How many bags are too many bags?

Yes

When you forget what you have and almost purchase a duplicate in the same color. It hasn't happened with bags yet, but many times with my book collection.

When you are tripping over your bags that are strewn on your bedroom floor because there is no more room in your closet. This has happened to me...

When you can't fit any more in your closet or you feel guilty for spending the money because you really couldn't afford them all.

I agree wholeheartedly, mymiche. I've sold so many bags on ebay and feel relieved that I can actually open my closet. :smile1: I love having new bags more than new clothes, because I think a great purse can really amp up an outfit, but there IS a point where too much is too much.

When the number of bags you have reduces the enjoyment you have in the bags you actually use.

(negative consequence reducing enjoyment can include lack of storage space, confusion and clutter, excessive $$$ investment in non used bags, bag spending causing money problems, grief from family, etc, etc, etc)

I AGREE totally. I used to buy whenever the bags I like are on sale! But I soon realised that once I lay my hands on them, the enjoyment does not last. And I am on my way to look for another bag... I am now trying to cut down and only getting iconic bags and not all the bags that I like. I have learnt to let go...;)

I'm reading this way late, but what a great statement. It applies to so many things. Thank you thank your for such a great perspective stated so well!

I've always applied this same logic to eating at restaurants. It seems many people like to eat everything unless they feel like they've wasted their money. I always like to stop when "I've reached maximum food enjoyment". Otherwise what is the benefit of sitting there feeling stuffed.

I love the idea of recycling iconic bags by buying them in second hand shops .... I find that way my wardrobe has a good to mix of on-trend bags with iconic ones.
One of my favourite haunts in London is a new second hand designer new shop on Gloucester Road, London SW7 - anybody else do this too?

I don't think so and I am absolutely obsessed. I buy what I like whether new or used and I don't follow "rules" so I wear them when I want. I love to seek out rare items not something everyone else is wearing.

I would say yes. I imagine myself stop at 25-30 high end handbags and I will be happy for the rest of my life. I wasn't born with everything so I was taught to value things and use them at its best especially those that are worth $$$$. I own 5 handbags now and I'm so happy with it :))
