JRTgal - I don't think you are alone in feeling this way. Ideally, I could go to Paris twice. Once with my girlfriend and once with DH. I think DH would've stood in line with me but only after lots of drinks and food beforehand.

I'm very grateful I got to do a shopping trip to Paris with a girlfriend. It's something I think everybody should do once in their life. Guys do not have the patience to do the marathon shopping we want to do. :roflmfao:
ITA!! I've already done the GF thing and it was the best time. This fall, it will be with the SO and my brother....HELP ME!!! :panic:

Yes, I bought the flamingo party too. I was the one who asked to see it and corrupted MyH to buy it too. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

The Evelyn is a pm. I thought I would need the gm as I like large bags but MyH helped me with that. The pm is perfect. I am 5'6". Here is a photo.

The picotin is an MM 22 cm. The orange scarf is rendez vous rive gauche and it is a 70 cm. as you know it's not in my normal colors but I loved the design. I think I'll end up tying it to my bag quite often.
Thanks! I definitely think a bigger Evie would look too big on you.

I think I have to add that rive gauche scarf to my hunt list!( not sure what CW though...)
Yes, I may still succumb to one or both of those scarves you bought. Still trying to stay focused on mousseline stole for next purchase..

You look good in everything! I love this! We are the same height so tha k you for posting thsi very useful photo. (Which makes me want to buy more stuff, so my bank account is less happy). :)

Hi everyone! ok, I'm back. Before I get to the knot we saw on the SA at George V, I thought I would share my purchase from there.

Before I left for Paris, I didn't have any scarves in mind that I wanted to purchase. I really feel like I have enough scarves and I was really concentrating on two large purchases I wanted to make. But of course I have a little slush fund for impulse buys so I thought I would just leave it to fate to see what ended up coming home with me.

PbP and I walked into George V and it was quite busy. So we milled around the scarf counter by the front door and a greeter SA approached us and asked if we needed help. So we said yes and she called another female SA to come help us. I scanned the 90cm scarves in the glass display and didn't see any that were new to me. PbP and I are both interested in 140cm giant silks so we asked to see those. I tried on the orange colorful Fantasies Indiennes but I just wasn't feeling it. So I mentally struck that one off my list. It was too colorful and not really me. We asked to see twillies but I didn't see any that I wanted. So I thought I would "look harder" in the scarf case that held the 90cms and that's when I saw this scarf. Being a collector for several years, I kind of know when I see an unusual one in a cw that doesn't come out often. Many of you have already honed in on this scarf so it's not one that I "discovered" by myself. In fact, some of the chatter around this scarf did influence me a bit but I have just never seen it in person.

So PbP and I both tried it on and it looked good on both of us. I actually think this cw is flattering to almost everyone. It's also very versatile. It can be used in the daytime or evening and best of all, it's a jacquard with the bees pattern on it. So I'm sure you all have already guessed - I bought the navy and white Flamingo Party jacquard.

One of the reasons this scarf came home with me is that I have a beautiful long necklace made of bees and pearls from a London jeweler Theo Fennell. DH bought this necklace for me 10 years ago when we were strolling around London and I still love this necklace to this day. I wear it often and have never bought another long gold necklace to replace it or even rival it because I want to wear it as often as possible. I'm a huge fan of the bee motif and am constantly looking for jewelry or scarves with this design. I've even entertained buying a Napoleon jacquard scarf off of eBay in the past but was never able to pull the trigger because most of the cws just have too much gold in it for my liking. So when I tried the navy and white Flamingo Party on, it was a no brainer. Here are some photos. I hope you can see the bee motif clearly.

I think I have time for one more post today. Then I really have to get to my chores. But I'll be back tomorrow with more to share and I'll definitely be reading all the comments too!

When we arrived, the line was about 30 people long. Look familiar? And that's just the front of the line.
View attachment 3327371

It snaked around the perimeter of the first floor. We joined the back of the line and started chatting. It was moving S--L---O---W--L--Y and I was so grateful to have a friend to chat with. I cannot imagine how people manage to stand in that line all by themselves. On the positive side, I figure a slow line was a good sign that most people were getting shown what they asked for. After about 1.5 hours (I'm not sure because I didn't look at my watch - it could've been 2 hrs) we reached the front and went up together. PbP told the SA what she was looking for and when the SA asked me, I shyly asked for a Kelly Cut in Epsom in black or another dark neutral color. She asked me if hardware mattered and I said GHW preferably but SHW is fine too. She then said they just received a shipment of Kelly Cuts and would I be ok with swift leather because she knew that she definitely had swift. I said I didn't know and she showed me a pink sakura wallet in swift and I asked if it scratched easily. She said not really, its just like a typical leather, so I said yes, swift would be fine too. Can you believe I was going to be picky at this point? What was I thinking? I blame it on the long flight over.

She went to go look for our bags and I turned to PbP and said, I think we are going to get lucky on our first day and first try. She came back and asked us to go upstairs with her and after showing PbP her bags (none were exactly what she wanted unfortunately), she opened a little box and there was a black kelly cut in GHW. :faint: TBH- I've never held a kelly cut before nor seen one in person. I've only seen photos online. So I asked to hold it and I looked in the mirror and you guys are going to think I'm nuts now...I wasn't sure. It was longer and squatter than I thought it would be and I think at this point, I was half-asleep from the flight. I asked PbP what she thought and she said "you gotta take it. You've been wanting it for a long time." So I took a leap of faith and thought, I must just be in a fog and will get used to the shape and will grow to love it. BTW -this also happened with my Gris T K32. I didn't really like it at first but now I love it. So I told the SA I would like to purchase it and that's the end of the story. We went to Bread and Roses afterwards for a small bite to eat and I was in shock. I couldn't believe I had been so lucky on Day 1. PbP thought I didn't get the full experience because I didn't get rejected a few times and then get the clutch on my last day. She said it's more exhilarating when it happens that way.

