BBC, did you inquire how the finished scarves will be returned to those of us who can't revisit the pop-up?
You know, I had thought of doing the Battery Park scarf, too, but I think the palette will work for me. . . I have to play with it a bit. I have found two 90s that are dreadful on me (why I have them I do not know) and one 140 that I don't love, so I think I have my trio of future dip dyes. . . .

Mindi, I will ask when I go back tomorrow, especially as if I do the BP I won't be able to get it Sunday.

Sadly, BP is not working on me. There are some very pretty colors in it, but not enough. It's not pale enough to be delicate on me, but not bold enough to handle my coloring, plus that green on me is a NO (I love malachite VCA but have disappointed many an SA who was sure it would be fab on me...I love the look that just washes over their faces when they realize it's SOOO bad on me). I need subtle or vibrant, anything in between just fizzes out....pfffft. I've had to get rid of some exceptional grails because of that.

Then I hope you do dip dye the BP scarf, BBC! It will be a limited edition of ONE--how cool is that?!
I might be there sometime tomorrow, too, so I will ask myself, thanks! I'd think they'll have to mail them or have them held at Madison--can't think of any other arrangement that makes sense. . . .

Well, DS and I will be stopping by right after his lesson which ends at 1 - hope to run into you!

ETA: traffic is bad....maybe I should stop by before his lesson...

I am hoofing in from my "bedroom suburb" via public transport. Heaven knows when I'll get there. Couldn't do a pop-up in Midtown, could you Hermes? Ooooooh, noooooo.

That wouldn't be cool enough for them!! I saw the location, a pain to get to!

A member from our team is going tomorrow with a scarf of mine to have it dip-dyed. It's an orange scarf (I need to find all the details) that I forgot I had and have never used. Not sure the color is going to be great for dip-dying but I want to make it a part of our editorial to talk about the entire process. Hope you all have good scarves that will come out well!

Megs, maybe your team member can FaceTime/Skype you. They have consultants there to advise you of how your scarf is likely to look based on the dye you choose. For the visual they have lots of scarves hanging in different colors and they know (or you may know) what the colors were before the dipdying process. I actually found those scarves to be quite helpful in choosing pink - I probably would have gone for the blue otherwise. I am interested to see what they advise for orange.

Thanks for the tips! Totally makes sense, was thinking pink for the orange but hopefully they have a reference there.

I figured, as horrible as it sounds, since I never ever use this scarf, it won't be horribly upsetting if I don't like the final result. Sounds wasteful, but you know :shrugs:

I had a lovely Dip Dye experience this morning with a patient and thorough staff. It wasn't busy, however, so your mileage may vary! Some tidbits:

The consultants (3 when I was there) are freelance textile pros, all grads of SCAD, I believe, and are extremely knowledgeable about what the dyes will do to your scarf. Once you decide, your scarf is inspected, info noted and photographed. It is helpful to them for you to have your name/address/scarf name already prepared. I used notecards.

The scarves are washed before dip dyeing. 2 day lead time for pick up. If you can't make it back, they will be held at Madison for you. If you ask nicely :amuse: they might arrange to ship it.

The scarves on display are not for sale. I fell in love with one but there were no duplicates. The SA (different from the consultants) said she'd send it to me on Sunday if it were still there. Didn't understand that, but whatever! It's H!

The scarves in the cases are for sale and I was surprised to see several designs going waaaaay waaaay decades back. She said they had all come from Paris. I spied a gorgeous green Les Amazones!!! All scarves are 395.

Best of all, there was no restriction on the number of scarves to dye!!!! I went loaded up with 8 and left 7 behind. One didn't make the cut because she didn't think the colors would do well and I was prepared for that...too much brown.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any qs.

Yes to pocket squares! They took one of mine. Colors offered: blue, violet and pink only. Good luck!
