From what I know there is only one place that does all the Chanel repairs in the US and that is in NY. So if the OP had her bag changed, it would have gone there, it's the only place. Therefore, I would push for those of you that have a close relationship with an SA to send an email instead of just giving you a "no" because sometimes policies change and they do not know about it. It could also be a relatively recent change and I imagine people don't really inquire often.

I had a similar experience with sealing light colored lambskin. I was told it could not be done a hundred times over until one of my SA's emailed and they told her they would do it! Now all my light colored lambskins are sealed, by Chanel!

Hi Oniomaniac, I won't be in ny for a few months, and I'll definitely be using my red lambskin sparingly before then. If i want it "sealed" after use is that possible? Or does the chanel boutique only seal brand new ones? Thanks!
 
OP, I fully understand your concern on sharing your SA or boutique info here. I'm so grateful that you shared this great info here with us! At least now we get to know it is possible to change the HW!

As for Chanel's customer service, it is indeed helpful to have a regular SA with close relationship. Repair does not give any SA commissions and it took them a lot of time also. Most of them will avoid unnecessary trouble and simply say NO to general enquiries.

OP, you are really lucky to have such a good and helpful SA who's willing to go extra miles. I'll try my luck then ;)

Thanks so much for understanding. And, yes, I agree, I think that alot of SA's may just be saying no because that it how it was in the past. Hopefully, they will check and discover that it now can be done. :tup:
 
I love your bag.

I am of the opinion that if Chanel is limiting the number of classics produced, and we have to wait months anyway, then we should be able to order our hardware specifications. It would give them the exclusivity they want, and we would be happy with our luxury bag that wasn't mass produced with flaws and imperfections...well, one can dream.

I honestly would not be able to tell you. I'm so sorry :(. Mine have always been new, sent right after I purchase them, so I don't know if that's a requirement or not. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
 
No, just trying to understand. I thought the whole point of this forum was to help share ideas, knowledge, experiences etc.. among fellow tPF members. So when you start a thread like this, naturally other members in similar situations as yours would be asking you questions and just figured you'd be comfortable enough to relay that information freely in your thread or at the very least through PM. I guess I was wrong.

No, you were right...I was sharing ideas, knowledge, and experience....and as we often do excitement. I think that it is inappropriate to be judgmental or negative about someone not being comfortable sharing specific information. Hmmm....was excited to share my good news....now kinda wish that I had not.:shrugs:

I don't blame you ONE BIT for not sharing your boutique/SA's/repair details on the Internet with the hundreds of jealous strangers SHEESH everyone... be happy for her! Congrats! Thanks for letting us know it might be a possibility soon! Hopefully soon it will be common knowledge among the SA's. I just sold a bag that had GHW I wanted SHW sooooo bad. Ugh. I should have waited it out lol! :smile1:

Absolutely not true :nono:....I said very early on that I am in the US and shared specific info about how the process went and how much it cost. To be clear, yes, there were requests for specific SA/Boutique info...which is totally fine to ask...but it is also totally fine for me to not be comfortable sharing this. After I happily shared all of the information, you posted things like "what is the point of this thread then"...

Yes, I asked you if you were in the US and how much it cost. I never once asked you for your SA's info, boutique info etc...
 
Nobody suggested that it is a matter of national security. Purses are for fashion and fun! Just surprised by the angry reactions for not sharing specific info on the Internet. NOT a big deal......just wanted to let folks know that hardware change was now being done.....but not comfortable posting specific info in the Internet that might result in one Boutique being pestered endlessly about this. Ugh! I'm moving' on! :smile1:
