Ok the key is to keep the silk swishing. Don't let the scarf just sit in the soapy water. As soon as you see the stain is out (light rubbing is fine to remove it), move on to rinsing.
The brown bracelet is a reed krakoff but sadly, I don't think they are still in business. The website is down and I'm not sure if the store in NYC is still open. I also have this same bracelet in blue.

Keep swishing - got it - thank you!

Ah, I knew it looked familiar! I have 3 RK bags and love each of them. Yes, poor Mr. Krakoff has shut down. At least, for now...

Along with the swishing, don't forget to dry flat on a towel and lightly press a second towel on top [or roll the scarf gently in the first towel like you were rolling a map]. This will get most of the excess water out without wringing it [never wring it! haha]. They dry fairly quickly. I was scared the first time I washed scarves too [I started with an older Versace one and a vintage Dior before I worked up the courage to try on H! hehe] but it really is quite easy. I add a capfull of white vinegar to the basin as I heard it prevents color transfer but who knows if that is really true lol.

With 2 kids who love creating messes and playing with all my things especially my young one who thinks all my scarves and shawls r hers and I just 'borrow' them from her [emoji12]... I will be needing ur wisdom[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

Thank you!! Maybe I'll try this weekend...

Haven't been on the forums much, but wanted to pop in and say your scarf collection is amazing MYH! Thank you for taking the time to put this thread together. Looking forward to seeing more musings and mod pics. :)

Oh yes, Tango Tosca's scarf circus. I read that one too! I wish she would come back to the Hermes subforum and hang out with us. And thanks for your compliment about my writing. I'm a total rambler. :D

MYH!!!

Look at you and your fabulous new thread!!! I just found it and look how fast it's moving in just one week. Already at page 11! That's so great! I'm so happy for you.

It's no surprise why - you are lovely woman with a wonderfully curated collection and have such thoughtful insights on scarf buying. I know it can be overwhelming at times to document such a large collection, but everything you do today other scarfies will be using for years to come. You are creating a wonderful resource that will be appreciated by future generations of scarf lovers.

(Do you feel sufficiently inspired now?? :p)

And thanks for the name check too. That’s so sweet of you and I appreciate it. You know why I checked out - you commiserated with me over house building woes last year - but it really has touched me how many people have welcomed me back.

It's nice to be "home" again.

I've just started reading your thread but I'm pulling up a ringside seat and can't wait to see what comes next...!

Big big hugs to you, darlin' :hugs:

And I have a suggestion for you, MYH - put a link to this thread in your signature, like I have to my Scarf Circus. That way when you post on SOTD or other threads, other tPFers who are intrigued by your pictures or witty comments can click and follow the link to this marvelous creation of yours.

Let's get the word out!

I use a colour catcher sheet in the water to prevent any transfer.

Sorry dolls! I had a work-type emergency today and had to deal with that. I was going to post something today but the time ran away from me. I will be back tomorrow!

Don't worry MYH. We understand that sometimes nonhermes life takes over. The anticipation of your new posts is so much fun, just like anticipation for a new Hermes piece- half the fun!

Hello silkies! Sorry for the brief intermission. Personal life got in the way of my Hermes life. Unbelievable! Don't the people around me understand I need to dedicate time to Hermes and tPF? Haha.

OK, I was going to do a post on C'est la Fete since it is the only Halloween-ish scarf I have but it has been covered so beautifully by TangoTosca in her scarf circus thread so I decided to save it for another time. Also, we have seen tons of beautiful modeling shots recently in the grail thread too on C'est La Fete so let's cover something else today.

Today, I am going to talk about how a bag (yes you heard me right) can you drive you to insanity when making scarf purchasing decisions. How can this be? A bag doesn't even talk but for some reason, certain ones are just demanding! They want coordinating scarves, they want bracelets, they want shoes. So a bag that cost $XX dollars, turns out to actually cost $XX + $1,500 because of the additional coordinating accessories I have to buy to go with it. Please tell me this has happened to some of you too, not just me. I hope I'm not the only one that is nuts.

To be fair to this little scarf, I don't regret this purchase at all. I actually do like the scarf but the colors are so bright! It almost hurts my eyes. And this might be the only scarf in the world where you can wear a red shirt and carry an orange bag at the same time. But if I'm being honest with myself, the only reason I bought it was because I wanted something that would match my bag.

Well, seeing that it's Halloween this Sat in the U.S., this post is kind of on theme because the bag I'm talking about is an orange Picotin. This was my first Hermes bag ever. When I first started collecting scarves, I told myself I would not buy any bags because the price range was out of my comfort zone. But if you go to the boutique enough, the pesky bag case will eventually catch your eye. And of course, I eventually started asking about the prices of certain bags and when my SA told me the price of the Picotin, I thought, ok, I can handle that. It's still priced in a zone where I don't fell too much guilt. She asked me what color I wanted and I thought, why not a classic orange since it's going to be my one and only bag? (haha, little did I know I would eventually get a couple of kellys and evelynes) At the time, I thought cool, I have an orange bag! But then I realized...dum dum dum dum....I don't have any scarves with bright orange in the design to go with it. That realization launched me into a frenetic mode looking on eBay and in the boutique for scarves that had a little bit of orange but not too much orange. Because let's face it, I'm going to look horrible in a scarf that's completely bright orange. So after a couple of days (yes, days not weeks, see I'm not a very patient person) I spotted this scarf on eBay and thought aha! That's perfect. A little bit of orange to match my orange Pico but still has alot of other colors in it so my complexion does not turn a ghastly color.
So that my friends is the story of how you need to factor in the TRUE cost of a bag. It's not just the price of the bag itself, it's all the coordinating accessories you need to go with it. So if you buy a say Colvert bag...cough...cough....you know who you are...you are going to go on a mad hunt looking for scarves and other accessories that have that colvert blue in it too. :lolots:

Here's my scarf...Flots du Cheval...the one I only wear when I'm carrying my orange Pico. Lesson learned.
