How many bags are too many bags?

I have 11 bags now. I do have 1 more on my wish list, then I’ll be done with my handbag collection. 12 is the maximum for me. With that said, nobody needs 12 handbags. It’s wants more than needs, and I believe there should be a limit for “wants” - a limit for myself, no judgement to people who have a large collection of handbags.

All handbags fit on the two wall shelves and I see them every day. So, no, I don’t “forget” about my handbags. I also have a file that keeps track of my handbags, so I know exactly how much I have spent on them.

I just thought about it the other day when I thought about my x-mas present.
I have 9 designer bags now and just use even the half of it. For me 10 is going to be the magical number after that when a new one comes another one has to go.
There isn't one bag out there which I want to have right now and so I don't want a bag for x-mas and rather get a nice watch.
I do love all of my bags and I have to start to use them because some of them I just used 3-4 times. I experienced that I can't be bothered to change bags everyday so I'll try a weekly rotation program.
I love looking at those huge beautiful collections some of you have but I don't want a collection that's to big to use for myself because I get sick when I see what I spend on all my bags and some of them are more a decorations item than a thing is use. Therefor I won't buy more bags until I really used the ones I've got.
But IMO everyone has to decide for herself how big is too big or small.

for me 10 is the magic number as well!

I have current wishlist of 5 bags, but I’ve just reached 10 bags, so no vacancies.
I intend to gift one to my niece for her next birthday to make room for a new one..

id bought a red leather designer bag for my mums birthday but she has dementia and I don’t wear red-I was going to end up with it…

just found out Niece off to uni this weekend for 4 year degree…proud aunt, we are very close, given her red bag(she hasn’t got it yet, my sister is taking it)but she’ll love it…

have magic number 10 bags but now wishlist of 8(!) bags, so she’ll get one next birthday to make room for another one!

I've definitely amassed way too many after nearly a decade of collecting handbags. Fortunately, I have a lot of closet space in my current apartment, but my ideal number is 10 (not including luggage pieces).
Same here .
Strangely enough, after 15 years of collecting bags, I'm mostly bored . So I'm about to radically downsize the collection . I am not missing anything and I am happy about more space in my bag closet
I find it absolutely relieving !
I will always have a cool bag that suits my needs
And one thing I've learned for sure: I don't like having too many bags, quite the opposite
It's amazing what phases you go through in life ...
But I still love bags and will definitely buy one again in the future

yes, I have my 10, I have enough, butkeep seeing more…atm wishlist of 8, probably won’t get most, but agree 10 is a great number!xxx

I am teetering on the edge of running out of storage room. The problem is, I'm hesitant to give any bags in my current collection up to make room for anything else. I wish I could be a minimalist, I really do. I read the books and resolve to simplify my life, and sometimes even succeed in purging some possessions, but the change never sticks. I think I'm just permanently in the "more is more" camp of life.

Congratulations! I recently performed a drastic downsizing myself, and I have to say I feel fantastic about it.

don’t worry, I regret the ones I’ve donated or sold..

how many bags do you have.

it’s ok to have lots of bags, we’re all different.

I think I’m being given a bag on Friday, really I should get rid of one, sell or donate, but I can’t bring myself to

although my SLG has slightly reduced

I gifted an immaculate mock croc patent purse, and my mock croc card holder just collapses in my bag, so I’ve put that in the next bag to donate..although haven’t taken it off my count list until it’s gone

I bought my niece a new bag for university but for her next birthday she gets one of my bags, but I have a wishlist of 9 or 10 bags

it’s ok not to be minimalist!

Ugh boy. I don't want to admit this. Depending on what does and doesn't count, about 48. With another one on order, and four more I'm bidding on. In my defense, 1) most of them I bought secondhand through online marketplaces and thrift shops, and 2) even the ones bought new are not premiere brands. I would rather have a dozen less-expensive items in a variety of colors and designs than one pricey prestige piece I'd get bored with carrying over and over. When I try to be a frugal minimalist, it does not "spark joy."

oh Claudia, it’s ok

itdoesn’t matter if you have 148 bats

as you said they’re not expensive …it’s not like you’re hoarding LV and Hernes

please don’t let everyone’s stories of selling their bags make you feel guilty.

your bags are not expensive , I say keep collecting, if you Ever want to prune you won’t be throwing away thousands ..

people on this thread are selling major investment handbags

please please please get back that Spark of Joy, which I suspect is overshadowed by this(very good but not for everyone) thread

I’m sure the people selling their Hermes would agree with me

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

If it makes you feel any better I’m the same with Diesel jeans..atm I have 12 pairs but it’s been up to 16!
How can I ever wear all those..?

I can’t even decide which pair to wear every day!

pls don’t worry, there are people with hundred of bags, it’s OK!
