Just like magic....silver to gold!

I am so excited! I had a jumbo Beige Claire with SHW. But, I have realized that most of the outfits that I like Beige Claire with tend to be with gold jewelry. And, I kept looking at all of the beautiful Beige Claire GHW reveals on this board....soooo, I decided to take it to the boutique to have the hardware changed. At first, they said that Chanel does not do this....but apparantly now they will....took it in and they changed the silver hardware to gold. :yahoo::yahoo:. Just had to share my excitement! :p

Me three! Did they take your original leather strap and just switch out the chain or did they replace the whole entire thing?

I do not know....I wondered the same thing. The leather matches perfectly, so I think that they may have used the original strap :thinkin:
Please let us know where did you get this done and the receipt showing the change for $120? We are all so eager to know!

Wow, I just called New York Chanel Boutique, The repair department said No , they will not alter my original Hardware :confused1: You must have got Luckly

Hope OP gives us the WHOLE detail where she got it changed so we can see the light in the tunnel! I am sure if it is doable most of us would want to change the hardware! LOL

No...it is not April Fools joke :nogood:. I do live in the US.

I have to say...I knew that this is "new" and would be a surprise to most....but I did not expect so much reaction!

I truly am not trying to be "dodgy" about where it was done....I am just very sensitive to being respectful of others (my SA/boutique).....especially when it comes to sharing specific information on the Internet. I do not think that my SA/Boutique would want to be swamped with calls about changing hardware.

But, some background may help....when I took my bag in to have a stitch repaired I had asked my boutique if they could do this and they said No. The bag came back with stitch repaired and the original silver hardware. So, I called a boutique on the East Coast (that I have purchased from before) just to see what they said and again....No. I was talking to my SA a couple of weeks later (who had originally e:mailed someone at the repair/headquarters about this) and he said that they had just gotten an e:mail that yes, it now could be done. I did not believe it...but he said that "yes, they are saying they now do change hardware". I took my bag right to the boutique (still skeptical to say the least). For the last few weeks..I fully expected to get a call saying "oops, we were wrong we cannot do it). Instead, yeaterday they called and said you bag is back with the GHW and looks great. I still didnt believe it until I SAW it :p.

So, I think that this is a recent change. I think that it is something that they are just starting to do. So, I would try again. While I am not comfortable giving specific SA info, I do hope that sharing that they said that they now do it and did in fact do it may be helpful (if indeed it is a new policy as I was told). Please let me know how it goes if anyone else gives it a try.

Now im curious! Will they do it for any bags? I have a black caviar maxi with shw...now i kinda want a ghw. Do u think they will do tht for me? I actually got my bag in Paris 2 years ago, and im in California now. I think i still have the receipt but do u think they will do it?

Then what is the point of this thread?

Just to share my excitement with my "new" bag (as we all do on this forum) and also to let others know that this was possible (I assumed that if my boutique had it done others can as well).

I am sure that you didn't mean for this to sound as snippy as it did. :smile1:

No, just trying to understand. I thought the whole point of this forum was to help share ideas, knowledge, experiences etc.. among fellow tPF members. So when you start a thread like this, naturally other members in similar situations as yours would be asking you questions and just figured you'd be comfortable enough to relay that information freely in your thread or at the very least through PM. I guess I was wrong.
