I would somewhat agree that LV isn’t what it used to be, but not because of what you’ve said in your post. That just sounds like you’ve gone off the brand. The logo/monogram hasn’t changed at all.

Personally, I feel like the brand has taken a much different direction in the last couple of years, and that isn’t for me. I will continue to enjoy my own collection and I will be open to any other items they may produce in the future that are more in keeping with my style.
I feel like only the quality (esp canvas) has been going down for a while now, also that LV is pushing now more leather Instead of canvas. However I’m still not bored from Lv and I can find another brand that is just as good and interesting as Lv and I’ve did try Gucci, Chloe, YSL, givenchy and more. :/

Totally. Also its very elitist. Which I find way more off-putting than any Logo print.

Yes, agreed. Not directed at the person who started this thread particularly, I might add. It's something I've noticed from several different people. It would never in a million years occur to me to gravitate towards another brand just because fewer people own items from it. That's something I've seen discussed here many times -- I'll just move onto Hermès because LV is too common now. I don't understand it. If you love Hermès because you love Hermès products/craftsmanship then great. I don't find it as appealing. I would be quite happy if LV prices would come down to what they were 15-20 years ago, and I really wouldn't care at all that that would mean I would start to see more of it out and about. Call me crazy, but I love to see other people carrying LV.

Yes, I agree. I know that a decline in quality concurrent with rising prices is not exclusive to LV, but it's the brand I have most experience with by a country mile, and I've noticed a difference in quality with items being produced now versus what I have purchased 10-15 years ago.

I do like other brands, particularly Mulberry and Gucci, but I too am always drawn to (older) LV most. I have bags from other brands, but I can't ever see myself wanting a full collection of SLGs etc the way I have with LV.

I love LV. I have several of the bags. I'm starting to feel like they look tacky. Tired of the LV logos, tired of the hype, tired of everyone and everyone wearing them.
I will not ever purchase another LV bag. I think it's time I look for more neutral and lovely designer.
I'm sure the brand will survive without your patronage. Saying that you "Love LV" and "will not ever purchase another bag" in the same post doesn't really make sense to me..but luckily this forum has a ton of other subjects and brands for your perusal.

My screen name gives a clue on my preferred designer. However, that was nearly 16 years ago. I still love the Pradas from that era and at the time, I found the LV monogram bags too common place and tacky. Of course that had more to do with the fact that fake Speedys and Neverfulls were on every arm no matter what direction you looked.

Times and tastes changing, I find myself enjoying picking up the occasional vintage LV monogram or damier bags and SLG. I always loved the suhali and epi leather lines and have several bags and SLG in those leathers. The past few years though, I've come to embrace the vintage LV monograms. That said, I refuse to own a Speedy because of the massive number of counterfeits out there. This vintage Theda is one of my absolute favorite LV monogram bags. Doesn't look like the stereotyped LV monogram bags. Just looks edgy and cool.

*Been too lazy to take my own photos, so this is from a Yoogi's Closet listing.

Can't agree more, LV is my favorite brand, won't leave it forever. Also, I love seeing other people wear LV haha. If nobody wears the bag I like, I feel so lonely. The reason I join this forum is that not many people in my town wear LV, I have no friends to talk about it.

Same. I don't live in a city and I rarely see LVs out in the wild.

Again, re. not buying a particular style of bag purely because there are numerous fakes in circulation... that's odd to me. If you just don't like the style of bag and prefer something more obscure, of course that's different. If someone were to see my bag and think it was fake, that's their issue, not mine. I honestly don't care if someone knows nothing about LV and assumes my bag is fake. :whut:

Exactly! If I were to carry a fake, I won't feel good no matter what people think it is fake or real. If I am carrying a real, even people think it is fake, I still feel good and calm, as it is my bag, I know what it is.

to answer the OP’s question: no I don’t think monogram is tacky. I like LV a lot but most of the new styles over the past couple of years just haven’t been my taste so I’ve been taking a break. The few styles I do like seem to always be out of stock online and the line at my local LV is 1-2 hours wait. I’m not committed enough to wait in that kind of line or stalk an item online hoping it comes back in stock. All of that has allowed me to explore and discover other brands though and I’m quite happy about it. I owe it to LV that I’ve discovered and fallen in love with several pieces from Givenchy, YSL, The Row, Celine, Valentino and Gucci. I do occasionally peruse the LV website and when I’m at the mall I check the length of the wait time at LV Just in case they have a quick opening for me to go in and explore the new styles. I haven’t broken it off with LV. We’re just on a break.

I LOVE this vintage Theda handbag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is well made and just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just love it, too. I may not have been clear on my post, but the photo I posted is of my own Theda, not just a stock shot. I bookmarked it when I bought it. Nice way to keep inventory of my bags. It is in stunning condition for its age. I actually barely notice the monogram part of it. All the other details are the eye catchers.

Totally agree. What other people think of my bag doesn't even enter my mind, unless it's a situation where I want to carry something more low key. Otherwise I buy what I like, because I like it and other people don't have anything to do with it.
