How are your Swift Bags aging?

I think it's different for different models/leather. I know we're not supposed to keep them in their boxes for any length of time and out of their boxes I have to store upright. Some SAs also say, stuff and hang by the handles but...surely that wouldn't be good for most bags, how to get one off without the rail collapsing, would have to be a really thick rail, how would dust-bags stay put? I just store as well as I can.

and sorry I meant 'prevention' of course not 'reinvention' ha ha

I can’t keep my bags in the boxes because I honestly forget to use them then! Out of sight out of mind is so true for me. *Reinvention* may have been an autocorrect, but it gave me a nice mental jaunt, imaging the ways to reinvent a well-loved swift bag :) That thread about “show me your floppy used up birkins” is amazing. I have it in my favorites because as someone said here, the look is so “rock and roll” that it does really reinvent the bag. I think a bag’s life goes from looking pretty and perfect, to gently used and still nice, to ugly duckling workhorse, and finally to used up and very BA cool looking. I had a used up B35 that I still regret selling. My husband hated it through! He was like, why would you use that bag when you have nice ones? ;)

Just wanted to bump this thread up again to see how everyone's swift bags are holding up? Really interested in a kelly 28 in gulliver. How is everyone still enjoying their bags? Also please post photos <3 TIA! xx

Mine are not Gulliver and actually this thread is not about Gulliver but Swift. Gulliver would only be used to make what could now be considered vintage. All leather gives with age, even stamped, so the older the bag, the more it should relax. My SA, who is a Hermes veteran said that Gulliver is Swift and vice versa, that the change was only the name, but I wasn't around when actual Gulliver could be bought new so. you'd have to take her word for it.

Anyway, here are mine:

1. 9 years old Swift Web Bolide 45 and used for work and/or travel, pic last Thurs. Obviously, it's a big bag (and is only half-empty at time of the pic)

+

2. 4 yo Swift Plume Plume taken last month used for everything but work. Again, it's bigger than a K 28 but it has more of a fully structured shape which keeps it sturdy.

I think it'll depend a lot on how the Gulliver 28 has been carried lately. Obviously all Ks keep their structure and shape better if they're carried the way they were intended (sangles in place, bag shut and turn-lock used) but that hasn't been the fashion lately.

Also thought you might like a close up which shows the texture of Gulliver. Swift is smoother and floppier over time. This is a 20 year old bag remember!

Wow I’m so impressed with condition of this bag despite how old it is. This post and photos has changed my mind about Gulliver leather.

I only buy preloved because I love old leathers that has been discontinued but Gulliver was never in my “H Leather wish list” before.

Looks like my leather wish list just expanded! My H leather wish list are:
[emoji7]Buffalo Skipper, Ardennes, Vache Liegee, Barenia and now...GULLIVER! [emoji7]

I wonder why they reamed it if it was just a name change. Perhaps 'Gulliver' created a copyright problem(?).

From what I have read here, it was not just a name change. Gulliver is thicker and heavier than Swift (again, this is just my understanding from old tPF posts). I think Swift got its name just because the H powers that be were being clever. :P

What I don’t know (and now this thread has me curious) is if Swift was introduced immediately after Gulliver was discontinued, or if there was a break in between.

That's what's written and now part of folklore, but Swift comes in all thicknesses. I tried a Medor 23 ad it was practically a jewellery roll, but my bags 45 and 32 are quite thick (and not light - especially considering one is called 'Plume').

A bit OT but I have had Vache Liegee and it was disappointing. Much more prone to scratching than I had thought. Not delicate, but not like togo, either.
