Did you find the snake in your garden or is it a family member?

:D

The snake belongs to an enterprising local gentleman who styles himself The Reptile Man and tours local elementary schools with his menagerie. My children both declined to be photographed with the snake, who was the approximate size of my daughter at the time (although she loves snakes and would doubtless be eager to pose with one today).

Very courageous!

So this may not qualify as "casually", however, I have been trying to master this knot as described by arabesques on her blog. I found that the trick for me is to secure the pleated end with a small hair elastic before tying the other end around the pleats. Arabesques recommended this hint in her description of the knot. I believe this looks very festive, good for the holidays!:smile1:

Well done! This looks beautiful! I may have to try it when I have a little more time over the holidays.

It looks really nice with the contrasting hem!

Hi all- I recently bought a playful scarf in a fun cw and thought it would be perfect for this thread. It's the new SS2015 maison des carres in a 90cm. Interestingly, because this scarf is so whimsical, it is easier to get away with it looking casual in more traditional knots. Aside from the typical cowboy, assymetric cowboy, necklace knots, I also tried a traditional bias fold with simple knot and an askew ascot knot (make sure to wrap the tail that goes over twice around the other tail so it doesn't slip). I think for me the trick is to make the tails a bit sloppy, not perfect so I avoid the square knot. You want to look like you quickly just threw in your scarf and dont care if it looks perfect.

And here's a variation cowboy knot with scarf ring.

MYH - where are the tails in your last pic? How did you hide them?

Great pics btw. The colour really pops in your pics!

Thank you for the compliment agneau, and thankfully dear MYH has posted how I tied this knot below. It does take some practice so don't give up! It is really quite striking when worn...good luck!

Here are the instructions agneau. Our lovely arabesques invented it. http://www.aestheticalterations.com/2014/11/10/le-knot-***-part-2/

Thank you so much MYH for staying abreast of posts on this thread! And I am also wondering what you did with the tails of your scarf on the modified cowboy with the scarf ring? Your new LMdC is wonderful!

I didn't do anything special. The tails are just behind my hair. If you don't like that look, you can tuck them down the back of your shirt.
