Have you tried any of the other stores in the CA area? I wonder if Costa Mesa is any better. My husband makes several trips to Vegas each year for business, so I could have him look there too. If they tend to have a larger stock I'll send him on an errand for me! :smile1:

Haha....you r lucky...since Vegas has 3 HOP stores you might have a better luck. SCP sometimes has things that I want but I love SF store. They have great collections and so far almost every time I was there they have nice things to admire. One time they have a very nice crocodile messenger bag, to bad the price was out of my range. But When i came back to the store couple hours later the bag was gone!!
Hopefully we will get what we r looking for!! 😀

Thanks! I'll have my husband try there next time he's in town :) I'd love to make it up to San Francisco someday... which store is SCP? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the abbreviations :smile1:

Hello. I am super new to TPF. I have always been afraid to post. I guess I have been the girl who would just look at the amazing Birkin bags and wish she could have one.
My name is Sarah and I am in my mid 20s. My career just started for which I am very fortunate, considering all of the economic turbulence that has hit my generation (as well as others) pretty hard.
I am very fortunate that my DH spoils me. His career is better paid etc and he works so hard. Just today I stopped working at 8 pm and he worked till 12 am.
At first my big dream was the channel jumbo with gh. My DH got it for me less than 2 years ago. Then he got me a beautiful channel black jacket. It is still a dream. Along the way I have build a nice handbag collection. I remember when I was 18 I saved money and I was so happy when I got my Miu Miu bag. I think that is the moment that my love for fashion started. Currently it does not help that the net-a-porter phone app is so easily accessible to make online purchases.
As for the Birkin, since January I am on the waiting list. I live abroad and that is how the Hermes shop works here. I need to restrict myself for 3 more months and I will be very close to obtaining the bag I thought I would never ever have. I have been saving for it for almost 3 years, sometimes saving wisely and currently I have not been too good about it.
I think the stress from work has really gotten the worst of me. It also does not help that I started getting panics and depression. I know that if I do not go to work and do not get out of my bed my dream of finally earning this bag will be thrown away. I know I sound ridiculous and almost insane but I hope I am not completely alone here.
If anyone is interested I can let you know how the progress, if I do not fail, of finally obtaining the Bag goes.
Btw, the Birkin I am waiting for is the 35 epsom in GH. It I get it, you guys will be the first to know (of course if that is OK and it does not make others feel bad).
And this is one long post.

Sarah, thank you for sharing the journey of your quest for your 1st Birkin. I am touched by your sharing. You are only in your midst 20, there are many years for you to build your H collection. Take your time and enjoy the journey. You work so hard and save to buy your birkin which I think is an admirable act.

However, do remember there are also other priorities in life such as investment in property , car, children, eduction, healthcare..... Blah blah blah, I risk sounding like your mother now...:)

I only started my chanel collection at 40 and H at 42. Even though I started late, but with enough saving and investment, I catch up with my collections in accelerated mode.

What I am trying to say is your birkin will find you. You deserve the best your heart desires. Look after your health so that you have many many more years ahead to enjoy them!

Thank you for responding and I loved your sweet reply. Yes, health comes first so does love. I am very fortunate to have house and cars covered, these are definitely a priority. Right now it is just making sure I do not spend my Birkin savings on some other fashion related items
I am waiting for the bag since January. The guy in charge is really, really upsetting. He yells sometimes to customers. :( And so I have left it up to DH to deal with him. It is a bit upsetting that when we went to the store and picked out the leathers our SA said we will wait maximum 6 months since we are one of the first to come, it was very early January, we are ahead of the list and the bag I choose was not hard to come by. But the guy in charge of this specific section pretty much was so rude, he said nothing is sure, I may not even have the bag and pretty much went on to make some snap comments about me in the language they speak here. I have to say I am not a confrontational person but I do have dignity. Needless to say I returned his favour and told him he cannot treat people like this especially if he makes comments about my heritage. He wants to meet my DH and was so making a fit that my husband did not have time for him. And yes, we have bought things from Hermes before. Mostly my DH. Even his clients always ask him where is the Hermes store and he is not in the fashion business.
Next week my DH will meet this guy in charge of the bags. It will be an interesting meeting.
Long post but I am so disappointed that after all the hard work my SA put into they have such a nasty guy in charge of the Birkin bags.

Just curious... what happened finally dear?

So glad to have found this thread! :D

I'm a relative H newbie. I started buying a few scarves and twillies last year, got my first small leather item this year (a Ulysse MM in gold togo), and I know getting an H bag is just a matter of time. I'm not really into Bs or Ks, so I first thought of getting a Picotin because it's within my price range. But after thinking about it some more, I decided that it wouldn't be a practical bag for me.

I've been doing some research lately, and I think I have settled on my HG H bag - a Massai Cut 32 in gold clemence. I already exhausted my bag budget this year, so my new goal is to study hard for my professional exams, and hopefully get the Massai when I pass everything, which will be July 2014, and I would have saved up the money for it by then. More importantly I think delaying this purchase would make it feel much more worthwhile when I finally get it. :D

I have no idea about availability, or even whether I'll like the Massai once I try it on, but I'm too shy to go into the boutique asking to try on something that I know I won't be able to buy right away. I just figure things will work themselves out once I actually pass the exams. Fingers crossed! Thank you for letting me share my goal, ladies.

:smile1: Good goal. You have the time to think about it and eventually change your mind. The Massai (old model) has also been my first H. bag. I don't think it would be a great problem going into a store to see the bag...the real problem is that, once you're there, you start looking at a thousand other things...having the temptation to buy something not necessary. Maybe you can go with a friend (ready to take you out as soon as you start looking around!) and just take a look.

Thank you for your encouragement! I did pop into a couple of the smaller local boutiques and say that I wasn't looking to buy right now, but was wondering about general availability of Massai Cut in general. The SAs were nice but their responses weren't too encouraging, it seemed like they didn't get many shipments of MC in the past year, and when they did, it wasn't in the colour/leather combo I wanted anyway.

I'm staying zen about it. I'm a long way off passing all my exams, and I'm sure my HG bag will find me when I'm ready. :D

Massai cut was not offered in the last podium so it will be quite difficult for you to get one from boutique from now on. But with Hermes, one can never tell. They may offer it in future. Otherwise eBay will be your option.

Silversun- I don't know where you live but I have seen a few Massai at The Mall at Short Hills. They have one there now. I wish you all the best and saving and planning is what allowed me to get my bags. Definitely worth the wait. Good luck!
