WOW. That really surprises me given all the *new* restrictions the company has been issuing lately, but if this is true across the board, then HURRAH! Chanel. Now, if only they'd agree to change the strap on my messenger bag from wide leather to a chain...

Beautiful. I'm stunned too. Thanks, OP, for sharing this. I wonder if I can get them to change out my blue caviar mini--it's a midnight blue with a black strap and I've always been bothered by it but I was so desperate for navy with silver back in the day that I bought it anyway. By back in the day, I mean when the minis cost $995 and the hardware on the classics was overwhelmingly gold (2006).

OMG, come to think of it, I have so many bags I'd love to make over.

Me three! Did they take your original leather strap and just switch out the chain or did they replace the whole entire thing?

Believe it or not, Chanel doesn't seem to gouge you on repairs to the bag (from my experience Louis Vuitton doesn't either). I had a bag I wanted the front lock replaced a few years back and they said they could do it in the store and that they had hardware pieces there...and they said it would be around 30 bucks. I was really surprised. And $120 to replace all hardware for a $5,000 bag? That's an awesome deal! It looks really nice!

I do not know....I wondered the same thing. The leather matches perfectly, so I think that they may have used the original strap

Since OP is dodging the question as to where she had the repairs done, I called the South Plaza Boutique in California to inquire and they told me they will NOT change out the hardware from gold to silver or vise versa. They have forward my inquiry to the repair specialist to confirm and get back to me...

There's so many bags I would change to gold hardware for $120, esp a red flap i have! that means people won't have to wait for all these beautiful colors to come "in the right hardware", cause you can just buy the color and have chanel swap it.
