OK folks! That's all I have for now. That's 10 ways (including the 3 from yesterday) you can wear your giant silk scarf. Please don't neglect them in your drawer. It's time to bring them out to play! And while you're at it, and show all of us please!

I am always honest and so have to say I thought despite your generous advice and brilliant how-to sessions , nothing would make me like these huge slippery pieces of silk .
I decided that being a sorceress , your 140's were from a special source , slimmer and nicer than the ones available to us commoners. How else could this massive thing look so neat and chic?
Eating my words MYH and sending silky hugs for making me realise that if I make an effort with the first bias fold everything becomes possible.
Psyché is so lovely I'd never part with it , but wearing it was another matter .I'm also going to say that pairing silks with turtle necks can be a problem but these 140cm love turtle necks!
Look at the necklace knot, it shows the part of the scarf I love so much. Clapping!

Oh my gosh frou frou! My eyes just popped out of my head and my jaw just dropped because these pics you just posted of your two knots are :loveeyes::loveeyes: you get a A++++ for these looks. My heart is bursting with happiness that you have fallen back in love with your psyche. :hbeat::smooch: And you are exactly right, a neat bias fold from the start does wonders to tame the giant square and make it look streamlined. Now you can take full advantage of the length to achieve a multitude of looks without looking engulfed in silk. I had to laugh when you said you thought my silks came from a different source and that I was a sorceress! If only! I think that's the nicest compliment anyone's every paid me. You have made my day dear frou frou with your pictures. Your vision of loveliness will dance in my head all day.

PocketBookPup, EternalLove for Bag and MYH you are so sweet and I'm honoured!
I have to say that I was not going to be beaten by a piece of silk. After spending my working life carrying out complex and intricate procedures on live patients and priding myself on turning out good results how could I let that thing beat me LOL

[Still think that MYH is a silk sorceress , how come she is so gorgeous, clever and so nice too?]

BJS - I know you said you were eyeing up Chemins but I saw these cws and thought of you. Just saying.

I concur, I think these cws would be great on you BJS!

Thanks for your 140cm scarf tutorials, MYH! I have admired many of your pictures, in which you've tied scarves to wonderful effects, so I appreciate you sharing how to achieve those looks. I don't have any 140cms, but perhaps I'll try one out sometime.

A potentially silly question - how do you scarfies eat with so much silk hanging around your neck? I only have 90cms, and at work, I take them off during lunch or arrange them so that the scarf hangs down my back. I don't wear my scarves outside of work because refolding and retying in public is a no go, and 140cms seem that much more voluminous. Just curious how you live in your scarves, since they are meant to be lived in and should not be restricted to times when you are just sitting/standing around and looking fabulous. :smile1: TIA!

Like you I do away with scarves, shawls and even bags if out eating .
A 90 can be knotted behind but these large silks are a back of the chair number for me, often ending up on the floor….

My most common scarf knot is just around my neck with a scarf ring, so I can easily slip the scarf off when I'm eating, which I often do (though not always - kind of depends on what I'm eating lol). I then just fold it in thirds and tuck it into my bag, so it doesn't get forgotten or end up on the floor or some such.

frou frou, you look amazing! I love both knots on you, but especially the necklace one! That may have to be the one I try next... Beautiful!

Dhfwu - so interesting you raised this point about eating. I actually will pick different knots and scarf formats based on what I know I'll be doing. If I'm going out to a restaurant, I will choose a 90cm silk or 140cm giant silk and tie it in a way that it does not protrude out. Like the necklace knot. If I'm going for a stroll, anything goes. Cowboy knot is good for that. If it's windy outside, the turtleneck-like knot os the wind doesn't whip my scarf all around. Going to the movies, get my cashmere GM out and tie it whichever way feels cozy or I can use it as a blanket. I never take my scarves off while eating. I plan ahead and make sure my scarf lies pretty flat against my body. I would die if my scarf dropped on the dirty floor of a restaurant. I also don't want to have to retie it after dinner.

Perfumegirl - I am honored you chose a Marwari dip dye because of me. Maybe I'll feature that one next and you could also show how you wear yours? You already have two CDC scarves? which cws? I will confess, I did at one point own the bright fuchsia background one with greens and turquoises as accent colors. I wore it a couple of times and then had to rehome it because it was so bright! I am such a wallflower and felt uncomfortable in it. I wanted another cw so bad but made a mistake when purchasing that crazy bright one. Please post yours for us to see!

TT - thank you for your long and thoughtful response. It's music to my ears that this thread kept you entertained while at the doctors office. Part of the fun of starting a thread is seeing the responses and conversations it sparks. I'm glad I'm not alone on the CDCs. I'm sure you have thin long beautiful arms and can totally carry it but in the end, you have to feel comfortable wearing it. I think the KDTs are great too and easier on the wallet! Sometimes I am grateful I don't collect them because that would eat up quite alot of my silk budget! But that does not stop me from trying one on from time to time. Usually my little sis is with me and here are her comments
- it makes your arm look short and stumpy
- it doesn't match your wardrobe - too edgy
- you don't even own one moto jacket. it's not you
- how are you going to type or write with those spiky things
- just buy another bracelet sis

And with that, I admit defeat.

Katekluet - I guess my first question to you is how do you typically wear your CSGMs? I think I would have better advice for you if I knew you preferred way to wear large shawls. And yes, I think they do look a bit dresser than CSGMs but not by much. A lot really depends on the design, the cw, and your knot. Which two giant silks did you acquire recently? Please post pics hon so we can all help you.

Yes! a sister in crime that loves the 140cms too! :ghi5: OK, back the train up! You have seen 140cm mousselines in CdF? I have NEVER seen one at a boutique. What cws PbP? I need to know right now. It is a matter of life and death. Please concentrate and rattle off the cws you saw. Close your eyes and visualize. Help me! I have only seen one cw on eBay and it doesn't do anything for me. Get them to take those beauties out of the plastic wrap. And sneak pictures while you're at it. :graucho:

Yes, you are right! Shawls and scarves should be enjoyed. I am in awe you have not experienced pills. Good for you! maybe I have rough man hands? usually it's the prongs of my engagement ring that is the culprit for the snags.
I totally understand about not adjusting and readjusting a shawl. it's so embarrassing. But you are right...they are a bit slippery and will need you to employ some creative scarf tying. I think they will suit you - you just need to find the right design, cw, and knot. How do you usually wear your CSGMs? If I knew that, I could certainly recommend some knots that stay in place

I am not able to photography my CDC scarves now, but I attached the pics from H.com here. I have the 06 (Gray-green) and the 14 (orange). I actually also really loved the fuschia one that you bought and sold, but decided that two (one neutral and one bright) were enough for me. I like that it is a different neutral than what i had in my scarf collection and imho this is the prettiest cw they released in this design. However, I have a love affair with the gray. The greenish tinge can make me look sickly so I fold it in a way that more of the brown and orange colors are shown (similar to your asymmetric cowboy). Sometimes, I think that I should sell it and pick up the 04 (anthracite/blue) or your cw but then I open it up and fall in love with it again. The orange one is a softer orange but bright nonetheless. I find it actually flattering on my complexion, and trust me very few orange scarves are. I chose it to give a pop of color to my neutral blue suits and cream and gray sweaters.

love your tutorials on the 140s btw. I used them often and appreciate other styling options for them.

:woohoo: :ps:

Example 4: Get your mors ring out! Step 1 - Blow off the dust. hahaha. For those without one, I apologize in advance if this knot makes you go out and buy a mors ring. Bias fold the scarf and pull it through the bigger mors loop about halfway. Hang the scarf around your neck now. Take one tail and pull it through both the smaller mors rings. Take the other tail and pull it through the same smaller mors ring too but then feed it back through the outer ring. Feeding one tail through one of the smaller mors rings will help the whole thing stay in place. I like the mors ring to be on a diagonal as I have shown.

One last comment: For those with maxi-twillies also suffering from neglect, Bias fold knots from Session 2 and 3 also lend well to the MT format too!

Great tutorials, have to try them on my non-H 140 silks and practice before investing
