How are your Swift Bags aging?

May I know for swift bags, will the back of the bags suffer abrasions with regular use? It feels so soft and buttery although I read so many posts that it’s not as delicate as one thinks.. I’m contemplating a swift bolide in a light color and whilst I’ll be careful not to wear dark color clothes with it, I’m more afraid of abrasions over time. Like erosion of the surface.

No abraison on my black B25, the bag I carry most. Love the leather, not so sensitive to rain either.

No abrasions on my 13 year old B30, despite being rubbed against jeans for long periods, stuffed under an airplane seat and carried in the rain on occasion. She’s also been trapped in a broken suitcase (but we won’t go into that!). The only thing I do notice in comparison to a much newer swift belt strap is that the leather becomes smoother over time. There are a few scratches but they look like very slightly darker lines on mine and can only be seen very slightly when angled the right way into the light.

I’ve not had that issue with my Swift Bolide 27. Granted, I don’t use it on a regular basis as I rotate my bags but it’s even been out in the rain and in planes under the front seat (in a larger tote with other things), and I don’t detect any abrasions. I’ve had it since March 2018. May I know what color are you contemplating?

Gris Perle is so elegant but I think it could be too light as I plan to carry the bolide a lot with jeans.. all my jeans are heavily washed and faded so I’m not so worried about color transfer, but that jeans is a rougher fabric. Im also thinking of a happy pop color like lime or rose azalee. Vermillion I saw once and it is divine too!

Hello! What color is your birkin? I think my choice of color in bags have to be heavily considered. Ok right now I’m thinking a black/dark blue/dark red swift bolide would be a very safe color choice. I love light and pop color bags but I’ve damaged a few Chanels pink/beige/tan lambskin bags through accidental food stains and abrasion - the surface of the leather (back pocket) was basically rubbed off over time. I love lambskin cos it’s so smooth and buttery and I’m drawn to swift bags too but so scared because well Hermès swift bags are $$$ compared to Chanel lol, but even then I was devastated when my lambskin Chanels could not be restored.

So now all my Hermes bags are black and dark colored, Togo, Clemence, Epsom (epsom is also delicate to me seriously). As long as I don’t see the wear and tear I stay sane. Perhaps I should just use charms and twillies instead to brighten up my bags..

Mine is Turquoise so not particularly dark and quite bright!

Me too.

I don't baby my bags either.

This bag has gone to obedience training classes with me. Dumbbells, treats, leashes and toys have gone in it. It has walked in the rain and been licked by other dogs in class.

Wow that’s amazing! Guess it’s just me then. I already have corner wear on my 2yr old Togo birkin oh well

I personally don’t think the rougher texture is an issue as I’ve not experienced that. :shrugs: I’ve tried a Vermillion Bolide 27 and it was truly  It was the very first Bolide 27 that I’ve ever seen! (I didn’t buy it as I already have a few red bags.) Good luck deciding! :flowers:

I have a swift K32 from 2007. It is in good shape, but is getting a little puddly! I don't mind that though, makes it easier to get in/out when it's so soft. As far as scratches, she doesn't have too many, and I don't baby her either. I did just send her to spa to moisturize, and a little corner wear, and she came back like new! And I also love how swift takes color!

My other swift bags are a bolide 27, and a lindy 26. Also no issues with those. I rotate between these pretty often! I'm a fan of this leather for sure, haha!

@Tonimichelle, we are twins on color! Mine is also Turquoise! Which I thought would be a hard color to wear, but she really goes with everything!! Yours is gorgeous!

I would love more input on Swift K25s...I only have Swift in a Toolbox 26 and I LOVE it for that bag. But I like a Kelly to have a Kelly shape...as much as I love slouchy Swift Birkins I would not want my Kelly that soft. The 25s I have seen in Swift range from quite classically shaped to puddly....Any thoughts? :flowers:
My k25 black swift with ghw is definitely one of my most used bags, especially for travel!

Here are photos from Dec 2016 when I first purchased it:

Here’s a photo I just took for this post (March 2020):

Compared to swift from other years, I think it has held its shape quite well considering I don’t store it in a special way. I also have the tendency of overstuffing my bag when I travel.
For reference: K25 (2016), B25 cactus (2019), B25 RS (2020)

Lastly, this is my friend’s vert vertigo k25 (2019). As you can see, her k is more structured than mine ever was.

Overall, I feel that that my swift leather varies by year. Since you’re looking for a non-slouchy swift Kelly, this would be the perfect time to get it! My swift bags 2019 and onward are definitely more structured and matte. 2016 swift is shinier and feels thinner/softer (not sure if that’s truly the case). I don’t baby my bags, I overstuff them at times, and I don’t use airbags when storing. Being the worst case scenario that I am, I highly recommend a swift k25 because I personally feel like mine has retained its shape

HTH!!!