Here's a photo of the box and the kelly cut in our hotel room.

After playing with my clutch back at the hotel, I decided of course that I loved it. I used it almost every night while we were in Paris. It's perfect for dining out because you can place it in your lap and then put a dinner napkin over it. I love that it has a little handle. I can carry it using the handle or in a typical way you hold a clutch. It's thin enough so that it easily can be put under your arm as well and be comfortable. The black leather is so divine and the interior has a little pocket for a hotel key. I dare not put my phone in that little pocket though because I don't want the outline of my phone to indent the leather. I also like that the kelly cut can be dressed down to go with a casual outfit or dressed up to go with a more formal evening outfit.

So here she is, my beautiful kelly cut. I feel very lucky to have her and everytime I pull her out, I can't believe she is mine.

I'm not going to show you all the outfits my black kelly cut coordinates with because I might be taking photos until next year. She basically goes with everything!

I hope you enjoyed the story and my first big purchase while in Paris!

Yay!!! I thought you were going to turn it down or that I was going to have to shake you to wake you to your senses. It was so very perfect. But I could see over the course of several days that you grew to love it. I think you were just tired.

You didn't get the full experience of the multiple rejections and hours in lines. It does add to the heart pounding exhilaration when you do get the bag of your dreams. But that's ok. I hope you still enjoyed the experience.

Since we are on the topic of bags: I did not ask for a Kelly or Birkin this trip. I have all of my neutrals and my signature color-Colvert- completed. I actually just wanted a nice casual bag and I couldn't decide between a picotin and an Evelyn so I left it to the Hermes gods. I would have been totally conflicted if they offered me a Kelly because I wanted to focus my budget elsewhere this trip. I was offered picotin in various shades of pink or the gm size and neither was for me. I was also offered and turned down- big sigh- a bleu saphir Kelly pochette. It was very very small. It made my Chanel medium flap seem spacious. And I would always wish it was a Kelly. So I was good and said no. I bought the gold Evelyn which I used for most of the rest of the trip. I love it and will probably always travel with it.

The Hermes gods then sent me a bleu hydra picotin closer to home. So now I have two great casual bags. And once I complete my jewelry collection I'll be on the hunt for a bleu saphir Kelly with gold hardware. [emoji7]

The best news is that my SA at FSH was very kind as always and I had so much fun. Oh and I was so frugal! Both of my bags already match my scarf wardrobe so no scarf buying spree is necessary. [emoji23] The Hermes gods never let me down. [emoji4]

I had no idea you were travelling together!! HOW FUN! I was following along on MYH's Instagram and the whole time she was with PBP! Who knew! haha.

I'm so jealous that you both got my #1 scarf for SS16!! The FP tattoo in navy!! I was going to get it this weekend but then one of my beloved grails showed up on the bay and I had to buy it since it does not appear often, especially in a colorway I like. FP will have to wait...maybe I'll pick it up in Italy next month and save a little money on it haha.

MYH, your Kelly cut is divine! Swift is such a gorgeous leather and that is a really practical clutch! :D

PbP, I love your new bags too. Gold evie is classic!!

There is a lovely navy rive gauche that Mai tai has. I have never seen it fir same though. There is also the light blue that the griswolds has.

You look good in everything! I love this! We are the same height so tha k you for posting thsi very useful photo. (Which makes me want to buy more stuff, so my bank account is less happy). :)

Thank you. I know the feeling, I'm totally in ban island now.

Thank you. Yes, I'm the crazy friend. I really am focusing on jewelry this year but I wanted to maintain my relationship with my fsh leather goods SA so the evelyn was a perfect purchase for me this trip.

Please don't wait too long on the FP. We thought they only had one and we might need to arm wrestle for it but thankfully there were two. They seem to be a hot seller along with jungle love.

MYH! This is a terrific story. I've yet to visit FSH in Paris. always so many other things to do, that I now really have to make a point of going att least once and also visit the Sevres store. It's so much fun to go with a friend. I know I'd love to shop with a friend and not bro DH with the bag queuing, the Kelly club is so chic. Swift is such a light and practical leather too. Love the tattoo on you, though I chose the FP maxi twilly instead for the beautiful blues.

PbP! Congrats on the evi and pico! I adore both of see casual bags. The Hydra is so cool and is perfect for the picotin jaunty look.

Enjoyed reading the adventure. Now I can't wait to plan a trip to Paris this coming year.

So let's rewind to Day 1. We both arrived in the late morning and were ready to start our new adventure together by early afternoon. PbP suggested we try our luck in the famous line at FSH. I've never been to FSH and was a complete newbie and was very grateful to have a veteran line stander to accompany me.

When we arrived, the line was about 30 people long. Look familiar? And that's just the front of the line.

Essiedub, we originally met through tpf but became friends since then separate from the forum. The relationships that you form with wonderful people like MyH are the best aspect of tpf in my opinion. I have to be honest that I have mixed feelings about tpf in general and showing off my stuff. I stay involved because I learn a lot and I have met some wonderful people like MyH.
