How do you afford your bags and how many per year? Credit debt or millionare lover?

Interesting thread! I'm 19 and a full-time college student. During my month long winter break and during my 4 month summer vacation I work either 1 or 2 jobs. In the past they've been at the beach, at a restaurant, at a clothing store, tanning salon, etc. During the school year I work a few hours a week on campus. My parents give me a monthly allowance of $50, but this goes mostly towards food and things needed for school (supplies, textbooks, etc). To afford my purses I try to save up change! I keep a bowl and keep putting change into it for awhile. About two times a year I empty it and usually get around $100+ each time. This helps out a lot when buying a new bag. I also follow the "one in one out" rule and sell a bag to help fund a new one. I consign my clothes, shoes, and some purses to get extra money too. I once held a garage sale but that was an epic failure, LOL.

I do not own any super high-end bags. I am 19 and currently taking loans for tuition with a part time job. I am already in debt from all the loans I had take to attend a Uni, but fortunately I live at home and doesn't have to pay for anything outside of school. I have an amazing boyfriend who bought me a macbook pro for my birthday by saving up monthly paychecks. He offered to save up to buy me a balenciaga or chanel bag for my coming birthday, but I said no because how could i? We're both poor college students living off of monthly paychecks. So to the future, once I get a salary job I shall award myself with a nice bag. :D

DH and I both work (mid-level public servants) and own our own home. we are also saving for an adoption so funds are tight. we each get a certain amount of mad money a month and i put some of mine aside and save up fr a bag or jewellery. w that plus presents for bday and chanukah i usually get a few things a yr.

right now i am college student (20 years old) and i stopped working recently. one of my most recent jobs which i've held for over a year i was paid $12 an hour which was pretty good i earned $700 every two weeks. i went shopping alot but only some of it went into bags. in addition to that some of my bags and leather goods were gifted to me which is a total blessing. i don't have a gigantic collection nor are my bags super high end (though they are designer just not premiere designer). once i do find a new job b/c i am currently unemployed i am going to start saving towards something special and that'll pretty much be my last bag purchase for a long time b/c i have to focus on financing school etc.

My parents unknowingly funded my bag collection (of MK, LV, and Chanels - well my mother ended up finding out with her uncanny mother's intuition of "what did you buy this time and do I really want to know how much it costs?"). The exception of my first LV piano which I bought in Dec. 2005 and I saved up 3 years worth of xmas, birthday, new years money to purchase it. I didn't really start shopping until I reach my undergrad years and due to a nasty breakup with my ex-bf at that time, I turned to therapeutic shopping.

Now I'm funding my own handbag purchases since July 1st 2009. (I have a job!)

My previous job pays were (all of these were school-related):
$0.25/hour when it was actually calculated out but the job was super fun!
$100/month stipend (but free room and board)
$125/month stipend (once again with free room and board)
$175/month stipend (yup free room and board)

Now my job can pay for my handbag addiction (so far purchased 1 Judith Leiber, 1 Gucci, and at least 5 BVs). Most of my purchases were on sale with exception of my two CLs. I'm 26 years old and have done 8.5/11 years of school, just 2.5 yrs left of schooling - homestretch! Currently enrolled in a Masters of Public Health besides residency. And ugh going to pay off my 5k+ cc bill in full... which leaves my checking acct in a very sorry state, especially after monthly auto-payments from time warner cable. So far haven't been in debt yet! And I don't plan to be! DBF doesn't believe in the powerful lure of handbags, clothes, or shoes....

Going to stop spending on CLs (oh how I lust for the aurora boreale strass that LVPiggy has - darn her addicting posts!) and handbags (really tempted to save for a Hermes - been on and off about this for the past 3-4 years). I'm going to try to be good and save up for a house since it seems like this is the time to be purchasing.

I'm 39 years old, have a bachelors degree in nursing, but quit my part time job about 1 1/2 years ago when my two kids and their busy schedules really made it difficult for me to keep up with them and work at the same time. I would consider us middle upper class, but just barely. My husband makes decent money which covers our mortgage, car payments, utilities, monthly expenses, etc. Once a year he gets a bonus, usually in the six figures, and it has become a tradition for me to get a new handbag at bonus time. I usually spend between $1 to $3,000, but this year I'm going to go for a Birkin - if I can find the color/leather I want. Funny though, one year we were sociallizing with some of his co-workers and their wives and I was telling the wives about the new bag that I was going to run out and buy as soon as the bonus deposit hit the bank and they were all very surprised that my husband lets me do this! I guess their husbands aren't as generous.

Not gonna lie im a trust fund baby, most everyone i know is. My mom has bought my birkin (only 1 ostrich), LVs, Gucci's etc, though when i finish school im on my own which makes me wonder why i chose teaching lol (cant help it i love foreign langs n literature) but fiancee is electrical engineer so that should keep me in bags for a while lol

Debit - NEVER credit (I abused my credit card in high school and since I paid it off, swore off the darn card).
But really, it's just a matter of saving and budgeting my money for me. My parents and grandparents both give me some money and I have an on-campus job that I work a couple of hours a week at.
