For those of us here who don't own a H bag, I'm curious what
brand of bags do you carry? I did like that made in Italy Bolide
knock-off Alto bag from Dooney and Bourke, but I'd rather keep
saving** and just my free gift from Sephora tote for large things
that I have to carry.

I do have a small (not big enough for magazines) Dooney
that I do use when I need to technically use a purse.

So, what do you all carry?

**after all the awesome ladies here told me not
to "waste" my money. ;) Sometimes a gal could use a little
help in that area. :)

KB, I usually go until my bags fall apart! LOL, ok it is a bit of an overstatement, but I generally do use one bag straight per year. The first designer one was an MK satchel which serviced me through 2006/2007 and then the glazed leather handles started peeling apart. After that, it was a Cynthia Rowley bag which, after spending a ton of time on tPF, I noticed that it was a complete knockoff of the YSL Downtown! By the time some threads came loose, I was in love with H and my happy ending (for this year, anyway) is my beloved Lindy!

kelly_birkin, i carry a BV sloane that my fiance gave me for christmas last year. i also am a bagaholic and tend to buy a lot of bags on a regular basis, but to save for H i am selling a lot of the ones i don't use.

on another note, i'm so excited, you guys! i think i've finally found "the one" - the SA i want to develop a relationship with and buy everything from. she's kind of new, so she was eager to develop new relationships and everything, and she was very very informative. she was so nice i even went ahead and bought 2 twillies and a kelly wallet from her today, even though i had been planning to pace my purchases from H for awhile - i just wanted to give her the commission!! but i feel like i've made a major step toward H bag ownership, and i'm soooo excited :yahoo:

BlueGenes, I'm glad you've found an SA...mine was pretty new, too, but she is just so sweet and genuine that she already has built up quite a clientele in the 2 months she's been there. Can't wait until you make your blue dreams come true!

Im so happy to have found a sweet SA, too. She always recommends the stuff she thinks we would like and def. gave us tips about the "hows and whats" as up until recently we had next to now clue about how things work around here. We are supposed to be going to London and Paris this summer but I almost don't want to go to any other Hermes boutiques because I feel like I would be cheating on the boutique back home, lol.

Gosh I can't wait for my birkin...

OK I'm getting in on the discussion.

I sat down and had a discussion with hubby last night.

It went something like this:
---
Me: I'm 27. I have some decisions to make. We need to decide what to do with the rest of our lives.

Him: OK

Me: You know, I can totally afford a Birkin.

Him: So get one.

Me: But I don't want to buy it on credit.

Him: How much is it?
(the sweetie that he is, he's probably thinking 'ok so I'll buy it for you')

Me: 10k

Him: Jesus.
*coughing down his Mountain Dew*

Me: Or we could have kids.

Him: Whatever you want to do.
---

Yeah, my husband is a sweetheart. He understands. Basically, whatever I want to do he's ok with.

We've talked in the past about having children. We definitely want at least one child. But he's ok with whatever happens in life.

And I for some reason feel like it's either children or a Birkin.

Am I alone in this? Is the choice really children or a Birkin? Or am I making it out to be a bigger decision than it is? I'm sure I could do both, probably. But the psychology of it worries me -- it's like I'm doubting the concept of having children by focusing my attention on the concept of owning a Birkin.

Anyways, as of today I'm on a 2 year plan. I'll buy a scarf or something small every other month and build a relationship with an SA while I save up for my first Birkin.

purly, omg, of course you can have both kids and a birkin!! your discussion w/ hubby is so funny! :roflmao: i mean, i see what you're saying; probably you can't get both at the same time. but if you're on a 2-year plan to get a birkin, you'll be 29/30, and you can then start planning for your first child. and you'll have at least 10 good reproductive years for ten children (or one, whatever the case may be) for your brood of non-Birkin babies.

dhalia, doesn't it feel great to have your "own" SA? i was actually thinking of purchasing a used birkin on eBay, if i could find it, because i'm impatient and can't wait until next spring for the july PO to go through; but shopping at the boutique just feels too much fun now!

Kelly_Birkin, thanks! what's your plan for your H-bag? When are we going to see your reveal?

Choco_Grace, thanks for your compliments, you're so sweet! so what's next for you? :p

Hmm... I don't think really that it's children or birkin. It may depend on your income and what you spend it on / how you spend it each month. It's not like you will get a birkin bag every two weeks!

BlueGenes: I know what you mean!! I also kept looking at birkins and kellys on eBay but I loveee going to the boutique and I love how nice & welcoming the SA and manager are. For a long time the boutique itself intimidated me but they are so friendly!

I mean it in the sense that if I had children, I would end up spending all the spare money on making their lives wonderful instead of saving up.

We're not independently rich lol, so this is the extra money from our paychecks we're talking about. I have no trust fund, though I wish I had!

Well I guess when you put it that way. :roflmfao:
