How many bags are too many bags?

In another thread, I estimated my number at about 30 but since then, I actually counted them.

I have 59. And I am not sure I looked everywhere. And I just gave 2 away. And I have one on it's way to me now. Out of those, I would say around 25 are high-end bags, about 25 are mid-level and the other are cute cheapies like the Nine West I got the other day.

One problem is I can't seem to really part with any and the other problem is I don't really know how to sell them and I just can't keep giving them away!

I really think I could part with about half of them if I knew how to sell them.

How do you guys sell them? On eBay? Consignment?

I don't think that their is a specific # for this count. It depends on the purse lover. However, I can't seem to part with any of my bags. As much as I like to say "i'm going to sell them, i always chicken out. I know that I won't get as much as I want for them, so at the end, its not worth it.

I don't think that you can put a particular number (and personally even though I keep buying very often, I still don't think I 'm even close to "too many")...

But I guess I could tell when it's enough when I have that amount that could match all my outfits in every occassion (and I 'm not close to that either....)

However, I think there will always be room for sth I 'll fall in love with...

:p:p:p

I have about 50 bags. I change almost every day so they almost all get regular use. I have a few I have never used or rarely use, but I know one day I will rotate them in while others sit for awhile. Sometimes I just lay 3 or 4 out for viewing because they make me happy, even if I'm not using them. Why sell something that I will regret selling one day? It's not like it's *never* gonna get used - it just might be awhile.

I have six designer bags at the moment; 10-12 seems like the perfect number to me, but eventually I'll probably have more than that. 20 is my absolute max though- once I hit 20 I'll have to start upgrading :D

I think the "proper" number of bags depends upon how much closet space you have. You don't want to be tripping over purses in the hall.

I have over 40 bags I am embarrassed to admit. Only 20 are designer bags, but mostly vintage Coach and Dooney purchased from ebay, with a few Cole Haan and Treesje. The rest are Target, Stone Mountain and Carribbean Joe (love those Hawaiian prints!) from ebay or TJMaxx for $10 or less. I love them all and if I sold my excess I wouldn't get much at all.

I wish I didn't have so many, but they're fun and they help me keep my sanity.

I keep my cheap bags in a closet bin and the designer ones on shelves in dust bags. So often I see bags I love but I just don't have anymore space.

I wish I could keep to just five bags to rotate but life isn't so simple. :crybaby:

For me, I had too many bags when I was short of money but 'bag rich' - that was my motivator to sell and I don't regret it for a moment. There is a direct equation for me between income, guilt and acceptable handbag count!

I am in the process of dumping out anything I only carried once. I think a neutral for each season, and a few of your fave colors for various seasons, and of course, a few great evening bags should do it.
I would love to say I have a dozen, but I bet you I have 6 dozen.
About a dozen highest end designers, another dozen high end but not design house, and a few el-cheapo bags I cannot bear to part with is what I am trying to consolidate this mess/addiction to. I will be donating anything that I can't sell, since everyone deserves to have a cute bag and I have so many I never use:shame:

Hmm I think I have over 25 bags, but I'm in the process of using them all. If I ever decide I don't want them anymore, then that's when they'll go. But until then, I enjoy knowing I have several options.
After I use them all and decide which ones I like best, I'll probably sell a few to fund a much more expensive bag, one bag as opposed to many takes up much less space & I've been wanting a Balenciaga....
It's kind of like upgrading over time.

I haven't counted my purses but recently I sold quite a few of mine on #bay for next to nothing. I want my closet to look pretty and if it doesn't then I get depressed and I have to purge. I don't like to keep bags that I don't carry except for my evening purse collection which are like jewelry for my closet. If I am not carrying them, I tend to get rid of them pretty fast. I kept my first status bag though. It is a Fendi doctor bag that has a hinge opening. I love that purse. It is about 18 years old and it looks as perfect as the day that I bought it.

Too many is when you look at all your bags and feel overwhelmed or depressed. That happened to me and I almost fell on my face tripping over a few that were piled up outside my walk-in that was filled to the gills. argh.

I sold/got rid of at least 30 bags and carefully chose 2 classic designer bags to use literally forever. I haven't had the urge to buy another bag yet. I mean, the urge to browse and window shop is there because it's my love, but now I always weigh whether a new bag is going to a necessary addition.
