I hope not. I’ve been with them for 15 years but this is what I see each time I go. Ofc it depends and especially since I do SO’s. I think this year they are trying to be more open to the locals with the wishlist and I hope they are.
Im saying because my Husband got 3 QB in 3 years with 0 spend, just the bags (wishlist system)!
I also got 1 QB with wishlist and not much spend beside bags (got offered 4 NQB while waiting for my wish to arrive !
I always felt switzerland is a fair country for locals that do not work with pre-spend, but it’s just my 2 cents :)

This is also my feeling.
Besides, culturally, imagine asking the Swiss (yes, I am aware that there are lots of other nationalities as locals as well) to do pre-spend
Hopefully this practice stays.

ETA: I do however imagine that compared to 15-20 yrs ago, it's much more difficult to get bags due to higher demands. Not to mention that my small store gets very few interesting bags now. I wished I started much earlier.

You absolutely need pre-spend in Swiss to get SO’s and exotics. It was much harder 10-15 years ago as confirmed by the SM and SA (at one point they removed the wishlist).
The wishlist does not include SO’s or exotics. There is a separate wishlist for those as I got an appointment in the fall. This is for the Geneva store. They have the wishlist and that has been generous for sure to locals. It was much worse 10’years ago when they discontinued it. I am glad they have it set-up again. Good luck to you ladies and gents.

Is there also pre-spend for heritage leather (box, barenia, peau porc) in CH based on your experience or is it a matter of wish-list? Thank you!

Box production has increased more than before but it is still a hard one to get. I think they have a preference for people who have shown interest in the brand. I am speaking about box. I have a Constance 18 black box GHW for which there was probably more ‘competition.’ Have you tried to see what your SA would say? Usually sometimes they give you a ‘clue’ to let you know.

Thanks for your reply. I am in line for a Barenia but Basel claims not to have seen it in five years. So I am just waiting, as I also don’t want anything else.
I tend to believe them but I am curious if, like exotics, there’s a pre-spend requirements. Of course I am aware that if there’s a VIP wanting the same, s/he would be ahead in the list.

I am not sure which store that is but I have seen barenia a few times in the past 5 years. I think it’s more if a VIP requests it like you said. I know they have bags in the back for certain that they keep. Also it will depend on the specs of the bag. Have you tried chevre, it is such a beautiful leather. I have to do it as a SO but recently was told that there are some chèvre bags that are in rotation and possible for wishlist.

Hi, i’ve been reading this thread alot and I’ll finally be heading to st moritz for a day trip soon and was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to get a non-quota bag there with a little pre spend?

I'm in Germany, but my friend lives in Switzerland (German part) and she gets offered to make a SO every year for the last 8 or 9 years. She spends less than 2K a year. I think the German part is different from the French part when it comes to pre-spend. As @Helventara mentioned I can't imagine bringing up pre-spend with Swiss Germans, culturally it would be unacceptable.

I think it’s the same in the French part but Geneva store that is the worst of them all!

I never heard any Swiss stories from Vaud or Valais shops regarding wishlist or SO’s implying pre-spend !
Exotics I cant tell !

But maybe when SA feels you are from a different culture, where pre-spend is considered normal, they take advantage of the situation 🤷🏻‍♀️

Here it’s absolutely not in our culture and personally, I would never spend in any brand that pressure me to pre-spend to get something else !
