There are also plenty of people posting who bought only what they wanted at a snails pace and were not taken seriously by their sa too, they are not given priority in stuff they want and if interested in a quota bag many times are getting no luck. Simply having an appreciation and shopping like that can go either way! It’s no guarantee the rapport with their sa. I don’t like how it’s assumed that the people having anxiety like me are rude, do not treat their sa like a human and have no true appreciation for the brand. Hello I am here stressing out about having wasted their time and have an endless list of H products I would love to have!

You should get your priorities right.
If you are in the position to buy luxury goods and are stressing about it, stop!

So I am posting from Las Vegas right now. There are three H locations and I’ve been to them all. And bought from them all. I started with my regular SA first and gave her a list in advance, with the caveat that I know it may be difficult to find anything I’m interested in. I bought two small items from her, neither on my list, but I liked them when I saw them in the store. We chatted a bit about items for the new year, but nothing concrete. The second location I visited had even less stock, but I did find one small item. The SA there actually told me when I said I could be patient in all the things that she wished others took my lead! I had to laugh. The third location had the best selection of silks, so I purchased a few from there. I’m not worried about damaging my relationship with my SA because I didn’t buy all items from her; I made it clear I’ll be back to see her, likely in the spring, and she knows I keep to my word. Are there items I want? Sure. Am I going to get mad that I can’t purchase them at the moment? I don’t need that stress and anger!
There are things that you can wait and more stock will arrive but there are seasonal things and once gone not gonna be back anymore. I am on wait list for a twilly since April and it never came.

if I am adamant to buy something I really really love, it’s not a so easy.
Good for you if you managed to browse get what you like. In my store, none of the popular things are ever displayed. Just yesterday I went to pick up a wallet from my SA. She said that she hid my item in case someone else sold it. Almost wanted to hide it in her locker!

Pop H necklace, Bastia, Calvi, etc are all under lock and key. Orans, Kelly belts, etc. never saw it out in the open. Only the requested item are retrieved upon request, if available to the customer. It’s really absurd if you think about it…..I once felt so privileged when I had a few trays of twillies to choose from.

Lol! Ok, this is ridiculous advice.
The first time I walked into an Hermes store and met with an SA who worked there for 6 years.

I showed her a photo of a shoulder strap which I wanted. She told me it’s not in the system and looks like could be a Japanese exclusive. She told me that Hermes had a long time relationship with Japan. Apparently, Japan market supported the brand a lot throughout war times and when economy was bad. Hence, Japan market usually gets a lot of nice things and unique pieces.

Not sure whether that’s true. But seems to sing the same tune with the reseller in Japan shared on her YouTube video.

A general idea I’m forming about different regions of the world from most H “games” to the least (if a region of the world is not included in the list I have not heard enough about the stores in those regions to form an opinion): Asia, US, Canada, Japan (this one YouTuber said sa there will be offended if you mention prespend), Europe

For your SA to love you as a customer, you might even have to do more work.

self regulate your profile not to look like a reseller, u might even hv to give up on multiples even if you love the items …. I was advised by my SA not to buy certain things like twillies, clic H in multiples….the twillies almost killed me coz there are so many nice ones last season! I wanted to get a couple of clic h for my cousins as gifts (sometimes you just have to get multiples to avoid comparison who has the better gift) but was told it would hurt my profile, my SA would be questioned and jeopardise getting a bag at my store. It also involves more work for her to explain and justify.

Take advice from SA on what to buy to spread across categories. This is a very controversial point but helping the SA succeed at her job means success for the customer as well. But it doesn’t mean I buy just anything the SA show me. It means if she showed me a plate or a bowl, I take a hint to look into that category (which involves doing work online to see what is available that interest me) and ask for a porcelain to buy. Sometimes for myself, sometimes as a wedding or housewarming gift.

You could even go as far as what a reseller in Japan suggested, buy whatever/whenever the SA needs help to hit their KPI where your finances allow. This is what I would say the true test of your relationship. It means setting aside a customer’s own interests and preferences.

I agree with 880s responses to your posts.
Especially that you are giving us some insight into Hermes shopping in Asia.
As time has passed you have given us a clearer picture of how you approach your purchasing.
Your sense of frustration does not seem so self-centred as it did at first and I really hope that your endurance will be rewarded soon.

I’m not insensitive to frustrations about the quirks of trying to find/buy a particular product at H, but trying to stay on the topic of this thread…

It’s essential that a customer maintain a firm grip on her interests and preferences and communicate them clearly to her/his SA because if she/he doesn’t, it serves no one. It does not serve Hermes, a company with a 184 year reputation for excellence. It does not serve the SA, who is a respectable professional who needs to know what a customer wants, and it obviously doesn’t serve the customer. The entire thread is largely about suggestions for ways that customers can communicate with SAs if they want to try to avoid wrapping themselves in a nut-roll of drama and confusion.

I’m sorry if what I shared is off topic. Moderators can feel free to delete my posts.

Just offering different perspectives on a maintaining a good relationship with an SA.

I don’t think you were off topic. I think sometimes we are wise to accept we don’t know how this company works in every corner of the world.

@Etriers post should probably be a sticky for 90% H threads, unfortunately, people would still prob. post in the wrong place.

The title 'Maintaining a H Relationship' can incorporate many angles which may be explored, but please report any posts that are way-off.

Update: reached out and offered to pick up 9k watch and anything else already ordered. turns out SA hasn’t sourced anything in my list yet. I asked for appointment in a few weeks because honestly that’s the earliest I’m available. No response yet confirming appointment time (to be fair it’s been only a day). Perhaps the watch can’t be held that long which I’m ok with? But what do you guys think that nothing else has been sourced yet? Of course they are very busy it hasn’t been that long (about a week since sending the list and my last post) but still. I still have a gut feeling that it is not worth this SA time if you’re not going to spend at least 9k each visit and can come in twice a month or something haha. No problem with that it’s just the clientele I’m up against in this area I guess.
