I am always honest and so have to say I thought despite your generous advice and brilliant how-to sessions , nothing would make me like these huge slippery pieces of silk .
I decided that being a sorceress , your 140's were from a special source , slimmer and nicer than the ones available to us commoners. How else could this massive thing look so neat and chic?
Eating my words MYH and sending silky hugs for making me realise that if I make an effort with the first bias fold everything becomes possible.
Psyché is so lovely I'd never part with it , but wearing it was another matter .I'm also going to say that pairing silks with turtle necks can be a problem but these 140cm love turtle necks!
Look at the necklace knot, it shows the part of the scarf I love so much. Clapping!
Wow, the knots turned out beautifully and you look great! The colors in the scarf match your sweater perfectly, too.

Thanks to frou frou, klynneann, katekluet, MYH, TangoTosca, and Pirula for your advice on how you live in your scarves. Maybe I'll wear the scarves as necklaces or belts on weekends out, and reserve the other knots for the office. Baby steps. :smile1:

I really wish you could make me love this format!
it's not the size, love the CSGMs , but the acreage of silk which seems so unwieldy:
I only have to wash my hands and splat! a mark appears.

How I wear them is …infrequently !
The last airing was my sunset orange Psyche , the only one I still love although I have to be very much in the mood to reach for it ,When I do it's folded in a bias and draped to show as much of the interior as possible, just love the ochre with th burnt orange and magenta.
This is challenging to fold as the very bright orange sections are plain and very bright .
Getting up the images of it remind me of how much I love the plainer design.
I also love how the colours here are harmonious and not too contrasting.
I love Psyche and this CW is so luscious!!

I follow the same strategy about dining out.

I never worry about getting something on my scarves because I'll wear them:

In a classic bias fold once around my neck and finished with a square knot - if the tails are in front I just shift them over to the side.

In a Cowboy knot, because I can tuck the bottom of the triangle and tails into my shirt.

Same thing for a men's style tie.

Something with long tails like a simple scarf ring or friendship knot, I'll either tuck it into my shirt or just turn it around completely with the tails hanging down my back.

And to eliminate the possibility of accidents entirely, the knot where you make one twist in front and then tie the tails behind your neck, or for that matter, anything else up close to my face.

Seven years counting and no emergency trips to the dry cleaners! :D
Same here. I fling everything over my shoulder, or tuck inside the neckline of my blouse. But I like sloppy knots to begin with and they sometimes get even better after being fiddled with!

MYH, I am enjoying this thread SO MUCH! I got behind and it took me 3 days to catch up. I'll try to stay on top of things because there is so much great sharing here! Anyway, my only 140 is a Cliquetis DD in the most luscious cranberry/wine colors. These pix really don't do it justice.

First I just wrap it around my neck and tie loosely in front.
On the purple shirt it's tied in a sailor knot
Another way is to wrap around your neck and then use a wooden ring (thanks, MaiTai!) to make a lowdown V.
Then the classic weave knot. Warm and pretty.

Moma - these are amazing pictures and knots. I love that scarf! Was it in stores recently? or awhile back? I'm feeling a bit foolish but what is a sailor knot? I love how it looks.

You are a master at the weave. Do you do it any differently than the way I described?

Lovely rich looking silk klynneann and beautifully worn.
I wondered if you wore it knotted lower over a low v neck to show some neck/chest [ not a lot!] if it may be even more lovely?
I think MYH advocates doing the knot at the back which should make it possible to do that….just my way of thinking with dark scarves.

Thank you, frou frou - that is a good suggestion, I will try it! :hugs:

The weave knot looks nice, and more importantly, you look fantastic! Happy birthday, enjoy your new 140cm, and please post pictures!

Thank you, dhfwu! I will - I hope the cw looks ok on me, I haven't tried it on...

Mamasaurus, I love all your knots! What a pretty scarf and it looks so beautiful on you!

That saturated luscious red against the purple shirt has blown me away, and I also am intrigued by the Sailor knot .Spill the beans please!

Thank you so much, Pirula and MYH.

The scarf is from winter 2012, I think. I was late to the party with this design and format but found one languishing in the boutique. It does not photograph well at all! Dipdyes are awesome. I hope you will be highlighting some in this romp through your scarf closet!

The weave knot is just as you so brilliantly described. Then I twist and fuss with it, getting the colors and design bits I want to show (or hide). As for the sailor knot - somehow I can't recreate it (this is an old picture). I'm sure someone here taught it, anyone remember? It might be a variation on the ascot tie http://maitaicollection.com/pages/how-to-ascot-knot
