Thanks Markova. I have called (cembra) the ones behind the migros card and they said it is correct. Also, had the cross border charge for calida as well.

If you don’t mind me asking which bank card are you using? I am thinking about adding another credit card.

Strange. I've been using both Visa (Bonuscard) and Mastercard (not sure which bank), sometimes through PayPal.

Hello everyone. New poster here, long time lurker. I am finally financially ready to start my Hermes journey and have a few questions. I am a local in Basel. I wonder if the usual practices I read here, like finding a specific SA to build a purchase history, making appointment to discuss leather or just to get knowledge of bags are common practices in Switzerland? I just cannot imagine the Swiss doing that . I've tried dropping in the Basel boutique a few times. One SA was really helpful but he didn’t have the shoes I wanted yet and when I came back, I got a different and rude SA. I am wondering if I should persist or find another store. Thanks for any feedback.

Hi BVBookshop,
My in-person H shopping experience in Switzerland has been in Lucerne (no longer in existence) and Zurich, and I've always found every single SA charming, here and other countries. Maybe just lucky, but I'd try again. Buying smaller items and establishing a record as a good customer is certainly not a mistake in any kind of store, but I don't think the Swiss play those kind of "games." Having said that, I'm certain that my Kelly SO Black came to me because I was a loyal and easy customer. Good luck! x

I’m also a local of Basel and have been frequenting the boutique on and off for years. I agree that the customer service is a bit like how you describe, which is not too different from LV across the street. Having said that, if you have specific objectives and wishes when you go to the shop, you should let them know. Then they are laser focused to help you and the service is great. When you are just browsing, they are less focused in helping you. As you know the store is incredibly small and most items are not on display, so you need to know what you want. I think you have to show you are a serious customer. Many times when I am in there, the few customers that come in, they mostly come in to browse and leave. When there is a serious customer in search for something, I notice a big difference in behavior. Also, if I go to the boutique, I tend to buy something. I usually won’t go in just to browse. I do my homework in advance of going. I only recently started working with a SA but she is also fine if one of her colleagues helps me if she’s busy or not around. Hope that helps and good luck on your H journey!

Thank you for taking time to write about your experience. May I know how long it took you before being offered an SO bag?

To clarify, SO Black is not a Special Order (SO) but was a limited edition with black hardware on black box leather. I'd been a regular customer for only a few years, and as soon as I got wind of it, I put in an order—so I was at the top of the list.

I had the best experience in this boutique because they took me seriously. I managed to place a SO Birkin 30 with nearly no buy history. On the contrary my old home boutique ( another country) refused to place my SO after buying a bunch of Bolides and Birkins.
Also I want to mention a great experience in Zurich.
When going shopping at Hermes, I certainly know what I want , but not just to drop in and spend SA'a attention

Thank you for sharing your positive experience, did you get your SO at the Basel boutique? I'm asking because a friend who regularly shops there was recently told that the Basel boutique doesn't do special orders (maybe things have changed).

Hi Markova, Do you have any SA recommendation for Zürich Boutique? Thanks.

By the way has anyone visited the newly refurbished Zürich boutique in Paradeplatz?

I dealt with Sophie Anache Strobel and she was lovely, but that was several years ago and I'm not sure if she's still there. Haven't been in Zurich for a while!

Thank you so much.

Sophie is the store manager and hardly works with clients anymore (she's mainly in the office). All the sales associates at the Zurich store are friendly so you can't go wrong with any of them. The renovated store just officially opened to the public yesterday, but I saw IG posts from the VIP's that were invited on Saturday to the store opening. Store looks fabulous!

Oh, Thank you for this information, much appreciated.
