it's funny how calm I feel at the knowledge that it will be a really super long time until I get my dream bag...scratch that...ANY bag whatsoever. I want a raisin, rose shocking, jaune or lagoon Lindy or any similar color...so I am not too restrictive...I would be happy with anything though. I think I'm forcing myself to 'not care' to make it easier...that's how I roll. Sometimes things just aren't in the cards ya know? Well...eventually. I just hope I don't have to go on too many deployments to make it happen! Sometimes I feel ill that I'm wanting luxury items as a result of hard work in a conflict with another nation...but that would be a whole other philosophy paper that I am not prepared to deal with. My reality, along with others (MsJade, etc) is that we put in hard work at crappy hours and little pay, and potentially dangerous situations, in order to save up for something pretty. I wish Hermes were a re-enlistment bonus.

Hope you don't think about that too much... I think you just need to compartmentalize and realize your job's just your job; you earn your money and you totally have a right to be happy and treat yourself with what you earn. I actually kind of like having this long-term "goal" of getting an Hermes bag... it's forcing me to save in a way that doesn't feel punitive or disciplinary, but feels hopeful and happy and exciting.

I hope you don't have to go on too many deployments too! My brother's done with his Iraq duty, and we're hoping he doesn't get called back...

:s Unfortunately I am a nutjob and got my Bachelor's in philosophy...so I can't help but think that way...:D LOL!!!! I guess I decided to not care that I won't have anymore H for a really long time, or ever, because if it really bothered me then I would find a new career that would allow me to save for it easier.

 Sarah

I just feel odd that I can really really want something and have loved a brand most of my life, but not even care to have a whole collection, and then be ok with never owning it if that's how my cookie crumbles.

legaldiva - Congrats on your lovely new belt! Hope it brings you luck in your current and future trials.

Kelly_Birkin - Was really sorry to read that your sister could not join you at your b-day dinner. It sounds like you had a really tough day so I was so happy to read that someone was able to help perk things up a wee bit. Your karo is beautiful!!!

candace117 - I just have to say you are truly an amazing person and you don't just deserve H. You deserve all the good things life has to offer.

Candace, you most certainly deserve Hermes! So don't
feel guilty. :) I hope you get the bag of your dreams. :)
Mine would be a Bolide, Kelly, and Birkin - in that order.
Like you, I might never get everything I want, but that's okay. :)
I know I'll never be a VVIP. I'm content knowing that. :)

valencia, thank you for your kind words. :)

^^^ That's the thing though, I don't care even if I never am able to get anything at all. That kind of psyches me out a bit since I love it so much. And usually I want to get something special if I love a brand like Hermes. You are close to getting a Bolide though, I can feel it.

This deployment's money will be spent on eradicating debt, acquiring a new car (painted magenta) and a new house. All truly important and big steps for a young couple!
And I want to send my husband on his dream fishing trip to Canada or to South America. That is more important to me than getting a bag for myself. I know he would never let me if he knew that was what I wanted to do - he'd rather treat me special than get anything for himself.

candace, What a wonderful thing for you to do for your husband. :)

I'm sure you will get your dream bag. Thank you for your kind words too.
Believe me, it's going to take a long while for me to get my H bag. Monthly
bills, student loans starting on April 1st (no joke!), etc. As much as I would
love to get a bag a year, I don't think that'll ever happen.

I'm certain that you will get your Hermes bag as well!!

Kelly_Birkin - Some of the big reveals can make those of us that are "wealth challenged" feel a little down at times so I just want to clarify that you don't need to own anything H to be a VVIP. Just being you makes you a VVIP.

candace117 - Sounds to me like you are making all the right choices. By eradicating debt, securing a new home, and treating DH to a little something special you are building a foundation that will last a lot longer than any H item. Your choices also mean you will be able to buy H without guilt, be able to store all of your H items in your very own home (and not someone else's), and will get total support from DH.

Hang in there Ladies!!!

I agree with what I have bolded.

I am making the right choices, and I'm not sitting here thinking 'oh, I'm sad at what I am planning because I won't get any Hermes'...or anything. The thing that is weirding me out, is that I plain don't care. And I am mentally exhausted thinking about the next year and a half, I know that has something to do with it. But for me it was H after Iraq or not at all, so I am going with not at all. And the idea that it doesn't phase me at all, is what makes me stop and think  Luckily, I can still look
