and I'm thinking of finding a new new home for one or both of them. I like to keep a very small collection of bags and 3 black clutches is way too much! I only have two arms. PbP and I talked it over and she voted for finding a new home for the Fendi clutch but keeping the Dior clutch because it has a chain. I think she's absolutely correct so now I have some work to do to find my Fendi clutch a new home.

I'm not going to show you all the outfits my black kelly cut coordinates with because I might be taking photos until next year. She basically goes with everything!

I hope you enjoyed the story and my first big purchase while in Paris!

Yay!!! I thought you were going to turn it down or that I was going to have to shake you to wake you to your senses. It was so very perfect. But I could see over the course of several days that you grew to love it. I think you were just tired.

You didn't get the full experience of the multiple rejections and hours in lines. It does add to the heart pounding exhilaration when you do get the bag of your dreams. But that's ok. I hope you still enjoyed the experience.

Since we are on the topic of bags: I did not ask for a Kelly or Birkin this trip. I have all of my neutrals and my signature color-Colvert- completed. I actually just wanted a nice casual bag and I couldn't decide between a picotin and an Evelyn so I left it to the Hermes gods. I would have been totally conflicted if they offered me a Kelly because I wanted to focus my budget elsewhere this trip. I was offered picotin in various shades of pink or the gm size and neither was for me. I was also offered and turned down- big sigh- a bleu saphir Kelly pochette. It was very very small. It made my Chanel medium flap seem spacious. And I would always wish it was a Kelly. So I was good and said no. I bought the gold Evelyn which I used for most of the rest of the trip. I love it and will probably always travel with it.

ImageUploadedByPurseForum1460488609.308549.jpg

The Hermes gods then sent me a bleu hydra picotin closer to home. So now I have two great casual bags. And once I complete my jewelry collection I'll be on the hunt for a bleu saphir Kelly with gold hardware. [emoji7]

The best news is that my SA at FSH was very kind as always and I had so much fun. Oh and I was so frugal! Both of my bags already match my scarf wardrobe so no scarf buying spree is necessary. [emoji23] The Hermes gods never let me down. [emoji4]

Thank you for sharing your bags too PbP! The eye candy on this thread just went through the roof with the addition of your gold Evie and Blue Hydra Picotin!:loveeyes::loveeyes:

I agree with PbP that the Fendi should be the one to find a new home. Congrats, and thank you for sharing a wonderful story!!

Bleu hydra is so pretty and of course your gold Evie is a classic! So glad you shared them with us too. Congrats!!

Now onto the knot. I think this knot maybe so simple many of you already use it. But for me, it's so simple I have never given it a second thought and have never worn it this way. I also find that if you play with it a bit, you can come up with many different variations just by adding a twist or two. It's also a knot that looks different each time you tie it so if you don't like how it has turned out at first, just take it off and redo it and the second attempt may come out great!

So PbP named this knot the George V and that's what I'm going to call it too. After we discovered it on our 2nd day in Paris, we both pretty much exclusively wore our 90cms this way for the rest of the trip!

So I have 3 variations of the same knot for you. The SA was wearing the first one I'm going to show and I'll call it Variation I. Basically, all you do is fold your 90cm into a bias fold and drape it around your neck with the tails hanging down the front. Then pick up the tails with opposite hands. So the tail that's hanging on the right, pick up with your left hand and the tail that's hanging to the left of your neck, pick up with your right hand. Bring the tails behind your neck and tie a knot. If you make it tighter around your neck, you'll achieve a kind of two-tiered turtleneck look. If you tie a small knot behind your neck and let the scarf be more drapey, you can kind of get a cowl neck look.

I apologize for the hazy photos. The morning light was just coming through the windows and I had to get this post done now because I'm off to play tennis soon.

View attachment 3327156
So I wore it this way for a couple of hours and I found that sometimes the loops would separate and one would kind of end up strangling me while the other hung down too low. I think this happens to scarves that are soft and not starchy. If your scarf is starchy, I think it will stay just fine. But since I didn't like the knot separating, I came up with Variation II.

Variation II is to start with the same bias fold but then cross the tails over each other just once, like you're beginning to tie a regular knot. But then, instead of completing the knot, just bring the two tails around the back of your neck. I tried to take some photos to show you what I am trying to describe. I hope it makes sense! I found that this method gives some interest to the knot and pattern. The first two photos are variation II and the other 3 are the instructions.

The third Variation is just Variation I but before you bring the ends around the back of your neck and tie a knot, give each tail a few twists and you will get a more interesting result as well. Here is what Variation III looks like on me.

So I hope this wasn't too simple but as I said before, I do believe that parisian women keep their scarf knots very simple paired with a streamlined outfit and look gorgeous!

My next post will be one of the big purchases I made on Day 1!
This is lovely. I've seen it IRL on my SA who chose it as her scarf of the season and it is quite tempting. The bees are everything!

Enjoying your tale and can't wait for the next chapter!

Well, this is just killer.

[emoji4]
Congrats on the haul! That gorgeous blue Pico is wonderful with your scarves. What fun you and MYH must have had! Confession: I'd much rather be in Paris with a like-minded BFF than with my SO. He has never tolerated the shopping missions very well. :nogood:

I think I have time for one more post today. Then I really have to get to my chores. But I'll be back tomorrow with more to share and I'll definitely be reading all the comments too!

So let's rewind to Day 1. We both arrived in the late morning and were ready to start our new adventure together by early afternoon. PbP suggested we try our luck in the famous line at FSH. I've never been to FSH and was a complete newbie and was very grateful to have a veteran line stander to accompany me.

When we arrived, the line was about 30 people long. Look familiar? And that's just the front of the line.

Did PBP also get the blue FP scarf?

PBP- I love the color of that blue hydra!!!( duh!)

Ok a few questions: what size is the Evelyn and the picotin?

And the second orangey scarf- what is the name? Is it rive gauche? And is it a 70 or 90?

All is beautiful! Glad you had a fun ( and safe) time!

OH MY WORD MYH...that is a stunner!!!!! I am sure you will always treasure this beautiful bag and get tons of use out of it! It is absolutely perfect, and I'm so happy you didn't have to stand in line over countless days in order to score this perfect little gem! Loved the photo of the lineup...oh the things we do for H! I don't know about you, but I would never even consider standing in line for another brand, not even for five minutes!

Yes, I bought the flamingo party too. I was the one who asked to see it and corrupted MyH to buy it too. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

The Evelyn is a pm. I thought I would need the gm as I like large bags but MyH helped me with that. The pm is perfect. I am 5'6". Here is a photo.

The picotin is an MM 22 cm. The orange scarf is rendez vous rive gauche and it is a 70 cm. as you know it's not in my normal colors but I loved the design. I think I'll end up tying it to my bag quite often.
