Scarves MYH's Scarf Showcase - and philosophical ramblings about how I built my collection

Hello silkies! It's been too long! Thanksgiving really threw my schedule out of whack this year. I just literally dropped off my last houseguest at the airport yesterday afternoon. Whew! I love having people over but it is all consuming. But now, aside from laundry :giggles:, I think I can go back to my regularly programmed scarf sharing schedule. Hahaha. I thought about posting something while my guests were here, but I didn't know if I felt like being caught "red handed" taking pictures of scarves, bracelets, and bags. I would have had a lot of explaining to do! I kind of love that tPF is my own little secret world.

OK, now that turkey day is behind us that means holiday scarves get to come out and play! Woo woo! I only started collecting holiday scarves this year. Up until about 40 scarves in, I wasn't sure if I wanted to sacrifice a "spot" in the collection for a scarf I could only wear about a month out of a year. But the CUTEST scarf popped up for sale about mid-year this year and I could not resist. It usually goes for a bit over retail and I managed to get it way under retail. If any of you are looking for a holiday scarf, I would say resist the temptation to buy it now. The sellers know we are all in a holiday mood and have increased the prices because of the season. This is a great lesson in patience. First you have to be patient and wait until a scarf is out of season to buy it, and then after it's purchased, you have to wait again to wear it. So much waiting! :sweatdrop: For those of you who frequent the holy grail scarf thread, you know the mantra over there....be patient.

I could barely contain my excitement at the time but when I received it, I realized I would look like a lunatic wearing it in the middle of July. So I have been patiently waiting...and waiting...and waiting. And now the time is here! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Love this scarf - Noel au Faubourg pictured with my gold kelly 32cm and some accessories. I absolutely adore the little ornaments on the tree so I took some close up shots. If anyone else has this scarf, it would be awesome to see a scarf on site pic at FSH! And to top it off, about a month later, my little sis got a great price on the little sister version of this scarf in a gavroche.

Yay! I was going through MYH withdrawal!

Beautiful.
I just love the little toys.

thegriswolds has undergone this wise exercise in patience just like you and now her time is here as well! She'd wanted it forever. She got a gavroche and I particularly love this in that format.

I love the blue in yours! Makes it a little less in your face Christmas-y and gives it a fresh edge. It looks spectacular with your bag and those ice skates are the first bag charms I have ever seen and liked! They're adorable! Have fun wearing this beauty this season! [emoji319]

PS: great pics!!

And you have the best CW also! Such good advice to buy in the off-season. You had such a long wait!

I have winter-themed scarves (bought in the summer, yes) but not one of the real holiday designs...And one winter-themed scarf in red and green, so that will have to do!

Congrats on this!

Yayyyy!!! You are back! Love this. Love the ice skates. Agree. The only bag charm I ever liked. I'm not ready for a Christmas scarf yet which is good. I'll wait until June. I was worried it would be too Mark Darcy's ugly Christmas sweater from Bridget Jones' diary but not at all. It looks elegant and beautiful on you as all you scarves do. And yes, our closet obsession with tpf needs to be kept quiet. Others just don't get it. Poor them.

Love all of it! I fell for the Xmas theme scarf about 5 scarves into my H obsession. I bought mine in January 2014- mine is similar to yours but with a royal blue border. It is now December, so I can get it out now! And the ice skates- so adorable! And on theme. They would also go with my other winter time scarf, neige d' Antan. Too bad I don't have a purse!

(Raises hand sheepishly) um, I'd take Colin Firth in that reindeer jumper any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. [emoji9][emoji5]️[emoji12]

(Fanning self). Woof...

So getting back to scarves.....ahem.....I like Neige d'Antan! Seems super versatile. One can showcase the holly for the Holidays, and the rest for the Winter! [emoji16]. amiright?

Eternallove4bag and momasarus - thanks for the sweet comments about my Noel Faubourg scarf. I do love having a holiday scarf but oh the waiting...to get to wear it. :noggin:

Pirula - yes, for some of us (like me), I felt it was too "wasteful" to have a holiday scarf take up a whole spot in my collex. But for some like Scarf 1 - she was there after 5 scarves! It does help that this scarf doesn't scream green and red and has lots of other colors in it too. About Neige d'Antan - yes this is a fabulous scarf design. I saw a gal wearing it last holiday season at the BH boutique and she looked 10 out of 10 with it on. I had to stifle my impulse to pull it off her neck and run out of the store.

You gals are making me crack up about Colin Firth and RD Jr. I'm right there with you. I'm lucky my hubs is a Brit and has still kept his British accent. It's very charming.

I used to not be a bag charm person but recently, I don't know what's got into me. I've been putting pom poms, twillies, everything on my bag but keeping it classy of course (haha). I think I need a dog to dress up lol. Thanks for complimenting my ice skates. I actually made them myself! I decided to get crafty this winter and whip up some charms using leather pieces I found in a local store. I have quite the collection of charms now.

Well those skates are cuter than almost all the H charms I have seen!

TOO CUTE! I love the little wooden ornaments around the border. Dimitri R is one of my fave H designers; he makes the most whimsical creations.

MYH You are one amazing lady , the ice skates are made by you WOW!
It's the creativity and ideas that impress me most , as others have said they are the only bag charms that appeal .
Giving me ideas , and although I won't be adorning my Kelly they would look ace on my Christmas tree!

Back to the scarf, it's lovely and a superb thing to own .I haven't been tempted yet , but since my conversion with the 140cm scarves, anything can happen on your thread …..

I love your Noel scarf, MYH. It's fabulous, and I love the way you're wearing it with your bag and accessories. Wow, impressed with your charm-making skills; it's really pretty and such a great idea.
