I totally agree with you..I’d also like to only buy H or similar..investment bags-with the exception of Jimmy Choo, which I have a soft spot for..as my navy crocodile bag has lasted so well…

But I’m not good at reselling(last year I sold 2 jackets)- if I can gift I’d rather do that than “gift” to strangers , if that makes sense!

Selling was hard, but gifting wasn’t an option. I don’t have many family or friends in my circle that love handbag like myself. It’s definitely my love and passion, not theirs.

I regret selling one bag, and that was my Speedy Bandoulière 35 in monogram canvas. The others, I’m happy I did. They no longer fit my lifestyle. Now in my 40’s, I won’t purchase a bag if I can’t see myself carrying it at 65.
THANK YOU!
I reread your post!
I recently returned a travel bag bag I didn’t need, I May have another vacancy if my friend accepts the bag I’m gifting her for her birthday ..leaving me 2 vacancies atm-1 I’m planning to fill on a day out in April, the other I’d seen a cute Valentino bag which would be great as everyday bag, which I’d planned to buy-but could I see myself carrying it in 25 years time..NO!

It wasn’t capital investment, but I’d rather save the space in my collection for a Touch or Exotic H, when the right one comes along..

I can’t thank you enough-I do still like the Valentino bag, I could see myself carrying it Now, but not long term, when I buy another bag, I’ll be more discerning as well…Thank you!xxx

Oh my, Jimmy Choo quality was superb. I haven’t checked recently, but I use to love the touch and smell of a new Jimmy Choo bag in my bag-o-holic days. I agree with the charitable act of gifting, it definitely warms the heart to give more than I receive. To be honest, I would lose it if I saw someone tossing around or mistreating a purse or couture item I gifted them. I am a true bag/luxe connoisseur that research, plan, and sometimes have to save up for my items. Oh sister, I might go off the deep end. They already think I’m crazy for being so passionate about luxury items. I have to explain to new friends and peers that I’ve been in love with fashion and luxury since I was a little girl, “It’s just my thing”. Some men love watches and cars, some women love clothes and shoes (nails and new hair styles every week). I just happen to love quality and luxury bags, shoes, and other accessories, and decor.

Yes, my things are bags and jewellery-and my cats…

Aww, pets are so precious. I love mines too. Super excited to hear that you’re into jewellry. Trying to get more into jewlery myself. I only have a few pieces; 1 Rolex, 2 pairs of diamond studs, three necklaces (2 gold/1 silver), 2 bracelets( 1 gold/1 silver) and 3 rings. I bought 5 high end costume pieces over the years ( 2 brooches and 3 pairs of earrings). Do you mind sharing some nice classic pieces I can add to spruce up my wardrobe?

I Also have 2 pairs of diamond studs(1 natural Fancy Blue, 1 DIF), you Have necklaces, a good right hand ring is a good investment ..I sing-for which I wear black, and although I’m not a pearl person I wear a 3 row South Sea pearl bracelet (a gift from my parents) on my right wrist with the black to break it up, in the summer I wear a bracelet..

Try to find a Signature piece which people associate with you-I have a yellow and white diamond necklace which people comment on-whether or not it’s diamond-which was a one off-everyone remembers it.

Or it could be a ring-I used to wear a large right hand ring..with an 18ct amethyst, but it kept getting full of hand cream!
I would post a picture but I don’t have long thin fingers like everyone else-I have short fingers like a child..I’m not married but I bought my own Graff DIF marquise diamond ring which I wear on my engagement ring finger..

I don’t have a Rolex-I have owned a pink diamond watch but don’t have it anymore-I wear a sterling silver black diamond Tank watch.

Basically classic, real, but your style, a bit like bags ..the sort of thing you’d want to wear in 25 years time-hope that helps xx

Thank you, Cecchetti! You own some really nice pieces. I love your style and unique take on wearing them. Literally drooling over the blue diamond, triple row pearl bracelet ( btw, what a beautiful gift to receive from parents) , yellow and white Diamond necklace, and amethyst ring. Wish I was the luck gal to rehomed that pink diamond watch. Also, thanks for the lovely tip ❤️ on incorporating a signature piece. That’s going to take a little work on my part. I’m pretty plain Jane when it comes to jewelry, but I’m up for the challenge. Thank you!!

You’re welcome!
I bet you have a bag collection to drool over..
My collection has H, but my Wishlist is what I’d Really love to replace a lot of my bags with in the future..gradually I’ll gift them to my niece or friends as I can afford Exotics or Touch bags (I Love croc!)- I have many croc bags, but my H is box..

I need to invest more in my bag collection..

Me too. No more it bags. Just classic ones that can last me for decades. I don’t want losing money in reselling.

I’m quite nervous as tomorrow is one of my friends birthday-I’ve gift wrapped my least favourite bag(she adores my cats and they adore her, she regularly buys them fresh chicken)- but she has returned expensive presents before..if she keeps it then I have another vacancy, but I won’t find out until the morning…she’s my neighbour as well so I’ll find out before I go out-she refused some designer handmade shirts last year-but accepted a marble ornament.

I definitely wouldn’t carry that bag in 20+ years time, and she’s a wonderful friend and neighbour , I do hope that she accepts it.

My friend turned 92, Loved the bag-which shows that it was entirely inappropriate for me!
She was very grateful, and I’m very relieved.

So this year, I’ve returned one bag, and gifted one, but I only intend to buy one-using the advice given by sophiegray and Timeless Classic Chic(and many other friends here)- sadly I don’t think this time it will be an exotic H(next time), but I’ll go out with a friend for the day just after my birthday and come back with a Longterm bag, bringing my new maximum to 14.

Next year is my nieces 21st birthday -another to gift, I will try to reduce again if I can…next year I should be able to afford the H I have my eye on..my collection doesn’t match up to many on PF-yet..x
