Hey Silkies! Sorry for the long intermission but it's been a hectic week. If all goes well, we might be adopting a dog tomorrow from the animal shelter. And then I will have a new model for my scarves! I hope my new doggy likes to model silks.

I wanted to say thank you to all that have responded and contributed to this thread. I do love reading your comments and even though I sometimes do not have time to respond to everyone individually, I do love the company and read all the comments. And it does make me so happy to know that I have saved many from silk scarf strangulation from tying those 140s. The analogy of tying a parachute around ones neck has me dreaming of parachutes made out of silk 140s. Then I would have to take up skydiving LOL! It was great fun for me to put together the tutorial and I'm glad so many of you enjoyed the little tricks I suggested.

OK, I thought I would return to an early request for my favorites. So today, I wanted to feature Fleurs d'Indiennes. I love love flowers and one of my favorite things to do is to make flower arrangements. My fantasy is to have an unbelievable cutting garden that I can go to every week and make an arrangement with what's in bloom. To add some interest to this thread, I've included a picture of some arrangements I have made in the past. I usually don't go for fancy flower shop flowers. I just look in my local supermarket or trader joe's and make the most of what's in season. The fun is in the challenge! And combined with the Year of India theme, this scarf is just so unbelievably pretty. DH and I also were fortunate enough to take a trip to India earlier this year and I was just blown away by the flower garlands that were for sale at the local market. I've also included a pic of the flowers I saw from that trip.

This scarf is interesting because I wouldn't classify it as a pastel or a bold color scarf. This cw lies smack dab in the middle. There are some lovely light blues, lavenders, yellows and greens. But then there's a pop of blue izmir so intense on some flowers, your eye can't help but be drawn to the saturated jewel colors as well. And the lavender contrast hem really tops it off. But it's undeniable that it's pretty and soothing on the eyes. It might be the only scarf I have with a brown background so I do reach for it quite easily when I'm wearing tan/camel tops. I think Pirula also fell under the spell of this scarf in my same cw recently so if you're looking for it, I think there's still hope it may pop up from time to time.

I love to wear it with my blue izmir behapi, MOP VCA necklace, and a blue topaz pomellato ring. It also goes quite nicely with Gris T which I have in an evelyne and a kelly. So here she is as well as some other flower and India pics.

Well. :cloud9: This is exquisite. You know how much I adore this one as well, and how long I waited for it. It's one of my favorites too, and I think you were as excited as I was when I got it. You photographed it so beautifully, it really captures just how intricately beautiful this design and cw is. It's wonderful with Gris T! Now I feel I need a Gris T B Hapi!

Your flower arrangements are beautiful. I also adore flowers and love arranging them. I grow what I can in my garden and it keeps me in flowers several months out of the year (only one arrangement at a time usually, but that's okay). Trader Joe's is great with flowers, they have lots of unusual ones outside of the standard florist selections and the prices really aren't too bad.

How cool that you went to India. Didn't you love it? I so agree with you about the flowers there, it was one of my favorite things about living there. Armfuls of beautiful flowers for nothing. The man who managed my house would ensure I always had fresh flowers, because he knew how much I loved them. My favorite were the tuberoses. So fragrant. So difficult to find here but they were everywhere in India.

Well, this is clearly my favorite of your posts so far, this thread just keeps getting better and better.

Best of luck with your new puppy! I hope you'll share pics of him too!

BEAUTIFUL colorway of this pattern. The bleu izmir and the chartreuse against a brown background is such a delicious combo!!!

Thanks for the pics of your arrangements as well! Very well done. Simple and elegant.

Oh and those flowers in India look AMAZING!! I'm totally jealous. DH and I have been lucky enough to travel to some incredible places but have not made it to India yet. It is close to the top of my list but he still needs some convincing HAHA.

Massively useful , if I may suggest a tiny Improvement - instead of tying triangle is square knot behind neck, tie it in front and rotate scarf half a turn so knot is now in back

MYH, my very first job in high school many moons ago was working for a florist! I enjoyed floral arranging so much as a teenager that it stayed with me all the way throughout my life. I love buying a bouquet of fresh cut flowers from farmers market on weekends. Your colorway of Fdi is one of the best. I had the 140 coral and indigo, but the mustard and brown areas bothered me so much that when i culled my drawers it was released to a loving home. The scale of Fdi was so huge, I did enjoy it for a good few years when first purchased. It did have a 70s vibe for me. Must have been the mustard.

The pup! I love dogs! Please be sure to post a pic of your him/her for us! I just fostered a nine month old westie for three weeks. It was tough on my little guy, but we miss him dearly when he left for his new home and family. I might adopt another at some point in the future. But it was tough having two dogs at first. Enjoy and hope the transition goes well!

