How do you afford your bags and how many per year? Credit debt or millionare lover?

My own money, minimal debt taking and smart buying&selling. I've managed to buy cheap and make a profit on alot of bags so I've had more money to use. Sometimes I've used my credit card but paid it off quickly.

I also pay for my bags myself with no debt except my mortgage. I usually try to limit myself to 3-4 bags a year. This year I went a little bag crazy but figured if I’m not in debt, my savings is where it needs to be, and my family is happy and healthy then I should be able to buy what I want. Fortunately my husband hasn’t complained. He has his hobbies too.

I am 22 and entering my fourth and final year of my undergraduate degree. Any birthday or Christmas money I get goes towards a purchase, for example if I get gift cards for Christmas, I use them with any birthday money in summer to buy a bag or shoes and vice versa! I also use any cheques from doing online surverys and anything leftover from my wages. I sometimes put things on my credit card but pay back in full before the bill comes in :smile:I also have a generous fiancé, we don't buy each-other things during the year except on birthdays and at Christmas. But he finds the prices a bit insane, so after he got my Pochette Felicie in December (I paid 100 euros towards it) he has put his foot down and said no more luxury items over 600euros until my 30th birthday LOL! Wait until he finds out the price of a classic flap...! As for frequency, I bought an Alma BB in Paris in December and a Prada camera bag in February so I think that will be it for this year anyway, but I do have a penchant for collecting Chanel ballerina flats!

My lover, AKA husband, purse pusher, & bag enabler. All I have to do is look at a bag and he is already talking to the SA while I frantically text him that I’m leaving the store and he better not buy me anything. I keep dropping hints that this virus is a good reason to stop buying bags for a while.
Did he buy you that GORGEOUS car? He is a keeper, but I am sure you deserve it.

It's been a combination of things. Since I found TPF a year ago I've bought a lot fewer clothes and jewelry items that usual, as those funds were spent on bags instead. Same for giving up any trips to a spa, or expensive eating out, or manicures - I've learned I'd rather have a bag that will last me years than one relaxing day at the spa, or a manicure that lasts a week. My big 'out of the state' vacation last year was a work trip to New York for a week (company paying for airfare and hotel) instead of me paying for airfare and hotel for a week's vacation in San Diego. With Covid, no expensive week long vacation this year. Got a big year end bonus that went to bags, along with my tax refunds for 2018 and 2019, and the Covid stimulus payment. I've also used my credit cards, Affirm, and Klarna way to often, and am still paying off some bags.
