How many bags are too many bags?

No, not as long as you use them and know what you have. With my collection, I can use two/month with a at least 5 spare. I expect to use all of them for the year- for some time period. A couple are weekend bags. I don't know if my closet can hold anything else though.;)

No right or wrong answer depending on personal circumstances eg income, closet space, personality etc. For me Yes it can get too many. i get overwhealm, feels guilty of how much i have spend on myself and the bags don't get enough use, but sadly i still want more :sweatdrop:

It is "too many handbags" if you don't have anymore joy and excitement in using some of the bags in your current collection and had to purchase another one.

You can have 100 bags but you can enjoy reusing them again while at the same time, buy and enjoy new handbags if your financial capacity allows so. Then, it's not too many. It all boils down in what you hope to achieve with a bag collection.

Absolutely, it's all relative

When the number of bags you have reduces the enjoyment you have in the bags you actually use.

(negative consequence reducing enjoyment can include lack of storage space, confusion and clutter, excessive $$$ investment in non used bags, bag spending causing money problems, grief from family, etc, etc, etc)

You hit the nail on the head.

I want to remember your quote and apply it to not only to bags but also to all the other material objects I tend to acquire. (If I wanted to get esoteric I could definitely apply this advice to non-material things too, like commitments, goals or friends...)

I don't have much storage space so too many for me is when they don't all fit in one drawer (I do fold the ones that can be folded without damage, so that's about 4 or 5 maximum, plus whichever one I'm currently using that I keep on a shelf next to my bed).

Also if I had more than that I wouldn't use them all enough to justify the cost.

I used to have a huge collection but I didn't own a hand bag that cost more £400 (although the brand in question has increased its price now).

I am more picky in the brands I purchase now and although I frequent TPF I don't own any bags that cost more than £250. I have one Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and the rest of the bags I own are smaller brands made in Italy, Spain and France. I prefer people to notice the quality of my bag and not the brand. The most bags I will ever own now will be 5-6 bags and that would include one clutch.
