How are your Swift Bags aging?

To anyone who owns a swift bag: can you comment please on how shiny it becomes over time? I am definitely ok with a bag developing a patina (I for sure don't want it to look new forever) but I do not like when some leathers look "oily" and often that look is only in certain spots, for example where you touch it regularly because the leather picks up hand moisture or skin oil. Overall patina is lovely, but leathers that shine only in certain spots is not what I'd like.

Agreeing with @Tonimichelle

There's a subtle sheen that comes with age and in the right light. I think you'll see it more on darker/more vibrant colours, but it's a very light sheen rather than high shine if you compare it too Box (smooth) or Clemence (grainy). No oil spots and no darkening of handles as yet (I don't use twillies on my travel Bolide even though it's handheld only and only sometimes on my Plume which is of course send-held only too).

Thank you! The handheld-bag details are so useful! Are you saying that Clemence has more sheen over time? I don't want to have to "fall back" to a Clemence bag but may if I never come across the Swift I hope to find.

I have a swift kelly 25 on its way to me. Does anyone have tips on storage? I want to void (as much as possible) the pocket imprints and massive slouching. I get that swift is soft and I want it to get that soft loved look without the indents and bending. Love any thoughts and lessons people learned to get me ready for my first swift bag!! Inserts? Storage ideas?

I really find with my own things to just use them regularly is the best policy. When I finish using them, I store them in dust bag with a light sillk scarf inside, ( likely better than any synthetic pillow ) using them means they get to be aired and breath.
I am revaluating some items that I don’t use, (including Kelly’s) because they just become a burden.

I don’t think a Kelly 25 will slouch massively to be honest anyway due to the size (I’d actually like my swift B30 to slouch more!) but to avoid the pocket imprint I’d store it standing up and and lightly stuffed with something that doesn’t push against the back of the bag. This isn’t a plug as I don’t currently do a K25 pillow, but not all bag pillows are synthetic!!;)

I would love more input on Swift K25s...I only have Swift in a Toolbox 26 and I LOVE it for that bag. But I like a Kelly to have a Kelly shape...as much as I love slouchy Swift Birkins I would not want my Kelly that soft. The 25s I have seen in Swift range from quite classically shaped to puddly....Any thoughts? :flowers:

Wow - I never thought of using a silk scarf. What a fantastic idea. It would be soft but provide a little support. And completely agree, I’m very good about using my bags!

Ooh, a slouchy swift B? I never considered that... thanks for the new (obsession) idea!

It doesn’t have to be a scarf, an old silk pillow case would also work( washed of course!) silk absorbs any excess moisture or odour and provides support without stressing the leather.

May I know for swift bags, will the back of the bags suffer abrasions with regular use? It feels so soft and buttery although I read so many posts that it’s not as delicate as one thinks.. I’m contemplating a swift bolide in a light color and whilst I’ll be careful not to wear dark color clothes with it, I’m more afraid of abrasions over time. Like erosion of the surface.

I’ve not had that issue with my Swift Bolide 27. Granted, I don’t use it on a regular basis as I rotate my bags but it’s even been out in the rain and in planes under the front seat (in a larger tote with other things), and I don’t detect any abrasions. I’ve had it since March 2018. May I know what color are you contemplating?