I'm not normally into flowers except in their natural habitat , but love the way you wear your Fleurs Indiennes .
Aline Honoré is such a talented designer, I think she designs the most wearable and youthful designs.

Love your scarf and the way you wear it. Your floral arrangements are also wonderful. I prefer simple arrangements with just a few types of flowers like this. We had a fabulous florist in Boston but here in RI dear husband has learned to specifically instruct them to leave out the baby's breath. I have almost given up and do as you do with simple flowers from the grocery store. Good luck with the puppy. Can't wait to see photos.

Sending you flowers in return. This is the florist I walk past every day in Paris when I'm there.

Thank you for sharing it with us 💕

Oh I can almost smell the divine flower scent through the computer screen. They look so LUSCIOUS and I just want to stand next to them and inhale. Truly, one of the best parts about Paris is the flowers.

Sigh! Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks scarf1!

If you ever find a Gris T behapi let me know because I have never seen one! I would be on high alert for this color. The closest color I have is etain in a behapi. The clic clac with white H I have shown in the second pic is almost a perfect match for Gris T though so I am happy to have at least one bracelet that coordinates.

How long did you live in India? Yes, the inexpensive flowers is one of the best things IMO. Which city?

As for the dog, it didn't work out. :crybaby: She was a 4 year old shepherd mix and had the cutest eyes and sweetest temperament with me. I visited her alone first and she just wanted to be next to me and lick my hand and have me pet her. I brought hubs to visit her at the shelter yesterday afternoon thinking they would get along splendidly as well but within the first couple minutes of meeting hubs, she jumped up on him and tried to bite his arm. WTH? He wasn't doing anything. He was standing a good distance from the dog, did not provoke it, and the dog didn't growl or bark as a warning. Just out of nowhere, pounced on him and tried to bite his arm. Luckily he was not hurt and did not fall over. So sadly, we had to leave the dog at the shelter. Maybe she was abused by a male that looked like him in her previous life? :shrugs:

That sucks. Heartbreaking. I'm so sorry MYH, for you and the dog. Sigh. That's so horrible. I suspect the poor thing does have some bad male history. I hope they find a nice single woman for the dog. Your husband is a keeper, after all. [emoji12]

I was in Delhi, two fabulous years.

I just assumed your B Hapi was Gris t. I'd be delighted with any light, chalky, taupey gray neutral. Dear PbP convinced me I need a B Hapi when she visited.

India is so fun! I love it because it looks nothing like the US. These days, many places have the same shops. The saving grace of Europe is the architecture. It's so different from the US. I have to say, we went to Dubai on the same trip and I was disappointed. We're driving on the freeway, and I see signs for Red Lobster, Chuck e Cheese, Olive Garden, Cheesecake Factory, etc. Boring! I had to really search to find restaurants we didn't already have in the US.

MYH, this latest post is so fabulous! Glorious pix.
Thanks moma!

Yes, good idea MT! So you don't need to reach around in back of your neck to tie. The only thing is it's hard to see how big the triangle is on your back when you tie in the front. Maybe first estimate the triangle part, then rotate 180 degrees to tie?

Lanit - my dream job has always been to work in a florist. I know it's not all romantic and is a lot of hard work and sore hands probably but I still fantasize about it. Have you read the recent short story in the NY Times Fashion and Style Section? Its about a florist and her life experiences there. Its a super cute article. the dog didn't work out. So sad. See the story I wrote in response to Pirula one post back. I'm still bummed.

I'm not normally into flowers except in their natural habitat , but love the way you wear your Fleurs Indiennes .

Yes Frou Frou - I agree. A Honore and Dimitri R. are the best IMO

Oh my B Hapi is in Craie/Curry. If you like it with SHW, I think it's still pretty easy to track down. In GHW, oy! practically impossible. But if you are a size S, PM me. I might have a lead for you.

And yes, I decided I'd rather keep DH than the dog. It was a no brainer really

MYH,

I enjoyed this post so much. I grew up in a flower shop! My mother owned her own florist shop until I was in high school before going back to school for a career change. It was fun being surrounded by so much beauty and being a creative kid, there were so many things to play with. When I was in elementary school I used to create personalities for each flower and then play with them like paper dolls. The roses were the mean girls because they had thorns :blah: but the daisies were popular because they were sweet :flowers: Isn't that fun? I had the best time growing up :tender:

I wish I could say I inherited some of that floral know-how, but I just get some flowers from they grocery store and stick 'em in a vase and call it a day :D

I love the accessories you paired with Fleurs. Beautiful combination of colors and I understand why you love this scarf so much.

I hate to hear about the Jekyll and Hyde dog, but I'm sure the right fur baby is out there waiting for her forever home at your house.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, MYH! We have so much to be thankful for.
