Hello everyone!

My name is Philip, and I've been a reader of this blog for a few weeks, and I thought I'd jump in and partake of the conversation. May I just say first, Candace you are an inspiration and deserve everything your heart desires.

I'm 26 and am dying to get some Hermes. The reveals and pictures in this forum are so addicting I find myself logging on at work, where I don't make that much money. I used to spend money on other luxury items, such as Prada bags, Smythson notebooks, things of that nature, but I've realized that I do very much need more Hermes in my life. At the moment, I only have a half used bottle of perfume I got at LAX and a vintage bar of Hermes Soap a family friend gave me. I'm so serious about buying Hermes items that I've opened a separate bank account to save money! My birthday is on June 29, and the day after, a Monday when no tourists will be there, I'm hitting the Rodeo Dr. Hermes and buying something. I'd like either an H-Our Watch, a box-calf agenda cover. If I have saved up enough, I wouldn't mind a Paris Bombay bag either. My ultimate goal is to get a Gold, Rouge, or Black Birkin, but I have to wait until I buy a few essentials (car, home) before I can make that jump! Anyway, I just wanted to tell my story. I'm so glad I found this forum!

valencia, Wealth challenged. I love it. ;)
Aww...Yes, we're all VVIP's. :)

I agree...even if I had the $$ to technically buy the bag,
if I could pay off my school bill, of course that comes first,
etc.

candace, you are awesome.
I love your outlook, and you're right.
I'm glad I've made such great friends here. :)
I still hope you get your dream bag. ;)

Hi, Philip. Welcome to the board. :)
Have fun with Hermes. :)

Hi Philip! Welcome to tPF and to the H side! :yahoo: I'm actually pretty new around H myself, but the list of H must-haves has grown pretty long and specific... thanks to all these tPF reveals :p Can't wait to see your first watch/agenda!

No prob Candace! :)

I am so excited for my trip on my birthday in June. I'm sort of the only person in my life who "gets it." My best friend is going with me, and she'll be spending money too. I have been obsessed for such a long time now. I'm even putting together an outfit! :) Haha. I'm still not sure what I want. I want to go and meet a really nice SA. Depending on my coin situation, I may be able to purchase a bag, but if not, then definitely a leather piece. I'm leaning towards a watch or an agenda cover. I'd love a globetrotter in box calf, but I'm open to whatever I find there. :) I'm starting a tradition. My birthday falls half way through the year. So, for Christmas and my birthday, I'm going to save money for six months and spend it at Hermes! I hope they remember me after six months! :)

I think that is a cute tradition. every six months you get a present from Hermes. I love it!!!!!! And it's much easier to meet small goals - like save for six months and buy something that you want. And maybe you could keep saving, but only use a portion each six months, and save the remainder for a bag...so you are saving for a big goal but get little rewards along the way :D

I applaud your decision and discipline to pay cash for your Birkin, unlike many of us on this forum I'm sure (me included!). Stay with it girl, keep your eye on the prize. Then when you finally own it, there's no guilt, no regrets just pure lust. And it's all yours. Cheers and hang on to your dream!!!!

Daphne

Everyone was talking about how we need an H Support Group Thread-- IE, for those of us who can't afford our dream bags right now or have to save up for it, this is a thread to talk about it; discuss your dream bag, vent about frustrations in not being able to get it, discuss savings tactics, etc. I know there are a lot of us out there who can't get our dream bag right now and it may be many years before we can, so this is a great way to join with other people in our situation! Maybe the mods could sticky this thread?

I'll start!

Hi! My name is S, and I'm an Hermes-a-holic. I was very close to getting my dream Birkin with money from an inheritance from my grandmother, but I'm also house-hunting, and that money should go towards a down payment, really. I'm having to be responsible here, and though I think it's the right decision, it's so hard!

My dream bags: 30cm Birkins, in Clemence or Togo, Blue Jean and Black, with Palladium hardware :)

Who are you? How are you saving? What are your obstacles? What's your dream bag?

daphne, While I might charge my Bolide, I won't
purchase one UNTIL I have the funds availble to pay
the credit card bill 30 days later. For purchases, I rarely
like to use cash, I'd rather have that extra added "insurance"
of paying with a credit card. :)

Philip, 2 Hermes gifts a year! I like that math. :)

it's funny how calm I feel at the knowledge that it will be a really super long time until I get my dream bag...scratch that...ANY bag whatsoever. I want a raisin, rose shocking, jaune or lagoon Lindy or any similar color...so I am not too restrictive...I would be happy with anything though. I think I'm forcing myself to 'not care' to make it easier...that's how I roll. Sometimes things just aren't in the cards ya know? Well...eventually. I just hope I don't have to go on too many deployments to make it happen! Sometimes I feel ill that I'm wanting luxury items as a result of hard work in a conflict with another nation...but that would be a whole other philosophy paper that I am not prepared to deal with. My reality, along with others (MsJade, etc) is that we put in hard work at crappy hours and little pay, and potentially dangerous situations, in order to save up for something pretty. I wish Hermes were a re-enlistment bonus.

Candacce, you are a cool dudesse!!!

For those of us here who don't own a H bag, I'm curious what
brand of bags do you carry? I did like that made in Italy Bolide
knock-off Alto bag from Dooney and Bourke, but I'd rather keep
saving** and just my free gift from Sephora tote for large things
that I have to carry.

I do have a small (not big enough for magazines) Dooney
that I do use when I need to technically use a purse.

So, what do you all carry?

**after all the awesome ladies here told me not
to "waste" my money. ;) Sometimes a gal could use a little
help in that area. :)

I have a lot of Coach bags but I want to sell them before the deployment and just keep the one I use every day for work: my black patent leather hobo. It's ginormous!
I'm going to get an LV sometime this year probably. Other than that I mainly use those Coach wristlets that are like mini purses, that you can unstrap and make into a purse strap that fits over your shoulder...

kelly_birkin, i carry a BV sloane that my fiance gave me for christmas last year. i also am a bagaholic and tend to buy a lot of bags on a regular basis, but to save for H i am selling a lot of the ones i don't use.

on another note, i'm so excited, you guys! i think i've finally found "the one" - the SA i want to develop a relationship with and buy everything from. she's kind of new, so she was eager to develop new relationships and everything, and she was very very informative. she was so nice i even went ahead and bought 2 twillies and a kelly wallet from her today, even though i had been planning to pace my purchases from H for awhile - i just wanted to give her the commission!! but i feel like i've made a major step toward H bag ownership, and i'm soooo excited :yahoo:
