It is LV, take it or leave it, never for the faint of heart. Mono bags, leather bags, it's all good, I love them all . Yet, as of today I live in a large city where sadly it has became uncomfortable wearing my beloved mono bags, as they attract the wrong kind of attention, so for the moment I stick to the leather counterpart as they seemingly are more under the radar

I felt this to the core. I moved from NYC to Pittsburgh. In NYC my beloved monogram "stood out" and I felt like a target on the train, subway and bus. Now in Pittsburgh I commute anywhere mainly by car, and I am not alone most of the time. I am way more confident with my Speedy 35's in Mono, DE and Black Epi Leather now in Pittsburgh. Sometimes you do want to blend in. My contemporary bags are low key and serve for that moment. The City is a fickle witch. I love my LV's. Classics that will hopefully last me awhile.

That's why I wish more people wear monogram bags, so I can wear mine as well.(No more special attention on me, hahaha)

Monogram isn’t tacky, it’s the person who style it makes it tacky. I have seen the most elegant lady who’s carrying just a good old speedy. And for course I have seen people who wear monogram head to toe and made me wonder if they tattooed themselves with monogram too.
Monogram isn’t tacky but it’s definitely flashy imo. It is actually quite upsetting that such nice pattern/design attracts bad attention and has become a symbol of show-off(not to me but to a lot of people).
I can’t drive so most of the time I take public transportation or uber. The only time I got my wallet stolen is when I was carrying a monogram bag. There’s even strangers came to me and warned me that I should be careful with such an expensive bag while no one bats an eye on my Hermès bags in public. There’s also countless uber drivers have asked me how much my LVs cost and then went on with their unasked opinions on how they would never spend that much on a bag .

Every single time before I took my LV out, I had to think: 1.Is the place I’m going safe with a mono bag?, 2. Is it nice or appropriate to bring a mono bag on this occasion like would that make the people I visit feel uncomfortable?.

That’s why I barely use any monogram bags anymore, it makes me feel rather uncomfortable and unsafe to carry them around. I can’t enjoy wearing it. It’s such a shame.

I don’t think it’s tacky at all. It’s a very personal preference I guess. I used to be a huge LV lover back in the day, moved on and got really into Hermes. But lately I love the monogram again. It’s obviously very recognizable but also very lightweight, classic and yet it’s fun. I love the argument that there’s so many fakes out there… yeah so? I couldn’t really care less about other peoples fakes nor their opinion on my style preferences. And I wished more people could free themselves from the constant comparison with strangers. Must be exhausting.
what is exhausting is everyone carrying the same bag.

I guess I haven't experienced this much because with the exception of my Speedy 40 and my Keepall, I can't recall ever actually seeing anyone else carry any of the bags I have. If I wanted a Neverfull though, I'd buy one and carry it. I still don't think I would care if lots of other people also have one. It's kind of like cars -- something that a lot of people are passionate about but which doesn't interest me very much other than I like my car because it takes me from A to B. Just about every other car I see is a BMW, and I'm sure anyone can buy (or lease) a BMW. I wonder if car enthusiasts find it exhausting that everyone has the same car as they do.
