Work and selling a bag if needed.

I have a job that pays quite well as does DH. We have high savings targets for our joint account so we each take an allowance of $600 each per month that is completely ours. For me, it pays for bags, clothes, events, meals, coffee, getting nails done, going out with my girl friends, and travel that I do without my husband. I also sell to fund new if I don't have enough cash. I do always pay with a credit card but I pay my bill in full every month. I do not hide my purchases either.

I do like the allowance thing because DH and I are free to buy WHATEVER we like and no judgment or criticism is ever passed.

As for how many, I stay firm at a collection of 10-12 bags. I tend to keep bags 3-5 months, so I'd say about 8 new per year.

Hi,

This thread is cool since I'm one who is also always wondering how people own their designers bags!
Currently I do not have any designers bags. But I am now looking into getting a chanel wallet and a miu miu bag.
Since I have never bought any designer bags... i have not yet found the "courage" to part my savings for the wallet and bag...
I wonder did anybody face the same situation as me, when getting the very first designer bag/wallet with own savings... (^^;)

I now probably only buy 1 new bag a year, however I love clutches, so can buy a few of those a year - for some reason, I don't consider them as part of "bags".

I budget to pay for mortgage, bills etc. and put some to savings, which I then use for my bag purchases. These days I really, really have to love something to buy it, that way I will be happy with my purchase for a long time.

My DH bought some of the bags for me (as a surprise). But when I do pay for my own bags, I use my credit card. I've also hidden my purchases from my DH in to avoid his disapproval. But I'm much less impulsive now and really think of what I need not just want. Now I'm saving up for something really good in quality which I know I'll be able to wear in the next 10 years.

i dont buy purses so oftenly especially expensive one. My husband and I are both working with a kid to take care. We saves almost of our salary (in case of whatever) every month but pay a lot on insurance/education fund that almost takes about 30% of our salary combined, so I could splurge if i want once a while ...so to say but I wont. Started getting tired on LV and Chanel few years ago..but made a very very bold step last month to buy a birkin 2nd hand..still feel the pain and contemplating selling it out via ebay. (over about 15 years I owned 3 pradas, 5 LV, 2 hermes and one chanel, Coach and Gucci plus other cheaper one. Bought almost 10 pairs of ferragamo and TOD's..you can divide it and roughly guess how much per year (no regrets just that I am no longer as excited as before )

I always against using CC to pay in advance and then paying installment every month to CC..not worth it and if you do it once, you will do it again and again.

I have a full time job and buy between 2 to 4 handbags per year. I pay in full for all of my purchases and they are not neccessarily high-end labels, I mix and match a lot. I am single, and don't spend a lot - my life is pretty simple and I eat simply too. I think that's how I manage to save that much to pay for all my handbags. :P

I buy my own bags and I buy as many as I can get away with. I don't kept track. I buy and sometime I sell. Sometimes, my family members will "commission" me to buy bags pre-love. So I am not always buying bags for me... so cool!

Yes, you've got me, I am writing a book entitiled, "Why Oh Why Fendi Spy" about a wayward teenager who sells drugs so that she can buy a spy bag, only to discover that everyone is wearing the B-Fendi. At the end she shoots herself and demands that she be buried beneath a Fendi boutique, so that she can always be near the "it" bags. Fendi agrees, only to suddenly become tragically unpopular with the public. Gucci comes out with a new bag everyone loves, and no one visits Fendi anymore. All the Fendi stores are closed and instead the Gap moves in. Her unsettled ghost haunts Gap customers forever and ever, tormenting anyone who buys kakhi pants with her fearsome howl, "Why? Why? Whhhhyyyyy?"

ok, i know this is really old... but you really ARE a writer! cool!

Working and I have the rule that apply's to most..One bag in, one bag out:)I pay cash only for my Coach...I also get PCE card's(25% off Full Price) and Outlet discount coupon's in the mail..So that helps!!!!

I do the same. I try not to buy a new bag unless I have one to sell. I always say "1 in, 1 out" although my DH prefers "2 out, 1 in." :D I also work hard and save up for a bag that I really want.

I have a normal job with a normal salary, but I spend all my money on bags and very little on anything else. My friends would spend their money on clubbing, booze, fancy restaurant, fancy clothes and would ask me how I could afford my designer bags. Well, I practically don't spend my money on anything else but groceries and designer bags.
