How are your Swift Bags aging?

I have lindys in Clemence, evercolor and swift. Swift and Clemence are a little smooshier than evercolor but all of them are pretty durable. I’ve been using my swift Lindy for the past 2 years as my workhorse, weekday, throw everywhere bag and it’s survived beautifully. I don’t particularly baby my bag (it’s been on car floors, park grass, etc) but I’m not a very careless person either so don’t hesitate on swift if it’s durability that you are concerned about.

This is my exact conundrum! I'm finally moving back to a real handbag after retiring the diaper bag and Lindy 26 is my plan... need help because I'm debating between Swift and Evercolor.

I was 100% set on Evercolor however I just found out from Hermes Paris boutique directly (my SA doesn't know which way is up and couldn't answer my questions so I went to the source) that Evercolor doesn't come in black (nooo!) and is reserved for colors only. It seems (at least now) that Evercolor also doesn't come in Verso interior.. but not sure if it ever did? I originally wanted Black or Bleu Indigo Evercolor with verso interior, but since it seems that may not actually exist, I'm back to the drawing board. I do want something durable (cough-cough have a toddler) but also something that isn't as heavy as Clemence... what do you all suggest?

Thank you! This is extremely helpful, especially the part about using it daily and "throwing" it everywhere. What color(s) are your swift lindys that are doing so well?

I have a swift Lindy 26 and i find this bag style is generally a good match for swift as it’s worn close to the body so less likely to suffer accidental scrapes and scratches. I don’t have an evercolor H bag but did try L26 evercolor one in the store and I prefer the smushiness of Swift for Lindy’s.

Here’s mine after about a year of fairly regular use. I don’t baby my bags when wearing them out but am careful to store them in their original boxes and I do restuff my Londy with the airbaggy thing every time after use.

Thank you! This is so helpful! I didn't think about the close-wearing of the 26... that makes so much sense that it's less likely to get banged up.

My personal little gripe with Evercolor is that it's a stamped leather and not a natural grain, from my experience I'd be happy to go with Swift. I also prefer Swift over Clemence as Clemence seems great for casual looks but Swift can look elegant too.

Oh I had no idea it was stamped - so you're saying it doesn't feel (or maybe doesn't look?) natural? Thanks for pointing out that clemence doesn't really "dress up" - that's great to know. I would use this as a daily bag, but i do want to take it out to nice evenings / events and such without looking sloppy so I need it to not be *too* casual.

I didn't realise myself until I read it on Hermes' own website.

Evercolor =
"Complementary to Evergrain calfskin, this leather has a similar suppleness and comes in a wide palette of "forever" colors!
First appeared in the collections: 2012
Appearance: Satiny; small, regular grain obtained by printing
Feel: Grain more visible than that of Evergrain calfskin
Hand: Supple and soft
Change over time: Softens and becomes shinier"

I don't own it but IMO it feels fairly natural but while I own stamped leather bags by other brands they were not H prices and natural leather is usually more expensive to produce because of the raw material's quality.

It does not feel stiff and stamped like Epsom or Courchevel. It is supple once broken in. Some people feel it does not wear well, I’m not sure why, maybe different batches are different.

Here is a close up comparison shot between evercolor and swift. In my experience, swift does get dry, but also it might be due to the different age. I have been using the evercolor slg every day for maybe 2 years now? I don’t remember... swift has been stored till recently.... the hand feel is completely different, both are easy to get in and out from, and expandable... i find them being completely different and yet similar... with swift, the bag does have the tendency to have “folds” if not store properly (and its so easy not to, because it’s so soft, and foldable!!!). I totally get why kelly flat uses swift and not evercolor though (besides the obvious reason that evercolor was not available in kelly flat era that is)!

HTH!

To anyone who owns a swift bag: can you comment please on how shiny it becomes over time? I am definitely ok with a bag developing a patina (I for sure don't want it to look new forever) but I do not like when some leathers look "oily" and often that look is only in certain spots, for example where you touch it regularly because the leather picks up hand moisture or skin oil. Overall patina is lovely, but leathers that shine only in certain spots is not what I'd like.

My B30 is 12 years old and definitely has a sheen in direct sunlight but isn’t particularly shiny if that makes sense. This is the shiniest pic I could find!

My Kelly is roughly 10 years old with the slightest sheen but no “oily patches“. I haven’t experienced Swift to develop that strong of a shiny patina.
